Bills' 2025 'To-Do List' Revealed originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
Mid-June marks the quiet portion of the NFL offseason. OTAs and mandatory minicamps are over, and players are off until the start of training camps.

But, that doesn't mean coaches and general managers are exactly putting their feet up, waiting for action to happen. Bleacher Report's Kristopher Knox compiled a "to-do list" for each NFL team for the remainder of the offseason, and the Buffalo Bills' list has some intriguing options.
First and foremost, Knox wants the Bills to end the contract dilemma with running back James Cook, and pay him.
"The Buffalo Bills were only a few plays away from reaching the Super Bowl in January, so much of the offseason has been about maintaining continuity." Knox wrote. "Ascending running back James Cook should be considered a long-term piece of the puzzle."
Cook has spent the offseason being vocal about his desire for a new contract. Cook made a somewhat-surprising appearance at mandatory minicamp, which many expected him to skip out on and initiate a holdout until he got a new deal.

"While the Bills barely have any cap space remaining, general manager Brandon Beane should do what he can to extend Cook to ensure the backfield leader has no distractions in 2025." Knox wrote.
Next on Knox's list is creating a plan for receiver Keon Coleman. Coleman was selected by the Bills in the second round of the 2024 NFL draft, but his rookie season was underwhelming at best. Knox insists that Buffalo figure out how to unlock him.
"Head coach Sean McDermott and offensive coordinator Joe Brady, meanwhile, need to set up a plan for second-year receiver Keon Coleman." Knox wrote. "The 2024 second-round pick was expected to become Josh Allen's new go-to wideout, but his rookie numbers (556 yards, 4 TDs) left plenty to be desired. It's imperative that the Bills figure out how to highlight Coleman's strengths and create a rapport between him and Allen."
Last, but not least, Knox points to the safety position, writing the Bills should "examine safety options."

Knox cited analysis from fellow Bleacher Report writer Alex Ballentine, who wrote "Perhaps Cole Bishop will take on more responsibility in his second season, but the starting combo of Damar Hamlin and Taylor Rapp are the weak link of the defense as constructed."
Knox noted there are a few veteran options still available in free agency, such as Justin Simmons, Marcus Williams and Chuck Clark.

Thin Mets rotation could receive help from Hagenman on Friday and Montas debut may soon follow

ATLANTA (AP) — A depleted New York Mets' rotation could see right-hander Justin Hagenman make his first start of the season on Friday at Philadelphia. Perhaps of more significance, the Mets debut for right-hander Frankie Montas could soon follow. The Mets on Thursday recalled Hagenman and right-handed reliever Dedniel Núñez from Triple-A Syracuse and optioned right-hander Ty Adcock to Syracuse. Right-hander Max Kranick was also placed on the 15-day injured list with a right elbow strain. Hagenman, who gave up one run in 3 1/3 innings in his only appearance for the Mets this season, was with the team for Thursday night's game at Atlanta. Manager Carlos Mendoza said Hagenman could pitch on Friday, either as a starter or in bulk relief behind an opener. Mendoza said Montas, who was placed on the IL with a strained right late on March 24, also may be ready to join the rotation despite allowing eight homers and posting a 12.05 ERA in six minor league rehab games. Montas allowed 30 hits in 18 2/3 innings in his series of rocky rehab outings. 'I mean, I'm not going to lie, you know, he got hit,' Mendoza said of Montas. 'He got hit around, you know? But look, we seen it before where guys in spring training struggle and they get hit around. And once you put him on a big league game under the lights and your game plan, and you make adjustments and they flip the switch. He's had success before at this level.' Montas, 32, signed a $34 million, two-year contract with the Mets in December. Montas missed most of the 2023 season because of shoulder surgery. He was 3-3 with a 4.53 ERA in 11 starts for Milwaukee in 2024. The Mets' rotation needs help. Right-hander Tylor Megill was placed on the 15-day injured list on Tuesday with a right elbow sprain and will miss at least one month. Last week, right-hander Kodai Senga was placed on the 15-day injured list with a right hamstring strain. Mendoza said Kranick, who had a 3.65 ERA, returned to New York on Thursday for an MRI after having continued discomfort in his elbow on Wednesday when he played catch and then tried to throw from the mound. Kranick, 27, was recalled from Syracuse on June 13. The Mets took a five-game losing streak into Thursday night's game. Mendoza said he was encouraged by the progress of third baseman Brett Baty, who missed the first two games of the series with a groin injury. ___ AP MLB:

