Paul Pierce films 8-hour walk to work in robe as Celtics trash talk backfires spectacularly

Paul Pierce is a man of his word.
The NBA legend and FS1 personality made good on his vow Thursday as he chronicled an hours-long walk to work in a bathrobe after his pregame prediction of the Celtics taking Game 2 over the Knicks failed to come to fruition.
'Welcome to this journey, here I go,' Pierce, 47, said in an Instagram Story as he began the eight-hour, 20.2-mile trip in Los Angeles.

Pierce, who began his 19-year NBA career in Boston in 1998, then lamented over the Celtics for putting him in this position after the Knicks rallied from behind to win 91-90 on Wednesday, seizing a 2-0 series lead in the Eastern Conference semifinals.

'I can't believe this, Celtics got me out here like this,' the 10-time NBA All-Star said. 'I'm really walking out here like this. I got a long walk to go.'
It was only hours earlier that Pierce was sitting comfortably on the set of 'Speak,' where he told viewers he'd walk to the studio the following day in his bathrobe if the Celtics dropped a second straight game to the Knicks.

'If the Celtics lose Game 2 at home, I promise you I'm walking here tomorrow… 15 miles,' Pierce said. 'In my robe, no shoes on, bare feet.'
When asked about his confidence level in the Celtics, Pierce said, 'You got a better chance walking out of the studio and seeing a dinosaur' than seeing Boston lose.
The dino nugget stuck with the 'Speak' social media team as they included a Tyrannosaurus clad in a Knicks jersey in a rendition of how Pierce's eight-hour adventure would unfold.

Pierce, who appeared to wear shoes for Thursday's trek, also griped about the heat as he estimated to be about four miles into the walk.
'I'm over here sweating, though. Man, I need to take a break in a minute,' he said in an Instagram Story. '… I think I got another 16 miles, been going for about an hour and a half.'

The reigning champion Celtics are now two games away from elimination as the series shifts to New York starting Saturday with Game 3.
Pierce, a former first-round draft pick with the Celtics, played 15 seasons in Boston, where he won a championship in 2008 and was named the Finals MVP.
He was traded to the Nets in 2013 before closing out his career with the Wizards and Clippers.

Pierce retired in 2017 and pivoted to broadcasting.
He has been part of the FS1 network since 2024.
