Madison Square Garden promises to be electric on Saturday afternoon for Game 3 of Celtics vs. Knicks.
The reigning champs built substantial leads at home in both Games 1 and 2, but New York stormed back to win both those contests in stunning fashion.
The Celtics -- who have been one of the best 3-point shooting teams in the league over the last two years -- made just 25-of-100 shots from downtown in those games to put themselves in a 2-0 hole.
They nevertheless remain the slight betting favorites in this series, but Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown and the Boston supporting cast will need to find their shooting touch ASAP to keep their title defense alive.

Celtics vs. Knicks Game 3 Player Props
Karl-Anthony Towns 12+ Rebounds (+110 at DraftKings) -- 1 unit
Towns averaged nearly 13 rebounds per game in the regular season. He didn't exactly dominate the glass early in the Knicks' first-round matchup against the Pistons, though, finishing with single-digit boards in three of the first four games of that series.
But he was a force for the Knicks in the paint in both Games 1 and 2 of this series, and we expect that to continue to be the case throughout this matchup.
Towns finished Game 1 vs. the Celtics with 14 points and 13 rebounds despite being limited by foul trouble to 31 minutes. He added 21 points and 17 boards in Game 2 as 38-year-old Al Horford, Luke Kornet and Kristaps Porzingis all struggled to box him out.
He could have a tougher time today if Porzingis is able to log extended minutes, but that's hardly a distinct possibility amid KP's unknown non-COVID illness, which limited him to 27 total minutes in the first two games of this series.
As long as Towns can stay out of foul trouble (which is admittedly a substantial if), expect him to reach at least 12 rebounds today, as he's recorded 18, 14, 13 and 17 boards in the last four NYK-BOS matchups dating back to the regular season.
In two other regular-season meetings between these teams this year, he finished with nine rebounds in 28 minutes and seven rebounds in 24 minutes -- solid per-minute numbers, if not massive totals.
Celtics vs. Knicks Game 3 Pick, Best Bets
The eye test says that it's insane that the Knicks are getting 6 points at home, especially given how well Brunson and Co. played at MSG this year.
But while it's worth noting that New York went 27-14 at MSG in the regular season, it's also notable that Boston was much better on the road than at home all season.
And the biggest question, obviously, is whether it's realistic to expect the Celtics to shoot as poorly as they did earlier this week for the third consecutive game.
This feels like a stay-away for me. An emphatic bounceback win by Boston by a significant margin feels just as likely as another nailbiter won by the Knicks on a huge last-second bucket by Brunson.
Cliche as it is, taking the Knicks to get an early boost from the crowd and build at least a slight lead going into the second quarter is tempting -- and the price on NY to win the first quarter (+168) makes it impossible to resist.
Let's also go with the Over. There's too much offensive firepower on both rosters for this to be another game where both teams struggle to crack 100 points (and remember, all four regular-season matchups between these teams all cracked 220 total points, with three of them going over 230.
Celtics vs. Knicks Game 3 Best Bets:
Knicks 1st Quarter Moneyline (+168 at FanDuel) -- 0.5 units
Over 207.5 (-112 at DraftKings) -- 1 unit

Knicks Suggested to Hire Head Coach ‘Responsible For Building' Warriors

Knicks Suggested to Hire Head Coach 'Responsible For Building' Warriors originally appeared on Athlon Sports. New York Knicks head coach Tom Thibodeau was fired after five seasons with the organization, fresh off leading the club to its first Eastern Conference Finals in 25 seasons. Advertisement This leaves pressure on the front office to make a home run of a hire. Instead of giving Thibodeau another season with this squad, to see if he could take them further, they decided they need someone they are confident can take them to the promised land. Jason Kidd, Ime Udoka and Chris Finch -- all three active coaches -- have been linked to the vacancy early in the process. They've all got conference finals experience, with Udoka and Kidd both coaching in the NBA Finals in the past few years. Stephen A. Smith, ESPN pundit and known Knicks superfan, had a clear head coaching suggestion for New York. He wants the team to consider hiring Mark Jackson, a former head coach of the Golden State Warriors. © Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports "I'm gonna always mention the name Mark man was responsible for building Golden State before Steve Kerr was brought in and took over and piggybacked off of that," Smith explained. The logic is interesting here. Did Jackson do a solid job with the Warriors before the dynasty? Absolutely. He won 23 games in year one before winning 51 games in year three. Advertisement In the final two years of his three-year stint, he coached in the playoffs, with a total record of 9-10 in postseason play. However, there was a reason Steve Kerr was brought in to architect the dynasty years. He found success in the playoffs. Of course, Jackson was early to the party, and Kerr struck at the right time -- as Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green were entering their prime years. The New York native being linked to the Knicks makes sense. He's got limited coaching experience, though. While he is attached to the Warriors' dynasty, New York might opt to aim for a bench boss with more experience -- particularly deep in the playoffs. Advertisement Led by Jalen Brunson, the Knicks' title window is seemingly open. New York needs to strike while they can, taking no chances to bolster their ability to raise a banner. Scouting a potential Boston Celtics draft pick out of Penn State

The Boston Celtics have two picks in the upcoming NBA Draft. They will be selecting with the 28th and 32nd picks. Brad Stevens will likely prioritize players who have spent multiple years at the collegiate level, meaning they're more polished entering the league and have a better chance of earning some minutes off the bench. Following Jayson Tatum's Achilles tendon injury, Boston isn't expected to be a championship contender next season. As such, the Celtics could put some additional focus into the upcoming draft and their overall player development. Advertisement During a recent episode of the "How 'Bout Them Celtics?" podcast, hosts Jack Simone and Sam LaFrance dove into Yanic Konan Niederhauser, who is expected to be available in Boston's range. The 7-foot big man spent two seasons with the Northern Illinois Huskies before moving to Penn State for the 2024-25 collegiate season. In 29 outings, he averaged 12.9 points, 2.3 blocks and 6.3 rebounds, shooting 61.1% from the field. You can watch the full scouting report by clicking on the embedded video above. Should the Boston Celtics consider trading Jaylen Brown this summer?

Should the Boston Celtics consider trading Jaylen Brown this summer? The Boston Celtics are expected to make some big changes this summer. As currently constructed, the roster is estimated to cost $500 million next season, once luxury taxes are accounted for. As such, it makes sense that Brad Stevens will want to make some changes, especially as the rotation is getting older and the team isn't expected to be a contender next season. Kristaps Porzingis, Jrue Holiday and Sam Hauser are seen as the most logical trade candidates for Boston. However, Stevens may need to include Jaylen Brown in the negotiations if he opts to make a bigger change. However, that is unlikely unless a star-level talent is heading to the Celtics in return. Still, Brown's $285 million contract, which will see him earn $53.1 million next season, will ensure that his name is floated in trade rumors. After all, if the Celtics are looking to cut costs, moving Brown is one of the easiest ways to do so, despite the clear downgrade effect that would have on the roster. During a recent episode of "The Greg Hill Show," the concept of trading Brown was discussed. The hosts even dove into a hypothetical move for Giannis Antetokounmpo, who is rumored to potentially be available this summer. Brown's impact and contract status were both factored into the discussion, with the hosts looking at the pros and cons of keeping him around.
