Delhi: 1,100 illegal Bangladeshis deported since Jan
More than 1,100 Bangladeshi nationals have been deported from Delhi since January 2025, with nearly a third of these removals occurring over the past two weeks, senior police officers said on Wednesday. The deportations are part of an ongoing crackdown on undocumented immigrants ordered by Delhi lieutenant governor VK Saxena in December last year. Following the LG's directives, Delhi Police launched a sweeping verification drive that began in south and central districts. Between December and January, officers screened over 16,000 individuals. Those found residing in the Capital without valid documents were handed over to the Foreign Regional Registration Office (FRRO), which then carried out deportation procedures, officials said. 'All police districts are undertaking intensive verification drives in identified zones,' said an officer, adding that the focus has been on slum settlements and other vulnerable pockets. The South district police alone deported 134 Bangladeshi nationals, including 38 women and 43 children, following a six-month-long operation. Deputy commissioner of police (south) Ankit Chauhan said enforcement was based on 'credible local intelligence' and targeted those overstaying visas or living without valid documents. 'We conducted 14 checks across Sangam Vihar, Fatehpur Beri, Lodhi Colony, and Maidan Garhi between December 2024 and June 2025,' he said. Multiple teams were actively visiting suspected pockets to verify identities through Aadhaar and voter ID cards. 'Our efforts remain focused on ensuring legality and public safety,' said Chauhan. Police teams verified identities using Aadhaar and voter ID cards and activated local informants to track down undocumented immigrants. Officials also mapped irregular entry points commonly used by migrants. In four cases, FIRs have been registered under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the Foreigners Act, and the Aadhaar Act. Among the notable cases, five Bangladeshi nationals were detained in Sangam Vihar earlier this year, while eight were arrested in Lodhi Colony in March. In Maidan Garhi, one individual was also booked under the Arms Act. The outer district police detained 92 Bangladeshi nationals on Tuesday, including 22 women and 39 minors. 'A team deployed near Mangolpuri Railway Line spotted several groups carrying luggage and preparing to board trains. On seeing the police, they tried to flee, but our officers swiftly intercepted them,' said DCP (outer) Sachin Sharma. On June 1, the north-west district police detained 66 more Bangladeshi nationals, including 30 minors and 16 women, in similar enforcement action. Officials said the crackdown will continue in coordination with FRRO to ensure all those residing illegally in Delhi are identified and processed for deportation.

New Delhi [India], June 11 (ANI): The South District Police of Delhi have deported a total of 134 Bangladeshi nationals, including 38 women and 43 children, following 14 intensive enforcement drives conducted between December 27, 2024, and June 10, 2025, according to a release on Wednesday. According to the release, the operation, aimed at addressing growing concerns over unauthorised foreign nationals, involved multiple teams targeting slums and suspected areas to verify voter IDs and Aadhaar cards for identifying illegal immigrants. Responding to escalating concerns about the unauthorised stay of Bangladeshi migrants, the South District Police launched a sustained campaign, leveraging local intelligence networks, sensitised informants, and developed human intelligence to trace and apprehend those residing illegally. Efforts also focused on mapping and monitoring entry routes commonly exploited by undocumented immigrants entering India. Special Operation Units and Police Stations worked in close coordination, gathering actionable intelligence that led to swift detentions of individuals overstaying visas or lacking valid travel documents. The successful drives included several key arrests under specific cases. Five Bangladeshi nationals were arrested at PS Sangam Vihar under Sections 318(2)/319(2)/337/61(1)(A) of BNS and 34 Aadhar Act. Two Bangladeshi nationals were arrested at PS Fatehpur Beri under Sections 318(2)/139(2)/61(1)(A) of BNS, the 14 Foreigner Act and the 34 Aadhar Act. Eight Bangladeshi nationals were arrested at PS Lodhi Colony under Sections 318(2)/319(2)/337 of the BNS, the 14 Foreigners Act, and the 34 Aadhar Act and one Bangladeshi national at PS Maidan Garhi under Section 25/54/59 of the Arms Act. The police have appealed to the general public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious individuals suspected of illegal stay in their vicinity, with a statement assuring that information provided to local police will be treated confidentially and may prevent unlawful activities. Residents' Welfare Associations (RWAs) and Market Welfare Associations (MWAs) have been urged to support law enforcement by spreading awareness and cooperating in verification drives to maintain safe and law-abiding neighbourhoods. Nashik cops arrest 3 Bangladeshis for illegal stay & document forgery
Nashik: Police arrested three Bangladesh nationals, including a couple from Pune, who were residing unlawfully in India. Additionally, the Nashik police arrested a 35-year-old loan executive from Nashik. Following information received on June 8 about a Bangladeshi woman living with a man in Nashik, police commissioner Sandeep Karnik directed DCP (crime) Prashant Bacchav to look into the matter. A team was formed, and through technical analysis, they detained both the woman and the loan executive. During questioning, the woman confessed that she was Bangladeshi and had been staying in India illegally. ACP (crime) Sandeep Mitke said the woman initially entered India unlawfully in 2017, assisted by her uncle, and settled in Ghansoli, Mumbai. She connected with the loan executive through social media, developing a relationship. After returning to Bangladesh, she found out that she was pregnant. She delivered a girl in July 2018. She then re-entered India illegally and began cohabiting with the loan executive. The woman travelled back to Bangladesh and returned to India in 2019 with valid documentation, but overstayed her visa period. Subsequently, she re-entered India illegally and had been residing with him since. They obtained fraudulent documents, including a birth certificate for their daughter, along with Aadhaar card, a voting card, and PAN card. The police discovered she had voted in recent Indian elections. Upon learning about her maternal uncle and aunt's illegal residence in India, authorities arrested them too from the jurisdiction of Shikrapur police station in Pune Rural. Police filed charges under relevant sections of the BNS, the Passport (Entry into India) Rules, 1950, and the Foreigners Act, 1946, leading to the arrest of all four individuals.
