For Achilles Ion Gabriel, walking into CamperLab's new store in Paris' Marais feels like coming home.
The Finnish designer, who became creative director of CamperLab in 2019 and took the reins of the entire Camper brand a year later, recalled that his first office in Paris, early in his career, was just steps away from the new store on Rue Debelleyme.

'The location is super special for me,' he said Monday during a preview ahead of an evening launch event during Paris Fashion Week.
Ion Gabriel has been developing CamperLab — a younger, more experimental range by the Spanish label — with an expanded collection of genderless footwear and a new ready-to wear push. Accessories are also a growing category, and for spring 2025, the brand launched sunglasses.
The boutique, located in the former Camper store space, was designed by Harry Nuriev, founder and creative director of Crosby Studios. The architect took a sleek raw concept and added unique industrial touches.
'Harry knows that I love not perfect things, so that's why we have broken walls,' Ion Gabriel said. 'I wanted to have the product on display, but I didn't want it to scream. I wanted it to be a little hidden.'
The designer has evolved the shoe collection during the past five years, and among the key styles on display in the store are the brand's futuristic sneakers, which feature textured panels that swirl around a breathable mesh design with contrast edges on the laces.
Elsewhere in the collection, Ion Gabriel took inspiration from a traditional wooden clog for new loafer, sandal and sneaker designs. 'I like to morph a lot of different things. It doesn't have to be so literal,' said the designer, who launched a namesake collection last year at Pitti Uomo.
In tandem with the store opening, CamperLab debuted a new stand-alone website on Monday, in collaboration with Giga Design Studio.
Looking ahead, the designer is planning a full Paris Fashion Week presentation in June, when he will reveal more of his vision for the growing ready-to-wear line.

Is High-Speed Sailing the New Formula 1?

Nearly 10,000 fans gathered this past weekend to watch some of the world's top sailors race past the Statue of Liberty, with the iconic New York City skyline as their backdrop. SailGP, a fast-growing sailing league in its fifth season, held the Mubadala New York Sail Grand Prix in New York Harbor for crowds seated in stands along the water's edge. The investors and organizers behind SailGP believe that high-speed boats and exciting athletes can bring young fans to a sport that many consider stuffy and inaccessible. The race was the third in the US Rolex SailGP Championship, following events in Los Angeles and San Francisco; in total, the season will include 14 events on five continents, with hopes to expand in coming years. Attendees saw a brutal race through the rain on Saturday, followed by a final round on Sunday. The Spanish team took the top prize, with New Zealand and France ranking in second and third, respectively. Saturday's weather made it 'a super, super tricky day,' said Anna Weis, an American sailor. 'These are the kind of days [where] as sailors you're coming back and just scratching your head and thinking, Wow, this is really hard.' The league hopes that the international audience that has fueled the explosive growth of Formula 1 will find similar thrills on the water, according to Leah Davis, SailGP's chief marketing officer. According to SailGP's chief marketing officer Leah Davis, the league hopes to capture the excitement of the international audience that has driven Formula 1's explosive growth—and deliver that same level of thrill on the water. 'How do we take sailing to a modern, younger, global audience in a format that makes sense to today's sporting landscape?' she asks. 'We've spent so many years really perfecting the product on the water, but now it's all about how do we scale the experience and the fun? We call it après-sail, which is our take on that guest experience.' Last week, Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds became co-owners of the Australian team, while other investors include Anne Hathaway and Issa Rae. DJ Khaled holds a unique role with SailGP as its official Chief Hype Officer. 'Sailing as a sport has always been quite hard to bring to people visibly, to bring close to the spectators,' says Nicole van der Velden, a member of the victorious Spanish team. 'The platform that SailGP has made makes it really attractive for people to watch, [including] people that have never been into sailing. It's really cool to see that it's reaching a bigger public.' Adds Davis: 'Once people see it, it's pretty easy to fall in love within the first few minutes. You can see it's short, sharp flying boats. That's definitely new. We want to be a bit fun…our brand is [about] getting people engaged with a bit of a twinkle in our eye.'

