Auburn in third Elite Eight after taking down Michigan
Denver Jones and Tahaad Pettiford added 20 points apiece for the Tigers (31-5), who rallied from a nine-point, second-half deficit en route to the program's third Elite Eight, where they will face No. 2 seed Michigan State on Sunday for a spot in the Final Four.
Danny Wolf scored 20 points to lead Michigan (27-10), while Vladislav Goldin chipped in 10 points and nine rebounds and Nimari Burnett also had 10 points, paired with seven boards.
Trailing 30-29 at halftime, Michigan opened the second half on a 13-6 run, capped with Roddy Gayle Jr.'s three-point play to build a 42-36 edge with 14:36 left.
Broome cut Auburn's deficit in half with a three-point play of his own, before Wolf's consecutive layups and Will Tschetter's two free throws extended the Wolverines' lead to 48-39 with 12:26 to play.
From there, Pettiford and Denver Jones each buried a 3-pointer, beginning a 12-0 Auburn run to grab a 51-48 lead at the 9:19 mark.
Rubin Jones answered with a much-needed layup for Michigan, but Jones continued to find the range, knocking in two more 3-pointers and a layup to push Auburn's cushion to 59-50.
The prolonged run was extended to 28-6 after Pettiford's triple and three-point play gave the Tigers a 67-54 edge, igniting the Auburn-heavy State Farm Arena crowd. Chaney Johnson's dunk punctuated Auburn's 31st win - setting a program record.
After an early 6-0 spurt gave Auburn a 9-5 edge, Goldin and Tre Donaldson's back-to-back baskets stamped a 10-4 Michigan run to grab a 15-13 lead with just over 11 minutes left.
Wolf scored the Wolverines' next seven points, including his dunk for a 22-21 advantage. Michigan's largest lead of the first half came at the 5:22 mark, when Burnett's 3-pointer pushed the margin to 27-23.
Broome accounted for the final three points of the opening half, giving Auburn a one-point halftime lead. In a sloppy first 20 minutes, the Tigers turned the ball over 10 times, while Michigan was forced into eight giveaways.

Five-star safety Bralan Womack commits to Auburn over Ohio State
Auburn football has landed its biggest pledge of the 2026 cycle in the nation's top safety, Bralan Womack. Womack, a five-star safety from Flowood, Mississippi, announced his commitment to Auburn on Thursday, choosing the Tigers over Ohio State, Florida, and Texas A&M. Womack began trending to Auburn during his official visit in June when he told Christian Clemente of Auburn Undercover that he felt "comfortable" at Auburn. Following his visit, the Director of Recruiting for Rivals, Chad Simmons, shared during an episode of the Simmons Scoop earlier this month that Auburn and Ohio State were "toe-to-toe", which led to a prediction that favored Auburn to land Womack by Steve Wiltfong, also of Rivals. The talented safety detailed his reasoning for choosing Auburn with Tom Loy of 247Sports following his decision. "Just a relationships. From a football standpoint, I believe in coach (DJ) Durkin and coach (Hugh) Freeze to take care of the football aspect," Womack said. "But you also want to enjoy your time in college. You don't want to be miserable in college. You can't just pick a school because they are good at football. I know Auburn wasn't the best last year, but like my mom says, 'God will never send you somewhere that's perfect, but He will send you somewhere that has a purpose.' I'm very confident in this decision." The addition of the nation's top safety has Auburn inching closer to a top-25 class. The Tigers now rank No. 35 in 247Sports' 2026 recruiting rankings with one five-star and four four-stars in the class. Rivals predicts Auburn to secure the pledge of five-star safety Bralan Womack
The Auburn Tigers could receive some good news this week on the recruiting front in football. Steve Wiltfong of Rivals has predicted that Auburn will gain a commitment from 2026 five-star safety Bralan Womack. He is rated the No. 1 safety in the Rivals300. He would be the highest-rated commitment the Tigers have received for the 2026 class. They recently landed four-star wide receiver Jase Mathews for the class. According to 247Sports, Auburn ranks No. 54 overall with 12 players committed. Like Mathews, Womack is from the state of Mississippi. 247Sports has Womack rated as the No. 2 player in Mississippi and the No. 13 overall prospect. He attends Hartfield Academy and helped lead his team to a state championship last season as a junior. On defense, he had 39 tackles and eight interceptions. He is also a playmaker for the offense. Last season, he caught 54 passes for 1,045 yards and 13 touchdowns. Womack makes good things happen for his team. Auburn already has one safety committed for the 2026 class. Wayne Henry picked the Tigers on August 5th, 2024. While Henry is talented, Womack would be a huge upgrade for the position. He is currently being recruited by Ohio State, Texas A&M, and Florida. Womack is scheduled to make his decision known on Aug. 21. Auburn fans will want to keep an eye out for this potential commitment on Thursday. Recruiting Insider Names SEC Program That Will be Flipping a lot of Recruits
Recruiting Insider Names SEC Program That Will be Flipping a lot of Recruits originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Auburn Tigers have not had the best luck recently when it comes to recruiting in the 2026 class. Auburn's 2026 recruiting currently ranks No. 56 overall on On3 Sports. However, Rivals' Steve Wiltfong thinks that could change very soon. He believed Auburn could be flipping many 2026 prospects if the Tigers could compete for a College Football Playoff spot. Wiltfong already predicted that Auburn could flip five-star offensive tackle Immanuel Iheanacho from the Oregon Ducks. Rivals' Sam Spiegelman predicted that the Tigers would flip UNLV defensive lineman commit Isaiah Broughton. Broughton's brother Vernon played for the Texas Longhorns last season and currently plays for the New Orleans Saints in the NFL. "Auburn has injected the roster with two Top 10 recruiting classes and what should be several impact transfers," Wiltfong said. "Compete for a playoff spot and they'll be Spatula U at the end of this 2026 cycle." If Auburn really wants the title of "Spatula U," then it will need production from its top transfers and returning players. The Tigers' transfer class is led by former Oklahoma Sooners quarterback Jackson Arnold, former Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets receiver Eric Singleton Jr. and former Virginia Tech Hokies offensive tackle Xavier Chaplin. The team brings back production on both sides of the ball with players like receiver Cam Coleman, offensive lineman Bradyn Joiner and linebacker Demarcus Riddick all returning. Auburn looks to reach the playoff and secure a winning season for the first time in Hugh Freeze's tenure in 2025. Freeze enters his third year with the program with an 11-14 record and one bowl appearance. Freeze kicks off the year against the Baylor Bears on August story was originally reported by Athlon Sports on Aug 7, 2025, where it first appeared.
