Scottie Scheffler strolls to Open title at Royal Portrush
The world number one completed the third leg of the career Grand Slam, his fourth major in total, in style.
The 29-year-old American started out with a four-stroke lead and an anticipated chase from Rory McIlroy didn't quite materialise.
Hopes of a McIlroy victory were ended by his double bogey on the 10th, but enthusiasm remained as local fans followed his every shot.
There was also great respect and appreciation shown by the home crowd to 2019 winner Shane Lowry who finished with 66 on Sunday, including five birdies on the front nine.
Hundreds of thousands of fans descended on the north coast from all over the world throughout the week.
The championship produced an 'amazing' atmosphere, local and international fans said, as the tournament drew to a close.
