Television heartthrob Shabir Ahluwalia is making a much-anticipated return to the small screen in a fresh new avatar. Playing the role of Yug, a sharp-witted and emotionally complex lawyer in Ufff… Yeh Love Hai Mushkil, Shabir brings a unique charm to the character.
Known for his powerful screen presence, the actor underwent a major transformation for the role—shedding 14 kgs in just three months through a sustainable and holistic approach.
In an exclusive chat with Times of India TV, Shabir opened up about his wife Kanchi Kaul's reaction to his new role. 'She really loved the promos,' he shared with a smile. 'It's a slice-of-life take on a television show. It's not too preachy or morose.
It is very light and entertaining and a fresh space. You won't get to see this often.'
Describing the essence of the show, he added, 'It launches the love story between two people. It's a love story between two ideologies and how when they meet, sparks will fly—which will eventually translate to love or not, audiences will get to see in Love Hai Mushkil.'
On what drives him to take up new roles, Shabir explained, 'Every time I take up a script, I see how different it is from my earlier roles and how entertaining it is.
It's very important for you to believe in a script before you believe in a role.'
He elaborated further, 'When you think of your role, you get greedy and start thinking, 'My role is like this,' and tend to overlook the script. It is important for a script to be entertaining and moving in totality. The audience watches you for a long time—they don't just fall in love with you as a person, but also the things you do. It's a journey, a process—from reading the script to coming on screen—and for me, that's the most enjoyable part of filmmaking.

Hartaaj expressed his disappointment after Gullu (Kushal) got to see him perform his task, while he was sent first and didn't get a chance to see the task. He shared, 'Everyone on social media is saying what happened with me was unfair. Why did Gullu get a chance to see my performance while I didn't get to see anything? The show wanted Gullu to win and that's why they planned it all. I'm very disappointed.' He further said, 'There was a puzzle task as well. However, they removed everything where brain has to be used because they knew if that would be the case, then I'll win it. I feel extremely bad because it's just so unfair. This shouldn't have happened.' Elvish, on the other hand, spoke about his journey and mentioned, 'My journey as a gang leader on Roadies XX was amazing. Initially, I didn't know what to do or how to play, but my fellow gang leaders helped me, and I learnt a lot from them. I came on the show only for the love of the audience and didn't expect to win. However, now that I've won, it feels amazing.' Talking about Gullu winning the show, he said, 'Gullu didn't get many chances on the show. He was evicted when he first came and later made a wildcard entry. However, he did very well whenever he got a chance, and according to me, he's a very deserving winner. If Yogesh from my gang had won, I'd be equally happy.'

Why does Shabir Ahluwalia believe having two sons is better than one?

Shabir Ahluwalia is one of the most beloved celebrities in the industry. Over the years, the actor has worked on numerous shows and has won the hearts of fans with his performances. Now, Shabir is set to return to the screen, and his fans are eagerly anticipating his comeback. Recently, he appeared on Bharti Singh's podcast, where he was asked about his experience raising two sons. In response, Shabir elaborated on the advantages of having two sons as children. When Bharti Singh asked him how it feels having two sons, Shabir Ahluwalia added, "Jaise kehte hai na ek se bhale do, voh ek reason ke liye kehte hai. Ek ke sath kya hota hai, unki energy ek alag level pe hoti hai. Unko match karna mushkil ho jaata hai ki unko niche le jaana hai, unke sath khelna hai, unke sath plan karna hai. Maza toh bohot aata hai par har roz hum alag alag game khelte hai. (You know how they say "two is better than one"? There's a reason for that. With just one person, their energy is on a whole different level. It's hard to match them — you have to bring them down a bit, play with them, and plan things around them. It's a lot of fun, but every day it's a different game)." Further, Shabir Ahluwalia explained the benefits of having two sons and revealed, "Jab do hote hai, do jan aapas mei itna khelte hai, ek dusre ko thaka dete hai. Toh jab aate hai sirf baat chalti hai khane ki bhook lagi hai. So koi plan banana nhi padta hai. I think ek se bhale do. Do jan starting mei dikhat hoti hai par jab 4-5 ke ho jaate hai na toh aapas mai hi entertain karte hai aur waah. (When there are two, they play so much with each other that they tire each other out. So when they come to you, it's just about food- they're hungry. You don't even have to make a plan. I think two is better than one. In the beginning, it's a bit of a challenge, but once they are four or five years old, they just entertain each other, and it's amazing)." Along with Shabir Ahluwalia, Ashi Singh had also appeared on Bharti Singh and Haarsh Limbachiyaa's podcast. The two spoke about their show Ufff Yeh Love Hai Mushkil. They even shared their work experiences. Speaking about his personal life, Shabir Ahluwalia married Kanchi Kaul on November 27, 2011.