Mia Farrow, Andrew Scott and Jean Smart Celebrate the Tony Awards Over Burgers and Fries at the Carlyle Hotel

After the after parties, come the after, after parties. Following the Tony Awards, many attendees flitted off to cast celebrations and the official MoMA party before landing at the annual event at the Carlyle, hosted by Rick Miramontez and John Gore. Upon entering, guests were met with camera flashes before entering into a dark, sea of people floating from booth-to-bar at the hotel, before hitting the back room where a band played songs like 'Come Fly With Me.' While she remained seated most of the night, it didn't stop people from going up to her and complimenting her performance. The 'Hacks' star graciously chatted with each person, shaking hands and laughing. After several minutes speaking with the star, one guest bragged to a friend: 'We have become very best friends with Jean Smart.…That's all we need in life.' Later on in the evening, she and actress Zoey Deutch, who wore a black, sequin gown, were all smiles, deep in conversation. Equally busy was Mia Farrow who chatted with Andrew Scott and sipped on a glass of white wine. Partygoers weren't shy to go up to the actress and compliment her on her role in the play 'The Roommate.' One fan said: 'You're incredible. We need to see more of you,' to which she very demurely responded 'Thank you. Bless you,' rubbing them on the arm. Farrow was seemingly just as excited about seeing Broadway's finest, as they were about meeting her. Ahead of the event, Farrow was eager to see Jonathan Groff perform and afterward was just as excited to gush about host Cynthia Erivo. Farrow departed at around 1:30 a.m., someone in her party saying it was time to get her home. Ariana DeBose, who hosted the Tony Awards last year, similarly said Erivo's hosting was one of the highlights of her evening…that and 'Jonathan Groff standing on Keanu Reeves' during his performance from 'Just in Time,' she said, laughing. Of course, DeBose, who was in the original cast of 'Hamilton,' also raved about getting to perform for the 10th anniversary during the awards. 'I'm biased,' she said before slinking off to sip her drink in a booth with friends. Meanwhile, Sara Bareilles snaked her way through the party holding up her silver, sequin gown to reveal a pair of white Converse. Busy Philipps arrived with soft pink hair, staying close to a small group of friends throughout the evening. Scott passed off his drink to pose for a slew of photos that lit up the dark bar area with flash. While guests mingled, some were pulled into a private area for interviews. Meanwhile, upstairs, a neon dance floor remained unused at 1:30 a.m., though a DJ did perform. Stations for late night food were also ready to go on the upper level for the inevitable munchies. At 1:45 a.m., a long line was forming of Tony goers still waiting to get into the party, including a large group of cast members from 'Sunset Blvd.' who all raised their hand in unison to let the bouncer know they were all together. Paul Tazewell, who won for 'Death Becomes Her,' slid in the line, just as the 'Sunset' crew was being let in. George Clooney, Sarah Snook, Nicole Scherzinger and More Stun on the Red Carpet Ahead of the 78th Tony Awards

