Who did Indianapolis Colts pick in PFF's 2010 NFL redraft? In PFF's 2010 NFL redraft, who did the Indianapolis Colts end up picking this time?
Using hindsight and their grading system, Pro Football Focus has redrafted the first round of the 2010 NFL draft. So, who did the Indianapolis Colts come away with this time?
Following a Super Bowl loss in 2009, the Colts held the 31st overall pick in this draft and originally selected TCU defensive end Jerry Hughes. But this time, PFF had the Colts picking safety Kareem Jackson, who originally was taken at 20th overall in the actual 2010 draft by Houston, but he was now available in this redraft.
"Jackson took a year or two to find his footing in the NFL, but from 2012 through 2020, he recorded an 87.3 PFF overall grade and an elite 90.0 PFF coverage grade with Houston and Denver," wrote PFF.
Jackson has had a long NFL career, still appearing in two games last season with the Buffalo Bills. He's appeared in 205 games over his 15 NFL seasons, which includes 193 starts.
Jackson has had good ball production in his career, which includes generating 18 interceptions in his first 10 seasons, along with 98 pass deflections during that span, with five seasons where he recorded at least 10. Jackson has also had seven seasons where he's made at least 70 tackles.
Hughes, the Colts' original pick, ended up going 21st overall to the Bengals in PFF's redraft. Hughes spent three seasons with the Colts before being traded to Buffalo prior to Year 4.
With Indianapolis, he appeared in 40 games and made seven starts, recording five sacks, 62 tackles, and eight tackles for loss. Hughes was still playing in 2024, appearing in seven games with the Texans. For his career, he's played in 225 games, making 152 starts, while totaling 70 sacks and 484 tackles.
"Hughes didn't get to play much during his short time in Indianapolis, but his career really took off after he was traded to Buffalo," PFF wrote. "He spent nine seasons there and recorded a 90.2 PFF pass-rush grade. He is also the only Bills defensive lineman in PFF history to record a 90.0-plus single-season PFF pass-rush grade, having done so in 2018."

Commanders Pushed to Trade for Bengals' Trey Hendrickson

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Heading into the 2025 NFL season, the Washington Commanders are in a much different position compared to last year. They are no longer a surprise to the league. Instead, they are expected to be right back in playoff contention, potentially making a push for a Super Bowl. On paper, Washington looks like it will be better in 2025. A recent trade idea put together by ESPN presented a potential framework that could help the Commanders bring on a multi-time Pro Bowl player, boosting their defense ahead of next year. What does the hypothetical deal look like? In this case, the Commanders would acquire the veteran defensive end Trey Hendrickson. In exchange, the Cincinnati Bengals would land the defensive tackle Jer'Zhan Newton, a 2026 third-round pick, and a 2027 seventh-round pick. Trey Hendrickson #91 of the Cincinnati Bengals rushes the passer during an NFL football game against the Washington Commanders at Paycor Stadium on September 23, 2024 in Cincinnati, Ohio. Trey Hendrickson #91 of the Cincinnati Bengals rushes the passer during an NFL football game against the Washington Commanders at Paycor Stadium on September 23, 2024 in Cincinnati, Ohio."Washington is in win-now mode, but Dorance Armstrong is its best edge rusher. Adding Hendrickson, who recorded the second-best pass rush win rate at edge last season (24%), would be a huge boost," writes ESPN's Seth Walder. "Losing Newton would make an old defense older, but the Commanders have strong veteran options on the interior defensive line in Daron Payne, Javon Kinlaw, and Deatrich Wise Jr. (who can move inside if needed). By including Newton in the deal, the Commanders can put together a feasible package without a second-round pick." Hendrickson carries an impressive resume and recently earned his most notable accolade since entering the NFL as a third-round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. Since 2021, Hendrickson has made four Pro Bowl games. Last year, he was named an All-Pro for the first time in his career. In 17 games, Hendrickson had 46 tackles. He led the NFL in sacks with 17.5, a number he achieved one season prior. It remains his career-high. In this case, the Commanders would be cutting ties with a homegrown prospect. Just last year, the Commanders picked up Newton out of Illinois with the 36th overall pick. He started in 11 games and made 16 total appearances. The veteran pass rusher had 44 combination tackles and registered two sacks. With the Commanders looking to beef up their chances of making it out of the NFC title game, they just might have to make some tough decisions regarding the future of some of their young prospects. Hendrickson seems to be in play for those who are interested. Back in March, the Bengals reportedly granted Hendrickson permission to seek a trade. So far, the Bengals haven't received an offer worth their while.

