
Akmal Nasir, Lee Chean Chung and others to know outcome of objections to PKR poll results next week
KUALA LUMPUR, April 25 — The status of objections involving the outcome of several Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) divisional elections will be announced next week, said Party Election Committee (JPP) chairman Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa
Dr Zaliha, who is also Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Federal Territories), said the committee is currently awaiting reports before making a final decision.
'It will take time as we need to thoroughly review all objections and complaints before coming to a conclusion.
'There are several objections involving divisional results and we will announce the outcome next week,' she told reporters after the launch of the Warisan KL: Warisan Ibu Kota Malaysia MADANI project by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, here today.
Yesterday, Dr Zaliha said any objections and appeals submitted by PKR leaders over the divisional-level election results would be assessed by the Complaints Committee and the Appeals Committee before further action is taken.
She said the Complaints Committee, chaired by Datuk Ahmad Kassim, will evaluate all objections and complaints, while the Appeals Committee, chaired by Mohd Khuzzan Abu Bakar, will handle appeals.
Among those who have filed formal objections with the JPP is Deputy Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation, Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir, following his defeat in the contest for the Johor Bahru division chief post.
Other leaders who have taken similar steps include PKR communications director Lee Chean Chung (Petaling Jaya), deputy information chief Chua Wei Kiat (Selayang), and Sungai Siput MP Kesavan Subramaniam, who has lodged an official appeal with the JPP after narrowly losing in the Sungai Siput division.

Immigration denies issuing Aidiladha meat distribution guidelines
KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Immigration Department has denied issuing any statement regarding guidelines for the distribution of "Qurban" (sacrificial) meat at mosques in conjunction with the Hari Raya Aidiladha celebration. Immigration deputy director-general (management) Ismail Mokhtar said the department was aware of the false statement, dated June 5, 2025, that had gone viral. "For the record, the statement is false and has never been issued by Immigration," he said in a statement here Saturday (June 7). He also advised the public to always refer to the department's official channels for accurate and authentic information. "Immigration takes the dissemination of false information seriously, especially when it can lead to public confusion. Any unauthorised use of the department's official emblem and name is an offence and may be subject to legal action," he added. The fake statement, dated June 5, 2025, that went viral, used the name of Immigration director-general Datuk Zakaria Shaaban. Among the things claimed in the statement was that only foreign nationals with valid work permits and visas, or those with United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) cards, were allowed to receive Qurban meat at mosques. National Youth Day Celebration To Showcase Elements Of ASEAN

Vikneswaran KUALA LUMPUR, June 7 (Bernama) -- The National Youth Day (HBN) celebration on June 13-15 will be unique as it will showcase elements of ASEAN, in line with Malaysia's Chairmanship of ASEAN 2025. The HBN Secretariat said the programme for the celebration at Dataran Merdeka includes the ASEAN Pavillion and ASEAN Concert to create the spirit of the ASEAN community and strengthen the culture of ASEAN countries among the youth. "The role of youth is seen as vital to strengthening ASEAN's regional network, particularly future collaborations in the fields of economy, leadership, education, technological innovation and social. In fact, youth can also act as junior ambassadors who can elevate the country's image globally,' it said in a statement. Themed "Yakin Boleh' (Believe You Can), the highlight of the 61st HBN celebration will be attended by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who will officiate the event and present the 2025 National Premier Youth Award (APBN) on June 14. "The theme illustrates the confidence, capability and competitiveness of the youth in facing challenges, including that of the current digital era. This theme also aligns with the MADANI government's efforts to empower youths through various strategic initiatives as well as the values of confidence within the MADANI framework,' it added. With the targeted presence of 4 million visitors, the Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS), through the National Youth and Sports Department (JBSN), has activated the HBN celebration at the grassroots level by implementing the Semarak HBN initiative in 113 districts nationwide since May 15. Hari Raya Aidiladha celebrated with festive spirit nationwide
KUALA LUMPUR: Muslims nationwide today celebrated the Hari Raya Aidiladha with grateful hearts as thousands of congregants, including leaders, filled mosques together to perform their Aidiladha prayers. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and his wife, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, together with about 15,000 congregants performed the solat sunat Hari Raya Aidiladha at Masjid Putra, Putrajaya, with the mosque's Grand Imam, Dr Muhamad Zakuwa Rodzali delivering the sermon titled "Korban dan Semangat Kebersamaan". In SELANGOR, the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah performed the solat sunat Aidiladha with more than 10,000 congregants at Masjid Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah, which was also attended by Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.
