Kayden Moy death: Suspect appears in court charged with teenager's murder after beach stabbing
A teenager has appeared in court charged with murder after a 16-year-old boy was fatally stabbed on a beach in North Ayrshire at the weekend.
Kayden Moy, 16, was found seriously injured following a report of a disturbance at Irvine Beach on Saturday evening.
The victim, from East Kilbride in South Lanarkshire, received medical care at the scene before being taken to hospital, where he died on Sunday.
Police Scotland arrested and charged a 17-year-old boy in connection with the incident.
The suspect, who cannot be identified due to legal reasons, has been accused of murder, carrying an offensive weapon in a public place, and attempting to pervert the course of justice.
The teenager, from East Kilbride, made no plea to the three charges when he appeared at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Tuesday.
He was remanded in custody and is due back in the dock within the next eight days.
Specially trained officers are continuing to support Kayden's family.
In a statement previously released through the force, his family thanked all those who have shown support.
They added: "He was loved by so many, and that is shown in the huge number of heartfelt messages we have received since his death."
Kayden was a former pupil at Duncanrig Secondary School, with his ex-headteacher Annette Alexander describing him as a "kind and caring young man and full of character".
Busby AFC, where Kayden played in the youth set-up for several years, has launched a fundraiser for his family.
More than £11,000 has been raised as of 4pm on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, an online portal has been set up to allow members of the public to submit information directly to officers investigating the incident.
Detective Chief Inspector Campbell Jackson said: "We have a dedicated team of officers working on this investigation and I am again asking anyone who may have information which could help us and who has not yet come forward, to please contact us.

Washington State police released new images of the dad accused of murdering his three daughters as they continue their search for the former Army soldier. Travis Decker, 32, is wanted for the murder of his children Paityn, nine, Evelyn, eight, and Olivia, five. Authorities started searching for Decker's daughters after they failed to return home from a scheduled visit with him on May 30. On Monday, the sisters' lifeless bodies were discovered at a campsite in Leavenworth - about 20 miles from their home. Their wrists had been bound with zip ties and each of them had been suffocated with a plastic bag. A massive manhunt is underway for the missing father, and the Chelan County Sheriff's Office released new images of Decker on Saturday. An updated wanted poster showed Decker wearing a tan shirt with the number 59 on the sleeve, dark shorts, flip flops with his hair tied back, carrying pizza boxes. The poster also included close up photos of Decker's tattoos on his arms and ankle, and stated that Decker was 'last seen wearing tan or green t-shirt, dark shorts.' 'Updated photos of murder suspect Travis Decker, who is considered dangerous and may be armed. Do not approach, call 911 immediately,' the poster stated. The Chelan County Sheriff's Office announced they would be removing road blocks and reopening roads after hundreds of law enforcement personnel search dozes of structures and the forest. Authorities started searching for Decker's daughters after they failed to return home from a scheduled visit with him on May 30 His daughters' remains were also found 'relatively close to the Canadian border and approximately 11 miles from the Pacific Crest Trail, a well-established trail that leads directly to Canada,' per the affidavit. Decker, who is wanted on three counts each of first-degree murder and first-degree kidnapping, also 'has training in navigation, woodland/mountainous terrain, long distance movements, survival and numerous other disciplines needed to be able to flee,' the affidavit continued. 'Prior to the above alleged crimes, Decker frequently recreated in outdoor, woodland and mountainous areas throughout the Eastern District of Washington and surrounding states,' it read. 'Amongst other outdoorsman activities, Decker frequently engaged in hiking, camping, survival skill practice, hunting and even lived off the grid in the backwoods for approximately 2.5 months on one occasion.'

Tragic mother's attacker is given a taste of freedom after just one year in prison
A 'violent monster' who was jailed for abusing his partner before her death has been offered a taste of freedom – after serving just one year behind bars. Demi Hannaway, 23, died in May 2021 after Andrew Brown throttled, spat at, and hit her countless times over two years, often in front of their children. Last year the 33-year-old admitted abusive and threatening behaviour and was jailed for three-and-a-half years. A Fatal Accident Inquiry initially concluded that the 23-year-old killed herself, but her parents insist Brown may have been responsible. Now just 13 months since a Sheriff accused him of 'horrendous' crimes and sent him to jail, Brown is preparing to spend up to a week every month on home leave. The thug has already moved to open prison Castle Huntly, where he has been allowed out to do work placements and meet with social workers. Demi's devastated parents, who have previously campaigned for Brown to be dealt a harsher sentence, say the news has left them 'sickened to our stomachs'. Mum Helen stressed: 'A violent monster like Brown should not be walking the streets just a year after being sentenced to almost four years in jail. The Justice Secretary needs to answer some very tough questions on how and why this has happened.' The decision to grant Brown additional freedoms comes after Scotland's top law officer ordered a fresh investigation into the nature of Demi's death in February. They have criticised Police Scotland's handling of the investigation, lodging a formal complaint including claims that police took an hour to arrive and there was evidence of a violent struggle in the house. Teenager stabbed to death in Bradford named by police
A man who was stabbed to death in a fight outside a shop in Bradford has been named by Junaid Khan, 19, from Bradford, died at the scene while two other men, aged 24 and 27, received stab wounds following the incident on Loughrigg Street, off Newton Street in West Bowling, on Yorkshire Police previously said three of the eight men arrested - one aged 18 and two aged 24 - were being questioned on suspicion of 27-year-old men and two men, aged 24 and 26, were arrested on suspicion of affray, and a 53-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.
