200-year-old condom decorated with erotic art goes on display in Amsterdam's Rijksmuseum

Mint03-06-2025
A 19th-century condom decorated with erotic drawings is set to go on display at a Dutch museum. The erotic etching on the condom features a nun and three clergymen, and it is believed to have been made from a sheep's appendix. According to a CNN report, the prophylactic dates back to the 1830s, and is likely a souvenir from a brothel, as per a recent statement from the iconic Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam.
The curator of prints at this museum stated that this art piece looked more like a "luxury brothel souvenir", and was in "mint condition". UV testing on the item has revealed that it was never used before, according to Joyce Zelen, the curator. This "luxury" souvenir was nearly 7.9 inches long (20 centimeters), and according to Zelen, it was "more of an object to laugh about with your friends than an actual object to use", as reported by CNN.
In the erotic art, the nun can be seen seated with her legs open, with the three clergymen holding their robes upwards. They were reportedly revealing their private parts, as per the art. The inscription on the art reads,"Voilà mon choix," which translates to "This is my choice", the museum stated.

Take a look here: After dubsmash, maths teacher and motivational speaker gigs dude even tried rapping with mc peach😭😂 — v.🌙🤍 (@cloudsXcoffee) August 14, 2025 Mohit Suri's take on Saiyaara: Filmmaker Mohit Suri is currently basking in the success of his latest release, Saiyaara, featuring debutants Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda. Suri, at CNN-News18's Mumbai Townhall event, said that his upcoming film Saiyaara was written keeping newcomers in mind. He revealed that it was Yash Raj Films chairman Aditya Chopra who told him that the film would flop if it were made with 'established names". 'I really had put in a lot of my voice into the film," Suri shared. 'In this atmosphere where everyone was blowing up cars, I was making this love story with new people. I put in a lot of myself in writing the film, along with my assistant. I sent the script to YRF during the December holiday weekend and I chickened out. I thought, let me give him some solution—in the sense, provide some actors and known names who would back me and make this film. I so badly wanted to make this film," he explained. Thanks to Aditya Chopra's faith, Mohit Suri stuck to his gut and cast fresh faces, ensuring Saiyaara remains true to its original essence. And the result? A film with a gross collection of over Rs 500 crore! Varun Badola on Saiyaara: In an interview with Nayandeep Rakshit on YouTube, Varun was quoted saying, 'People are saying that this film has proven that we don't need stars anymore. That's not true. Abhi tum Ahaan Panday ko utha ke Jawan mein daalo, Jawan flop ho jayegi. Shah Rukh ko Saiyaara mein daal do, Saiyaara flop ho jayegi. Shah Rukh will suddenly become too big for the film, and Ahaan will not have the personality to run Jawan." 'I saw the euphoria on Instagram. Log jo chudiyaan tod rahe hai, chaatiyaan peet rahe hai (People were breaking their bangles, beating themselves). I think the promotions team went a little overboard there, where people are going to see the film, putting IV drips. Those people must have been told to give content in some way; thank god, people didn't get their legs broken and went crawling to see the film," he added. About Saiyaara: The romantic drama follows Ahaan, a daring and struggling musician, and Aneet, a fiercely devoted writer, as their love is tested by life's trials in classic Mohit Suri style. The film explores themes of grief, sacrifice, and eternal love. Written by Rohan Shankar and Sankalp Sadanah, Saiyaara also features standout performances from Geeta Agrawal Sharma, Sid Makkar, Shaad Randhawa, Rajesh Kumar, and Varun Badola, marking the first collaboration between Mohit Suri and legendary production house Yash Raj Films. 'Why would beef be spicy?': Dutch No. 1 Anish Giri on Indian food

Dutch GM Anish Giri during the Chennai Chess Masters event. (Image: X) On the sidelines of Chennai Grand Masters 2025, Anish Giri was asked to comment about Indian food. The Dutch Grandmaster stands in joint-fourth place in the Masters section of the tournament after seven rounds with 3.5 points in his tally. Vincent Keymer holds the sole lead in the competition with 5.5 points. Round 8 will be played on Thursday. Speaking about his food choices and views on Indian food, Giri said, "There's international options. There is Italian food, Chinese food. Of course if you have a tomato soup, Italian tomato soup... it's not supposed to be some kind of, you know, tomato masala soup! "But what I notice always with food is that there's always something which I don't expect to be spicy is spicy. Like, I'm okay with if, like, the Chicken Curry is spicy or Biryani is spicy. I know this. Or, like, some kind of Paneer is spicy. I understand. — chesscom_in (@chesscom_in) "But, like, when you have a Pizza or a Burger, there's like beef, because beef is not even Indian, right? So, I think why would beef be spicy? They put the little red enemies on the food!," referring to the indicators on food menus to demarcate spicy food. It is not the first time Giri has been fed spicy food on his journey to India. "I say it's spicy but everyone tells me it is not spicy! Now I think it's a linguistic issue! Even dal in itself is spicy but you add things to it and it becomes spicy," he had said in the past on his food experiments in India. Anish Giri had a quiet draw against Arjun Erigaisi in his latest contest in the Chennai Grand Masters 2025. Catch Rani Rampal's inspiring story on Game On, Episode 4. Watch Here!