It couldn't rain on anyone's parade ahead of the 78th Tony Awards. On Sunday evening, Broadway's finest, including George Clooney, Mia Farrow, Lea Michele and Tonys host Cynthia Erivo, gathered outside of Radio City Music Hall under a covered red carpet, avoiding the dreary New York City weather. Additional attendees included Sarah Paulson, Keanu Reeves, Sadie Sink, Katie Holmes and Michelle Williams. Much of the cast, including creator Lin Manuel Miranda, Jonathan Groff, Daveed Diggs, Christopher Jackson, Phillipa Soo, Leslie Odom Jr. and Reneé Elise Goldsberry, walked the carpet embracing other stars who were buzzing with excitement for what the performance could be. 'This is a reunion of sorts, but so many of us see each other regularly,' said original cast member Emmy Raver-Lampman. 'It hasn't been this capacity of all 28 of us being in a room together [so] that is something really special.' Of the night ahead, Diggs said: '[It's] strong turn-up vibes. Wherever these cats are afterward is where you're going to want to be.' Attendees were equally as excited to see Erivo host the award show for the first time. 'I am very excited to just watch her sing her face off,' said James Monroe Iglehart, who donned Dolce & Gabana sneakers and is nominated for his role in 'A Wonderful World: The Louis Armstrong Musical.' Meanwhile, many were eager to see Groff from 'Just in Time,' who also took home the Tony award for best actor in a musical for his role in 'Merrily We Roll Along' last season. Michele, who most recently starred in the revival of 'Funny Girl' walked with her costars Nicholas Christopher and Aaron Tveit from the upcoming product of 'Chess.' While walking the carpet, Michele gushed about her two friends, former 'Glee' costars and nominees Groff and Darren Criss, who she called 'family.' On the carpet, Farrow, who was nominated for her role in 'The Roommate' alongside Patti Lupone, gushed: 'I hope Jonathan Groff is singing.' Farrow also discussed how honored she was to be in the presence of so many Broadway legends. 'I'm in a zone where I have met some really wonderful people in the Broadway community, and that's been exhilarating for me,' she said. 'People I admire so much I get weak-kneed, they're so good and they've been so kind to welcome me, because I'm really not of the community.…I hope to do another play soon. I want to stay [and] keep doing plays.' Actors' Equity Association president Brooke Shields was similarly excited to celebrate all the works from this season. 'It's just nice to see people feeling celebrated. I love this night,' she said. In true Broadway fashion, the carpet included a few surprise moments, most notably a visit from 'The Phantom of the Opera,' who is returning to the New York City theater scene via a top secret immersive experience opening later this summer. Similarly, theater and film fans alike were surprised to learn last week that Tom Felton, who played Draco Malfoy in the 'Harry Potter' series, would be reprising his role in 'Harry Potter and the Cursed Child' on Broadway. 'It's all a bit daunting,' the actor said, adding that he plans to lean on costar and now Broadway regular Daniel Radcliffe for advice. 'I thought it was an elaborate prank when they asked me to do this, and it turns out it's not. I've missed him. Last time I saw him was 16 years ago, and now I get to pick up exactly where we left off, but now Draco is an adult.' He added: 'I know it's familiar. I know how to pronounce the word Potter, but other than that, it's a completely new set of shoes I'm stepping into.' Eager to celebrate Broadway history, many attendees donned looks inspired by current shows and iconic moments in theater history. Shields, who also wore a diamond ring gifted to her by Michael Jackson, sported a bag made out of red curtains from Radio City Music Hall before it was renovated. 'Oh, Mary' creator and star Cole Escola wore a custom Wiederhoeft gown, inspired by Bernadette Peters' look from the 1999 Tony awards. Harry Lennix wore a custom brooch featuring the logo of 'Purpose,' the nominated play which he currently stars in. Meanwhile, Adam Lambert, who recently finished their Broadway run in 'Cabaret,' donned a silver Alexander McQueen suit completed with silver hair, body glitter, silver nails and metallic accessories. Of the inspiration behind the look, they said, 'I was inspired by a Tony award. Literally that was my inspo.' Lambert also said they planned to 'cram in' as many after parties as possible. While many stars, including Groff and Felton, lingered on the carpet mingling with friends, reporters and photographers, many were ushered across quickly. 'Death Becomes Her' stars Megan Hilty and Jennifer Simard hustled across the carpet within minutes of each other. Erivo was similarly rushed in to get ready for her hosting duties. Just as the red carpet was closing down, three of the most talked about stars of the night, Nicole Scherzinger of 'Sunset Blvd.,' Sarah Snook of 'The Picture of Dorian Gray' and George Clooney of 'Good Night, and Good Luck,' who walked hand-in-hand with wife Amal Clooney, quickly scurried in waving hi to all the cameras. Scherzinger closed out the carpet by blowing a kiss as she ran in for a jam-packed night at Radio City Music Hall.