Los Blancos are one of the favorites to win the competition and will look to go all the way this summer. Advertisement Real Madrid are in Group H with Al Hilal, Club Pachuca, and RB Salzburg. The Spanish giants will debut under their new manager, Xabi Alonso, but he may be without one of the team's star players for the opening match. Kylian Mbappe may miss the first game of the Club World Cup with Real Madrid after not participating in the last training session today before the match against Al Hilal. Luckily for him and the fans, the reason is not due to an injury. Kylian Mbappe's illness causes mild concern The club reported that Mbappé has a fever, which prevented him from training with the rest of the team today. Xabi Alonso trained the rest of the team ahead of tomorrow's match, and it is yet unclear if Mbappe is fully ruled out for the game. Advertisement There is still a possibility that Mbappe will feature in the game against Al Hilal tomorrow in Miami. If the player starts to feel better, reports suggest that Mbappe may be able to play, but starting on the bench. The French striker trained with the team yesterday. Mbappe even signed autographs for fans during their session. Mundo Deportivo reports that Mbappe began feeling sick after the training session yesterday. Real Madrid's schedule in the Club World Cup After the game tomorrow against Al Hilal, Real Madrid will play Pachuca and RB Salzburg. FIFA Club World Cup Set to Implement Three Unique 'Americanized' Rules

FIFA Club World Cup Set to Implement Three Unique 'Americanized' Rules originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The FIFA Club World Cup begins today when Inter Miami and Al Ahly play the opening game of the tournament at Hard Rock Stadium. Advertisement The tournament will last until July 13, but for the group stages, the soccer stars will get used to the unique rules used for American sports. The Club World Cup, held in the United States, will reportedly regulate three new rules that many stars who play in Europe are not accustomed to. They will reportedly be practiced in tonight's Inter Miami vs Al Ahly match. It will involve the pre-match, during halftime, and during the match itself. One of the rules will give the audience a unique experience. Another may cause issues among players and coaches from teams not used to this new environment during a matchday. Lastly, one will provide a unique experience for the audience at the stadium and fans watching on their screens. NBA-Style Intros According to reports from ESPN Argentina and Esporte, the FIFA Club World Cup will introduce NBA-style team entrances for the players starting the match at the stadium. Advertisement Like the NBA, the team entrances will include having one player at a time be introduced by an announcer onto the pitch. The captain will enter the pitch last for each team; that would mean Lionel Messi will be lastly introduced for the Inter Miami entrance vs Al Ahly tonight. These special introductions for players will likely only be done for each team's first game of the tournament. Introductions for soccer players are normally a stadium announcer naming the players individually. This unique NBA-style introduction will add a new way for fans to support their players pre-match. Referee Body Cameras A few soccer games have showcased referee cameras in the past, but now the whole Club World Cup tournament will reportedly include them during broadcasts of the matches. Advertisement Something similar was used in the FIFA Intercontinental Cup in December 2024. FIFA announced that cameras would return for this summer's Club World Cup. Reports from Tiempo de Juego suggest that at the stadium, fans will be able to watch the referee's reviews live on the VAR. Halftime Interviews A feature that may cause unpopularity among the stars is the halftime interviews. These interviews are normally used in the NBA and the NFL. It has also been in soccer, but in the United States. The MLS and during games for the US Men's National team have featured halftime interviews with players or managers. The FIFA Club World Cup will reportedly make these interviews mandatory for players and managers. This could lead to tense interviews with angry managers or players, but full entertainment for fans.
