Every day before I leave the house, I go through what I like to call my P.W.G. checklist: phone, wallet, and gloss. Fun fact: Ever since I was a teenager, having a lip gloss on me at all times was just as important as having my ID. So you can imagine how many glosses I've accumulated over the years. However, recently, the Topicals Slick Salve has outperformed all other formulas and remains my top choice.
I can vividly remember the first time I tried the Slick Salve. One day, I was sitting on my living room couch as my roommate walked in excited from having just attended the Topicals product launch event for said gloss. She talked for a while about the evening and how much she loved the formula, and eventually tossed a sample of the balm over to me to try right away.
The first thing I noticed was how the applicator curved to fit my lips. It's soft, silicone curved tip made for easy and smooth application, and before I could even think about the applicator for too long, I was captivated by the minty tingling of the balm. The consistency was thick and smooth with a sticky feeling, which was perfect for a gloss obsessive like myself. After years shuffling between MAC's Lipglass and the one-dollar beauty supply store glosses that are always strategically placed right at the checkout counter, I'd grown to prefer this particular texture of glosses—the stickier the better.
The stickiness is courtesy of the brand's patented cling technology, which uses polymers to bind the balm to the lips, providing long-lasting treatment. Even better, the formula combines nourishing ingredients, like ceramides, peptides, and hyaluronic acid, to hydrate your lips throughout the day. 'It's an innovation that gives you a long-lasting lip balm you don't have to reapply constantly, although you'll want to,' says Dr. Tracey Hicks-Kearse, head of product development at Topicals.
I can agree that I do find myself reapplying the gloss even when I don't necessarily have to. With its glossy look and comfortable feel, I underestimated how moisturizing the formula is. Most days, when I apply the balm in the morning, I can still feel it on my lips well into the day, even after eating meals. Though the initial gloss might wear down after a few hours—which is still a pretty long-lasting shine—my lips never feel dry. The hype is well-deserved. There was such high demand for the gloss that Topicals released a newer iteration, a pigmented deep plum shade called Acai.
While Slick Salve certainly has a legion of fans, a product with that much popularity also has its detractors, many of whom find the consistency a bit too sticky. Even so, the brand founder, Olamide Olowe, eventually took to TikTok herself in a 10-minute video to discuss the Slick Salve formula. 'When we were developing Slick Salve, we focused on those with extremely chapped or dry lips,' said Olowe. 'It's a heavier formula that not a lot of people have tried before. I can honestly say that this lip balm might not be for everyone because of that.' But even for those who weren't attracted to the thick consistency, Olowe invites discourse around her products as she encourages people to research and learn what works best for them while having empathy for others with varying opinions.
In my experience, the balm has been a huge help in repairing my dry lips and is now a signature part of my makeup routine paired with my favorite brown lip liners. At this point, I've purchased so many tubes of Slick Salve that I keep one in just about every bag I own for safe measure. Last year, I even asked for it for my family's secret santa Christmas exchange, so I think I've earned my status as a certified Spottie Hottie (the official name for dedicated Topicals fans). So, just as I always make sure my phone is charged before leaving home, I double-check to ensure I have at least one Slick Salve on hand to complete my checklist.

How to set up an Apple legacy contact, in case you die

If you use Apple devices regularly, then your Apple account has lots of important files and data attached to it—including photos and videos of precious memories and extensive email archives that you need to hang on to. Apple gives you many ways to make sure this data is looked after, including setting up a couple of key contacts who become attached to your account: a recovery contact (who can help you get back into your account if you're locked out), and a legacy contact (who can get into your account if you die.) There are good reasons for setting up both of these contacts, and it doesn't take long to do. You can specify more than one contact in each case, and change your chosen contacts at any time. Let's start with a recovery contact, a specified person you trust and can turn to if you find yourself locked out of your account. It's one of the most reliable methods out there for restoring access to your Apple account, because it relies on an actual human being who knows you rather than passwords or authenticator apps. Apple says your recovery contact 'should be a person that you know and trust, like a family member or a close friend.' You can set up to five recovery contacts for your account. If you're using Family Sharing with your account, Apple will recommend the other people in your family as your contacts, but you're free to choose who you like. Your recovery contacts will need access to an iPhone, iPad, or Mac, and their own Apple account—so you can't pick any friends and relatives who only use Android or Windows. Apple won't store any information about who your contacts are, so it's important that you remember who you've nominated (you can't recover your recovery contacts). To set up your recovery contact(s) on an iPhone or iPad, open Settings, tap on your name, pick Sign-In & Security > Recovery Contacts, then follow the instructions on screen. You can also do this from a Mac, via System Settings: Click on your name, then Sign-In & Security, then Recovery Contacts. If it's someone already in your Family Sharing group, the contact is added automatically; if not, they'll need to accept your request. If you get into trouble accessing your account, your recovery contacts can help you out. From Settings on an iPhone or iPad, or System Settings on a Mac, they need to select their name, then choose Sign-In & Security > Account Recovery. Once they select your name, they'll get a recovery code which they can pass along to you, which will help confirm your identity to Apple and get you back into your account. It's never pleasant to think about death, but your chances of escaping it are zero—so you want to make sure that getting your affairs in order is as straightforward as possible for the loved ones you leave behind. Of course, our digital legacies are becoming a bigger and bigger part of our worldly goods and possessions. Apple lets you specify what it calls a legacy contact, someone who you grant permission to access your Apple account after you're gone. This includes access to your photos, messages, notes, and files, but it doesn't cover passwords or payment information. You can specify more than one legacy contact, and the people you pick don't have to be using Apple devices or have an Apple account. On an iPhone or iPad, open up Settings, tap your name, then pick Sign-In & Security > Legacy Contact to choose someone. If you're on macOS, from System Settings select your name, and then click Sign-In & Security > Legacy Contact. No confirmation is required, but you will be prompted to send your chosen contacts the digital key they will need to access your account in the future. Before Apple will let these designated contacts into your account, they'll need both the digital key you gave them and a copy of your death certificate. Once the administrative work is out of the way, they'll be granted access to a special legacy contact Apple account, through which they can get to the information you've left behind. 'Your legacy contact has access to your data for a limited time—three years from when the first legacy account request is approved—after which the account is permanently deleted,' Apple says. Note that if you've specified more than one contact, they can all take action on your data and files independently of each other.

