Where Clemson lands in ESPN, experts' updated 2026 college football recruiting rankings
ESPN college football recruiting analyst Craig Haubert updated his class of 2026 recruiting rankings on Wednesday.
For the Clemson Tigers, no news is good news as Dabo Swinney's 2026 class holds at No. 5 overall in ESPN's recruiting rankings. Wide receiver Naeem Burroughs remains ESPN's top-ranked offensive recruit for Clemson, while defensive tackle Kameron Cody is ranked the Tigers' top defensive recruit.
Burroughs, a four-star recruit out of The Bolles School in Jacksonville, is ranked the sixth best receiver in the 2026 class and the No. 48 player overall by On3.
On3 ranks Cody, a 6-foot-3, 280-pound lineman out of Benedict Military School in Savannah (Ga.) the 33rd best defensive lineman in the 2026 class.
Clemson ranks behind the USC Trojans, who top the industry's 2026 recruiting rankings at No. 1, with Ohio State at No. 2 and Notre Dame at No. 3. Penn State moved into the top five at No. 4 in ESPN's rankings while the team the Nittany Lions replaced in the top five, the LSU Tigers, dropped six spots to No. 10. LSU recently lost four-star receiver Jakai Anderson, who flipped to SMU over the weekend.
Where do Clemson rivals sit in 2026 football recruiting rankings?
Within the ACC, the Syracuse Orange are the only other ACC program to crack ESPN's top 10 at No. 7. Fran Brown, entering his second year at Syracuse after guiding the school to a 10-win season in 2024, won recruiting battles in Florida against Florida State, USF and others for Top 100 EDGE Kamron Wilson and Top 100 OT Javeion Cooper. ESPN lists Cooper and Wilson as Syracuse's top recruits for 2026.
Miami moved up five spots to No. 12 in ESPN's updated rankings after landing Jackson Cantwell, a five-star offensive tackle from Missouri that's ranked the nation's No. 1 overall player in 247Sports' Composite Recruiting Rankings.
North Carolina and first-year coach Bill Belichick land just below Miami at No. 13, while Louisville is No. 14. Further back, Florida State lands at No. 18.

Previewing the 2025 season for Texas A&M OL Ar'maj Reed-Adams with his player profile
As we gear up for the 2025 football season, Aggies Wire is breaking down every player on the Texas A&M roster. Throughout the preseason, each profile will highlight a player's background, recruiting rankings out of high school, and projected role under head coach Mike Elko. Ar'maj Reed-Adams stepped into a starting role after transferring to Texas A&M following four seasons with the Kansas Jayhawks. He arrived in Aggieland as an extremely versatile lineman and provided first-year head coach Mike Elko with a veteran presence across an offensive line that experienced frequent quarterback changes until Marcel Reed eventually took over. After weighing whether to enter the NFL Draft or return to A&M, Reed-Adams officially announced his decision to stay in Aggieland for his senior season. It's a gamble as he was projected as a Day 2 or Day 3 draft pick, but with another solid year, he could elevate his stock into early Day 2 territory. Preseason Player Profile Recruiting Rankings (Class of 2020) The former three-star prospect signed with Kansas out of high school after finishing his senior year at DeSoto High School. He was a late bloomer, but standing at 6-5, over 300 lbs., he made for an intriguing prospect with a high upside. Depth Chart Outlook Reed-Adams started every game at right guard during the 2024 season and is expected to return to the same role, anchoring a strong offensive line that helped Texas A&M become one of the premier rushing teams in the nation. No. 1 DL recruit James Johnson predicted to commit to SEC program
Georgia has been hot on the recruiting trail in the last few days of June and now it seems they have another chance to secure another commitment. The nation's No. 1 ranked defensive lineman James Johnson has received a prediction to commit to Georgia, per On3's Chad Simmons and Steve Wiltfong. 'The best parts were spending time with the coaches and players on the team, I'd say they have so much success because of how they work and how good of a coach Kirby Smart along with Coach Scott coaching the d-line and developing great players.' Johnson told On3 (Subscription needed). Advertisement Johnson took his official visit to Georgia back on May 30. He has taken three visits since. He was at Miami on June 6 and then Florida on June 13. Texas got the last crack at him on June 20 to complete his official visits. Johnson is set to commit on June 28 with those four schools being his options. Miami is Georgia's biggest competitor as they are for multiple recruits with likes of four-star running back Derrek Cooper and swaying away four-star wide receiver Vance Spafford from Georgia's recruiting class. Johnson plays high school football for Northwestern High School in Miami, Florida. Miami Northwestern is an NFL producing powerhouse. It previously produced Georgia defensive backs Divaad Wilson (who transferred to UCF) and Deandre Baker. The 6-foot-3, 285-pound defensive lineman is the No. 47 recruit in the class of 2026. Johnson is the No. 6 ranked recruit in Florida. This will be a huge commitment decision. Georgia is always trying to land the best defensive line recruits. If James Johnson and Seven Cloud could team up with Georgia freshman Elijah Griffin, then Georgia's future rotation of defensive lineman would create havoc for quarterbacks and offensive linemen. Israel Adesanya: Charles Oliveira 'gets touched too much,' Ilia Topuria knocks him out
Israel Adesanya is concerned with Charles Oliveira's striking defense against Ilia Topuria. Oliveira (35-10 MMA, 23-10 UFC) meets Topuria (16-0 MMA, 8-0 UFC) for the vacant lightweight title in Saturday's UFC 317 main event (pay-per-view, ESPN, ESPN+) at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Oliveira has been knocked down in his title fights against Michael Chandler, Dustin Poirier, and Justin Gaethje before rallying to get the finish. Adesanya isn't sure "Do Bronx" survives the power of Topuria, who's coming off back-to-back knockouts of Alexander Volkanovski and Max Holloway. "To beat two of the greatest featherweights of all time, back-to-back, it's hard to doubt a guy like that again," Adesanya said of Topuria on his YouTube channel. "(Oliveira) gets caught too much for my liking, that's the thing. If he wants to go forward straight away, he's going to get caught. I just see Ilia as too sharp with the hands, man. He's too sharp with the hands." Adesanya would like to see Oliveira mix in his grappling to help open up his striking. "Charles needs to feint or just find a way to cause doubt in Ilia's mind, and also good footwork, because I don't think he's going to be moving forward for long," Adesanya said. "He's going to have to move backwards, and when that happens, he has to use good footwork to get back to the center, and then attack from there. "(He needs to) shoot sometimes and then break away. Find a way to disengage, but just get that in his mind. I don't want to doubt Charles because he's illuminated by a great power, and he's just proven himself over and over again. ... Let's see what the grappling is about. Test it, because no one's tested Topuria's grappling quite well yet." The former UFC middleweight champion ultimately picked Topuria to win. "In this fight, I'm going to go Ilia Topuria, and I'm going to go by knockout," Adesanya said. "I don't know what round, but for me it's just because Charles, he gets touched too much for my liking. I just think Ilia will find the shot, I think pretty early if Charles decides to just be aggressive like he says and push forward. And then if he gets hurt, Ilia will find that shot again."
