KOTA KINABALU (May 9): Centre Point marked a significant milestone today by becoming the first shopping mall in Sabah to introduce Artificial Intelligence (AI)-powered cleaning robots.
Named Chuppy and Chippy, the robots are capable of mopping, scrubbing, sweeping and vacuuming, and are equipped with intelligent navigation systems.
Aside from providing a consistent and energy-efficient approach to mall hygiene, the robots also contribute to sustainability by minimising water usage and chemical waste.
The two robots were designed to support the mall's cleaning team, reduce physical strain and boost overall efficiency during mall operating hours.
These machines will be integrated into the mall's daily maintenance operations to ensure a consistently clean and welcoming environment for visitors.
This initiative is part of Centre Point Sabah's commitment to innovation, cleanliness, and Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) values.
'This is not just about being the first – it's about being future-ready.
'The robots are not a replacement, but an enhancement to our cleaning team's effort, helping us create a cleaner, smarter and safer environment for our patrons,' said Meredith Madani, the Personal Relations executive for Centre Point Sabah.
Also present were Centre Point Sabah manager Chou Shui-Chih, assistant manager Randy Ramli, cleaning executive Alex Ham, carpark executive Simon Harring, maintenance executive Shahrin Shafran, and Botanica AI & Robotics Solution chief executive officer Ruben Nadarajah.