Not only is it extremely helpful to remind you that yes, you do need to pack a mini perfume, but having these seven handy mini products means you won't have to wrestle with your suitcase either. From glow-boosting skincare to mood-lifting fragrance and hydrating must-haves, this curated collection has all your holiday minis sorted. Whether you're jet-setting or stay-caying, these minis are bound to come in handy and will ensure your skin stays hydrated, glowing, and smelling like summer. All housed in a reusable see-through zip pouch, it's also incredibly practical for going through security and will keep your items safe. For starters, let's talk about the excellent value - you're getting seven premium skincare and make-up minis from brands like MAC, Bobbi Brown, Rituals, Laneige, Floral Street, and more for just £32. That works out to just under £4.60 per mini. There's no denying the value in this box, as the same travel-sized Laneige Water Bank Blue Hyaluronic Cream Moisturiser usually retails for £19.50. The Milk Makeup Multi-Use Lip + Cheek Cream Stick retails for £22 and the Floral Street Sunflower Pop Eau de Parfum retails for a whopping £29. Now, let's get into some of my favourite items. Firstly, I'm a massive fan of the Milk Lip + Cheek Tint - it has been one of my holy grail make-up products for years. This shade is a lovely light blush that would look great on all skin tones, and I love that it's two-in-one, so you can use it on both your lips and cheeks and be ready to go. It's ideal, especially when you're on your summer holiday and prefer lighter make-up. I also wasn't expecting to like the MAC mascara as much as I do. It has a great dual-sided curved brush that captures every lash for enhanced lift, and I found it offers a buildable, clump-free finish that had instant results. Shop now The Laneige moisturiser was lightweight and fast-absorbing - two standout qualities of a great moisturiser - and I found it kept my skin well hydrated. It also paired well with the Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Face Base primer that is infused with glow-boosting vitamins and hydration heroes. Next onto scents, while the Floral Street Sunflower Pop Eau de Parfum has over 100 five-star reviews with shoppers saying it 'smells amazing' and like 'summer in a bottle', it was a tad too strong for me. It's described as a 'vibrant, sumptuous citrus blend', designed to bring to life the beauty and optimism of Van Gogh's 'Sunflowers'. Milk - Lip + Cheek In The Shade Werk Full Size (6 g) MAC - Stack Elevated Mascara Mini (8 ml) Bobbi Brown - Vitamin Enriched Face Base (15 ml) Laneige - Water Bank Blue Hyaluronic Cream Moisturiser (20 ml) Floral Street - Sunflower Pop EDP (10 ml) Sol De Janeiro - Cheirosa 62 (30 ml) Rituals - The Ritual Of Karma Shimmering Body Oil (30 ml) I much preferred the extremely popular Sol de Janeiro Cheirosa 62 Perfume Mist, which also smells like summer with warming notes of pistachio, almond, salted caramel and vanilla. Lastly, the Rituals Shimmering Body Oil refreshed my dull-looking skin with a subtle shimmer for a healthy, luminous glow. I'll definitely use it when wearing skirts or for special occasions to add a little extra radiance. Shop now Get your hands on 10 luxury skincare and body care heroes from big-name brands like No7, Liz Earle, Byoma and more, and enjoy some well-deserved TLC. Keep your skin fresh, hydrated, and protected this summer with nine super-charged skincare favourites from the likes of Inkey List, Byoma, Beauty of Joseon and more. The beauty box from Boots is all about self-care and indulgence, featuring 12 skincare, haircare and bodycare treats. Customers who have been quick to snap up the "amazing value" box have nothing but praise, with one five-star review saying it's "a rare beauty box with everything you can use or need!" One shopper has even gone back and bought four more boxes, to give as presents for Christmas. The Boots X Women's Health Beauty + Wellness Edit is packed with self-care essentials designed to refresh and energise you. It includes 12 products and 10 of them in full size! Featuring standout health and beauty picks from top brands like No7, Collagen Gold, and Sol de Janeiro, this box has everything you need to recharge and feel your latest box is a perfect for any sports enthusiast and is epic value for money.
