Douglas County man found guilty of child molestation of family member
The Douglas County District Attorney's Office says a 27-year-old man was found guilty of child molestation of a family member.
On March 20, 2022, the Douglasville Police Department responded to Wellstar Douglas Hospital where they spoke with a 13-year-old victim and family member when the victim told law enforcement Andra Thurman was molesting her.
Thurman reportedly had a relationship with a family member, which gave him access to the victim.

After a forensic interview with law enforcement where additional information about the abuse was disclosed, the victim told law enforcement the abuse occurred over a two-year period.
The investigation into the assault showed the victim was dealing with self-harm due to the molestation, police learned. The victim testified to these facts when presented at trial.

'Today's conviction gave voice to the abuse suffered by a child that the defendant intended to keep hidden in the dark. Because of her bravery, he will not be able to harm her again,' District Attorney Dalia Racine said. 'Our office remains committed to protecting the most vulnerable members of our community, and we will continue to relentlessly pursue justice for survivors of such horrific crimes.'
Thurman will be sentenced on March 12.

LaGrange police ask public for help solving 2011 cold case homicide
The LaGrange Police Department is asking the public for help solving a 14-year-old homicide. On June 5, 2011, Freddie L. Holmes was robbed and killed on Revis Street, according to police. Now, police say they've exhausted their efforts to bring the case to justice and are asking the community for more information that could lead to a breakthrough in the case. Officer shoots man armed with knife, accused of threatening relative, police say
A police officer shot a man who was reportedly armed with a knife and accused of threatening a relative in Ohio on Thursday. [DOWNLOAD: Free WHIO-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] Gahanna Police officers responded at 9:39 a.m. to reports of a suicidal person at the 300 block of Lincolnshire Road, according to a social media post. When the officer arrived, he asked 19-year-old Makhi McMillan to exit the home, but McMillan refused to come out. The officer then entered the home and was followed by a second officer. 'The officer who fired his weapon immediately began administering aid and called for medics, who quickly arrived. McMillan was alert and talking with officers before being transported to an area hospital, where he is in serious condition.' No one else was hurt, and officers recovered a knife from the scene.
