Deputy commissioner of police (south) Digant Anand said the video, which surfaced on platforms including Instagram, YouTube, and Facebook, showed a group of young men distributing liquor from a Scorpio vehicle. The footage was reportedly shot during the religious observance of Nirjala Ekadashi and triggered public outrage online.
"Acting swiftly, Mansarovar police identified the vehicle from its registration number and tracked down its owner," Anand said. He added that the main accused, identified as influencer Sachin Singh alias Lappu Sachin, was detained for questioning. Based on his statements, six others involved in the video production were also arrested. They have been identified as Pradeep Kadwasra, Vikas Verma, Abhishek Nirmal, Sunil Kumar, Aditya Mahariya, and Ankit.

Police said the group admitted to filming the video with the intention of gaining followers on social media platforms. They claimed there was no intention to offend religious sentiments and expressed regret over the timing of the act, which coincided with the festival.
"The accused claimed they were unaware that their actions would cause such offence. However, such acts, even if unintended, have consequences when they impact public harmony," Anand said, adding that the accused shot videos to increase their following online.
The Scorpio vehicle used in the act has been seized. All seven have been booked under relevant sections of the BNS pertaining to public mischief and hurting religious sentiments. Further investigation is underway to determine if the group was involved in similar past incidents.

No fundamental right to seek LOC, says HC
1 2 3 Hyderabad: The Telangana high court has ruled that a complainant cannot claim the issuance of a look-out circular (LOC) against an accused as a matter of fundamental right. Dismissing a writ petition filed by a housewife who alleged police inaction in issuing LOCs against two accused women in a cheating case, the court imposed exemplary costs of ₹10,000 for misusing the court's writ jurisdiction. Justice T Vinod Kumar, delivering the judgment, held that seeking an LOC is not a fundamental right enforceable under Article 226 of the Constitution. "Non-issuance of an LOC does not violate any fundamental right of the complainant," the court observed, directing the petitioner to pay the cost to the high court legal services committee. The complainant had approached the court claiming that the failure of Vanasthalipuram police to issue LOCs allowed the accused to evade justice. However, the court noted that the investigation had already been completed, and a charge sheet was filed before the competent magistrate. Cognisance was taken as early as Feb 2025. Justice Kumar also questioned the timing of the writ petition, filed in April 2025—well after the chargesheet—suggesting it was a calculated attempt to exploit the court's summer vacation to secure interim relief. The case pertains to a complaint filed in Sept 2024, in which the petitioner alleged that two women cheated her of ₹25.66 lakh on the promise of securing a tier-II UK visa for her daughter. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Villas For Sale in Dubai Might Surprise You Dubai villas | search ads Get Deals Undo Instead, the accused allegedly diverted the funds to finance a relative's education in Scotland. The court clarified that if the petitioner remained dissatisfied with the investigation or the framing of charges, she had recourse to remedies available under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, but not under the writ jurisdiction for such a grievance. The incident occurred around 2.15am and was reported to the Narendra Nagar fire station, which reached the spot within five minutes. The car belonged to Varun A, who is currently out of town. His parents were at home when the incident occurred. The fire was first noticed by a neighbour who had woken up for a washroom break. The neighbour informed his son, who then contacted Varun's parents. According to a family member, Varun's father rushed out of the house and tried to douse the flames using available water in their home. Neighbours also pitched in, passing buckets of water and using a hose from the adjoining house until the fire brigade arrived. The fire brigade team managed to contain the blaze quickly and ensured it did not spread further. They also ventilated the vehicle to release the smoke and prevent any flare-ups from the control tank.
