Sandhya Rani inaugurates PHC
Thonam (ParvathipuramManyam): Minister of Women and Child Welfare and Tribal Welfare Gummidi Sandhya Rani has inaugurated Primary Health Centre (PHC) at Thonam of Salurumandal on Friday.
The PHC has been constructed with a cost of Rs.1.82 crores. The PHC caters the needs of tribal population belong to adjacent mandals. The PHC is equipped with latest machinery which helps to provide good health services and helpful to the public not go to the Community Health Centre of Saluru.
The Minister said that an additional building would come up with a cost of Rs.50 lakhs which could be utilized as birth waiting hall after delivery. The Minister stated that the Government is committed to provide good medical facilities to the triabals.
Due to the efforts taken in the ParvathipuramManyam District, the district stood in the best position in the state in normal deliveries and suggested the medical officers to continue the effort. The minister also inaugurated Ambulance and released posters to create awareness among the public on health concepts.

FDCA raid ghee unit, seize 2,700 kg stock on suspicion of adulteration
Ahmedabad: The Food and Drug Control Administration (FDCA), in collaboration with the Surendranagar district food supply officer, conducted a raid at a ghee manufacturing unit in Gugaliyana village of Thangadh taluka on Tuesday. During the operation, they confiscated 2,700 kg of stock valued at Rs 13 lakh. FDCA commissioner H G Koshia said, "Our team raided Shiv Industries and Maheshwari Products and Chemicals, run by Rajesh Chavda, and found stock of branded ghee (Shree Bhog), loose ghee, butter, and refined palmolein oil. There is a suspicion of adulteration in the ghee. So, we took samples of four items. Our team seized stock weighing 2,700 kg, worth about Rs 13 lakh from the spot. We sent the samples to the laboratory for testing, and once the testing results arrive, we will carry out further legal processes. "

OWSSB forms panel to prepare silk city sewerage system project report
1 2 Berhampur: A sewerage scheme for Berhampur is finally moving forward as the Odisha Water Supply and Sewerage Board (OWSSB) has constituted a seven-member technical committee to prepare a detailed project report (DPR). The committee, headed by project director Biswabandhu Panigrahi, will evaluate technical specifications, review proposals and assess tender and cost estimations for the comprehensive sewerage system. However, no specific timeline has been set for the DPR's completion. A DPR prepared in 2017 by a Bengaluru-based consultancy firm, estimated at Rs 587 crore, proposed laying 300-km of sewerage pipeline and treating 54 million litres of greywater daily. However, the project failed to take off. "The new technical committee will prepare a revised DPR considering the increased greywater generation due to urban expansion," said Berhampur MP Pradeep Kumar Panigrahy. He emphasised that the modern system would include recycling greywater for irrigation and other purposes after treatment. Berhampur MLA K Anil Kumar welcomed the development, stating a sewerage system was among his top priorities after being elected. He had previously urged the housing and urban development minister to implement a comprehensive sewerage system for the silk city. Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BeMC) now processes waste water through a faecal sludge treatment plant (FSTP). The new system aims to address the growing concern of water body pollution caused by untreated greywater from households. The project is expected to significantly improve the city's sanitation infrastructure and environmental conditions, benefiting its growing population.

'Tragedy erased joy of victory': Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah on Bengaluru stampede, orders magisterial probe
The celebrations took a tragic turn on Wednesday afternoon when a massive crowd gathered outside Chinnaswamy Stadium for the victory parade. Eleven people, including a woman and a Class 9 student, died in the stampede. Over 30 others were injured, and there are concerns the toll may rise. 'May the souls of the deceased rest in peace, and those injured and undergoing treatment in the hospital, recover as soon as possible. My condolences to the grieving families of those who lost their loved ones,' the chief minister added. Siddaramaiah also said that the doctors have confirmed that the injured are out of danger adding that most of the deceased are young. Speaking to the media after the incident, Siddaramaiah said the crowd was far bigger than expected. "But the number of people who turned up is estimated to be two-three lakhs. We assumed there would be as many people as the stadium would accommodate or a bit more, but not as many as had actually turned up," he said, noting that the stadium has a capacity of 35,000. He announced Rs 10 lakh compensation for the families of those who died and assured free treatment for the injured.
