The ASEAN All-Stars, including the Philippines' Sandro Reyes and Amani Aguinaldo, defeated Manchester United, 1-0, in the Maybank Malaysia Challenge Cup on Wednesday at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Reyes and Aguinaldo started for the squad which included other Southeast Asian players such as Patiwat Khammal of Thailand, Declan Meng and Ezekiel Aguero of Malaysia, and Maung Maung Lwin of Myanmar who scored the lone goal at the 71st minute.
Reyes took to social media his feelings after the match.
"A boy from Manila winning against Manchester United in front of 70,000 fans. But we keep dreaming for more," Reyes wrote on the caption of his post.
'I'm happy and grateful to be selected and to be given such a great opportunity,' Aguinaldo previously said.
The two will fly soon to Manila for the upcoming window of the AFC Asian Cup Qualifier where the Philippines will take on Tajikistan on June 10.
Manchester United, 20-time English Champions and three-time European Champions, will then head to Hong Kong for the next stop of their tour in Asia.

REUTERS/Ken Cedeno America will celebrate its 250th birthday with a UFC fight card at the White House, Dana White confirmed Tuesday. The UFC boss said he is meeting with President Donald Trump and his daughter, Ivanka, to discuss logistics later this month in Washington, D.C. "It's absolutely going to happen," White told The Associated Press. "Think about that, the 250th birthday of the United States of America, the UFC will be on the White House south lawn live on CBS." The wheels started turning last month when Trump, a UFC enthusiast and friend of White's, expressed an interest in bringing the Octagon and upwards of 20,000 spectators to Pennsylvania Avenue. UFC owner TKO Group Holdings announced a seven-year, $7.7 billion media rights deal with Paramount, the parent company of CBS, on Monday. The deal begins in 2026. White said it was too early to speculate on a main event for a White House fight card. --Field Level Media/Reuters

(Photo: Aaron Doster-Imagn Images/REUTERS) Venus Wiliams secured entry into the main draw of her 25th US Open when she received a wildcard invitation Wednesday to play women's singles. Williams, 45, already had received a wildcard invitation to play mixed doubles with Reilly Opelka. Williams last appeared at the US Open in 2023 and last won a singles match at the event in 2019. Of her seven grand slam singles titles, two have come at Flushing Meadows, N.Y., (2000, 2001). When she takes the court for the tournament later this month, Williams will become the oldest participant in women's singles at the US Open since Renee Richards played in 1981 at age 47. Williams made her return to ATP play in July at the D.C. Open after not playing over the previous 16 months. Her first-round win over Peyton Stearns made her the oldest to win a singles match in 21 years. She also won a doubles match with partner Hailey Baptiste. Williams lost her first-round match last week at the Cincinnati Open, 6-4, 6-4 to Spain's Jessica Bouzas Maneiro. --Field Level Media/Reuters