Eagles DC Vic Fangio Breaks Silence on CJ Gardner-Johnson Trade

Eagles DC Vic Fangio Breaks Silence on CJ Gardner-Johnson Trade originally appeared on Athlon Sports. In the midst of the offseason, the Philadelphia Eagles shocked the league and dominated the headlines by trading safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson to the Houston Texans for offensive guard Kenyon Green and a fifth-round pick. Advertisement This was a decision that scratched many heads, as Gardner-Johnson was a key piece of the Eagles' defense that held the Kansas City Chiefs to 22 points in their Super Bowl LVIII win. Philadelphia Eagles safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson© Bill Streicher-Imagn Images At the NFL annual meetings, Eagles general manager Howie Roseman made more sense of the decision, noting how many high-value players they have on the roster. "We got eight guys who are making $15 million or more — we have from the 2022 to 2024 drafts, we have eight starters who are on the Super Bowl team, none of those guys have long-term contracts," Roseman said. "In those drafts, probably have five or six players that will be competing for starting jobs." Advertisement Juggling a roster with several players on long-term contracts and several who are not, Roseman wanted to avoid a situation where he would need to part with 20 guys in one offseason. "We've been very fortunate to be aggressive in keeping our guys and signing guys in free agency, and it's also got to align with the draft and having young players," Roseman said. On Tuesday, defensive coordinator Vic Fangio confirmed Roseman's statements, stating that he agreed with the final decision. Roseman was likely aiming to avoid a contract dispute with Gardner-Johnson in preparation for paying his younger players. Cam Jurgens, Jordan Davis, Nakobe Dean, Nolan Smith, Jalen Carter, Quinyon Mitchell, and Cooper DeJean are all on rookie contracts. Carter is also projected to reset the defensive tackle market next year. Advertisement The Eagles also made extending Zach Baun, Saquon Barkley and Lane Johnson their top priorities, each of which requiring a pretty penny. Philadelphia also let several other key contributors walk due to financial constraints, including Milton Williams, Josh Sweat and Isaiah Rodgers. Roseman also admitted that he was too sentimental toward retaining players after the Super Bowl LII win, and he didn't want to make the same mistake again. The Eagles' aim was to maintain a strong foundation, and Gardner-Johnson fell victim to the process. Regardless, Gardner-Johnson joins an incredible secondary unit in Houston consisting of Derek Stingley Jr. and Kamari Lassiter. Saquon Barkley joins Brian Dawkins and David Akers in Madden's '99 club'

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Earlier this week, it was revealed that Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley will be the cover athlete for the latest installment in the Madden franchise. Along with gracing the front of this year's game, he's also received another prestigious honor. Throughout the history of Madden, being given a 99 overall is a notable feat that only a handful of players can say they've received. Coming off the best year of his NFL career, Barkley has now broken through this threshold. Amid the cover announcement, the people from Madden also gifted him a customized necklace to welcome him to the "99 Club." With this achievement, Barkley joins an exclusive group of players in Eagles history. He is now the third player to be given a 99 overall. The first Eagle to reach this mark was Brian Dawkins in 2004. Two years later, kicker David Akers also joined the "99 Club." Prior to Barkley, Lane Johnson was the most recent Eagles player to come close, reaching a 98 overall in 2024. After failing to come to an agreement on a new contract with the New York Giants, Barkley opted to depart from the team that drafted him to join the Eagles. This move yielded huge dividends, as his presence helped get the title contenders over the hump. NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA - FEBRUARY 09: Saquon Barkley #26 of the Philadelphia Eagles celebrates with teammates on the sideline in the fourth quarter against the Kansas City Chiefs during Super Bowl LIX at Caesars Superdome on February 09, 2025 in New Orleans, Louisiana. MoreIn his first season with Philly, Barkley came just shy of history by rushing for 2,005 yards in the regular season. He did so in just 16 games, as the team opted to sit him in Week 17 in preparation for the playoffs. Not only were Barkley's rushing yards a career-high, but he also posted his highest yards from scrimmage for a season (2,283). Having a strong backfield threat in Barkley gave the Eagles' offense a dynamic it hasn't had in some time, and made them much harder to contain week-to-week. Led by the star back's historic season, Philly carried this momentum all the way to their second Super Bowl win in franchise history. Landing the cover and a 99 overall are well-deserved honors for Barkley, but now the Eagles star has a tough challenge ahead. Many view landing on the front of the game as a curse due to multiple players falling off afterward. Seeing that the Eagles are poised to remain in the title hunt this season, they'll need Barkley to continue playing at a high level. Barkley set the bar high last year with a dominant first season with the Eagles. Replicating his 2024 campaign is a tall task, but with most of the team's core returning, all the pieces are in place for him to once again be a focal point of the offense.
