Foreign Ministry of the DPRK expresses serious concern over the U.S. judicial authorities' provocation
A spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea gave the following answer to a question raised by KCNA on July 3 as regards the fact that the U.S. judicial authorities recently prosecuted DPRK citizens on the suspicion of a "cyber crime" and put them on a wanted list:
The recent incident is an absurd smear campaign and grave violation of sovereignty aimed at tarnishing the image of our state as it is a continuation of the hostile move of the successive U.S. administrations that have talked much about the non-existent "cyber threat" from the DPRK.
The Foreign Ministry of the DPRK expresses serious concern over the U.S. judicial authorities' provocation which is threatening and encroaching on the security, rights and interests of our citizens by fabricating the groundless "cyber" drama, and strongly denounces and rejects it.
The real threat of creating international cyberspace instability comes not from the DPRK but from the U.S.
The U.S. has long been posing a constant threat to the cyber security of the DPRK and other sovereign states by making cyber space a scene of battle and abusing the cyber issue as a political weapon to tarnish the image of other countries and impair the exercise of their legitimate rights.
The Democratic People's Republic of Korea has the right to take a proper and proportionate countermeasure to thoroughly protect the security and rights of its citizens from the judicial enforcement for a sinister political purpose, and to call to strict legal account the outsiders who took malicious action.
We will never tolerate any hostile act of the U.S. to encroach upon our state's sovereignty through groundless slander and illegal application of judicial means but will firmly defend the legitimate rights and interests of the citizens.

Egyptian Journalists Syndicate heads slams Emad Adib's meeting with Israel's Yair Lapid
The Head of the Egyptian Journalists Syndicate, Khaled al-Balshy, responded to the television interview between journalist Emad Adib and former Israeli Prime Minister and opposition leader Yair Lapid. Balshy affirmed the Syndicate's firm position rejecting any form of normalization with Zionists. 'The Syndicate's General Assembly's firm position rejects all forms of professional, union, and personal normalization (with Zionists),' he stressed. He declared in a Friday statement 'From this standpoint, I declare my rejection of the professional and humanitarian crime committed by Adib in his interview with the Zionist Yair Lapid, during which he provided a platform to justify the war crimes committed by the occupation army and its crimes in the region.' 'Adib was removed from the Syndicate's list following a decision by the preliminary disciplinary committee in September 2020, for arbitrarily dismissing dozens of fellow journalists at Al-Alam Al-Youm newspaper and retroactively closing their insurance files for five years prior to 2014. He is no longer a member of the Journalists Syndicate.' He also assured that the union would not have hesitated to immediately punish Adib had he retained his membership. Balshy called on all fellow journalists to abide by the union's general assembly's decision, emphasizing that any member who violates the decision will be immediately referred to a union investigation.

Peace with Kurds to gain momentum as PKK starts laying down arms: Erdogan - Region
President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Saturday that peace efforts with Kurds would gain momentum after PKK militants begin laying down their weapons. His remarks came ahead of a planned ceremony by the PKK in Iraqi Kurdistan to begin destroying its weapons, which the group said could happen between July 10 and 12. "The process will gain a little more speed when the terrorist organisation starts to implement its decision to lay down arms," he told journalists on his way back from an economic summit in Azerbaijan in remarks reported Saturday by Anadolu state news agency. The PKK declared an end to its armed campaign in May -- a conflict that has claimed more than 40,000 lives since 1984 and long strained Turkey's relations with its Kurdish population and regional neighbours. "As a gesture of goodwill, a number of PKK fighters, who had taken part in fighting Turkish forces in recent years, will destroy or burn their weapons in a ceremony," a PKK commander told AFP on Monday, speaking on condition of anonymity. Erdogan said he would meet with a delegation from the pro-Kurdish DEM party, which has played a key role in facilitating talks between Ankara and the jailed PKK founder Abdullah Ocalan, who spearheaded calls for the militants to disarm. "We will discuss the steps taken so far to reach the goal of a 'terror-free Turkey' with the DEM delegation and what will happen next," Erdogan told reporters, using Ankara's shorthand for the peace process. He said a date had not yet been set for the talks with DEM lawmakers Pervin Buldan and Mithat Sancar but indicated his spy chief Ibrahim Kalin would join the meeting. Media reports suggested they would likely meet early next week after which the DEM delegation would then head to Imrali prison island near Istanbul to brief Ocalan who has been serving life there since 1999. "A brand new door will open before us with the complete removal of arms, blood and tears," Erdogan added, saying the PKK's disarmament "will be the beginning of a new era for Turkey in terms of security, democracy and development". "We will work together on how to build a 'Turkey without terror' throughout our country, in eastern and southeastern Anatolia." Earlier this week, top PKK official Mustafa Karasu had accused Ankara of dragging its feet in reciprocating, saying it had "not taken the needed steps", pointing to ongoing strikes on PKK positions in northern Iraq and the failure to improve Ocalan's prison conditions.
