Over 170,000 Vehicles Affected By Airbag Issues
It's the start of a new week, and that means new recalls are being issued by the NHTSA. This time, it's Mazda at fault, with over 170,000 Mazda3 hatchbacks and CX-30 crossovers being recalled for an airbag issue that occurs under very specific circumstances. According to the recall documents, 2024-2025 examples of the abovementioned vehicles could have a faulty sensor logic that may set an error code that deactivates the airbags.
Every Recalled Vehicle Has The Defect
Typically, when manufacturers discover an issue that requires a recall, the remedy only needs to be applied to a select percentage of the overall production run, but in this case, all 51,857 Mazda3s and 119,555 CX-30s (171,412 vehicles in total) have the defect, which only impacts vehicles in the U.S. and Canada. That's because the issue is not a small physical fault but an issue with the software they're all running. If the ignition switch is left on for more than two hours without the engine on and the battery dies, the airbag sensor stores an internal fault that causes the airbag warning light to be activated, and the airbags won't deploy in the event of a crash after the vehicle is restarted. Interestingly, the NHTSA notes that the issue doesn't appear if the battery is depleted in another way.
No Injuries Reported Despite Year-Long Investigation
Mazda first learned of the issue after a report was made in June last year, and it spent November and December implementing improved airbag sensor technology that will prevent the issue from appearing. Given the unusual circumstance in which the fault becomes evident, it's no surprise that it took so long for Mazda to correctly determine its cause. Fortunately, no injuries or accidents have been reported as a result of the issue. Dealers have been informed of the new software update for the recall and are preparing to provide a fix to owners at no cost to them. Owners will be notified by July 28, but in the meantime, NHTSA campaign number 25V357000 refers.

Ford's CEO calls its new EV a 'Model T moment,' a claim that suggests a revolution in affordability. We analyze if a low-cost, LFP-powered car can truly live up to the legacy of the car that put the world on wheels. The crossover segment is one of the most competitive in the automotive industry, but these August lease offers could put the Nissan Rogue in the spotlight. Coming off a ground-up redesign, the upcoming 2026 INFINITI QX80 SPORT is a new trim/grade for the luxury automaker. If you like a darker ride, check this out. Audi has a big deal on its smallest SUV For those looking to grab hold of the Audi rings, the diminutive entry-level 2025 Q3 is a tempting place to start. After all, it offers the hallmarks that separate it from its more plebeian Volkswagen corporate siblings. It's tastefully understated yet upscale, looking every bit like an Audi. True, its size might lead you to believe it was left in the dryer too long, but that subcompact footprint is deceptive, as there's a surprisingly roomy rear bench and 23.7 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats, growing to 48 cubic feet once they're stashed. It even has Apple and Android connectivity, which can be wireless if you pay for the optional Technology Package. 0:00 / -- Audi A5 replaces A4: So, what's changed? It's rated at 184 horsepower on the 40 TFSI model, and 228 horsepower on the 45 TFSI model. Each can be had in Premium or tonier Premium Plus trim. While far from Audi's hottest performer, it makes for a perfect urban conveyance with a touch of Audi luxury, and it can be had with a very tempting lease in August. The Audi Q3 lease deal, August 2025 Currently, Audi is offering a Q3 45 TFSI quattro Premium 36-month/30,000-mile lease for $469 per month, with a $4,289 due at signing, for residents of Florida. A security deposit is not included, and a $395 disposition fee is charged at lease end. The lease is based on an MSRP of $43,140, including destination charge. Price does not include tax, title, license, options, and dealer fees. All Q3 customers also get a $1,500 cash bonus on select Audi Q3 models. The deal is the same in Dallas or the Mid-Atlantic, but requires a $4,889 down payment, while in the Midwest, you'll need a $4,999 down payment. On the West Coast, you'll need to plunk down $5,363 to get the deal. Those in the Northeast will need the most cash at closing: $5,395. 2025 Audi Q3 — Source: Audi USA Keep in mind that, when leasing, consider the monthly payment cost, taxes, and fees before signing. Lease offers vary by metro market. Check your local pricing here. Prefer $0 down? If you lack the cash to put down, understand that there are some things you might have to pay, such as the first month's payment and acquisition fee. Nevertheless, should you opt for $0 down, your payment in Florida is around $550.25. In Dallas, it'll run $567, in the Midwest $570, on the West Coast $580, and in the Northeast $582. It's not the most spacious or the most powerful in its class, but it nails the basics with luxury, tech, and a driving experience that punches above its weight. This subcompact crossover is the perfect blend of luxury and practicality for people who want to drive something that feels premium but don't necessarily need to haul a family of six to a soccer game every weekend. Think of it as the SUV equivalent of a well-tailored suit: sharp, stylish, and just the right amount of substance. *Disclaimer: This article is provided for informational purposes only. 2026 INFINITI QX80 SPORT Mixes Athleticism With Pure Luxury

Jaguar's rebrand has sparked a storm of criticism from customers, insiders and now Donald Trump, who called it 'stupid and seriously woke.' Originally a sedan, this Jaguar was custom-built into a convertible for Noel Gallagher before he even got his driver's license. The new Infiniti QX80 is here to take on the domestic competition The recently redesigned 2026 INFINITI QX80 is a full-size, body-on-frame luxury SUV that seats up to seven and competes with the likes of the Chevrolet Tahoe, GMC Yukon Denali, and Cadillac Escalade. One of INFINITI's most popular models, the new QX80 arrives with a fully overhauled interior, featuring heated and ventilated first and second-row seats, and—for the first time—available third-row heating. It emphasizes comfort across all three rows, aiming to set a new benchmark in luxury for the brand. Trim levels for the 2026 QX80 include PURE, LUXE, SPORT (new for 2026), and AUTOGRAPH. 2026 Infiniti QX80 Sport — Source: Infiniti INFINITI ditched the old V8 in favor of more power and better economy. Power comes from a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6, which is rated for 450 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque. It's paired to a 9-speed automatic transmission, feeding the rear or all four wheels. While the powertrain and platform are shared with the Nissan Armada (specifically, the Armada NISMO) this is a vehicle built for luxury and a bit of sport, while the Armada is less sophisticated. By providing your email address, you agree that it may be used pursuant to Arena Group's Privacy Policy. We may receive compensation. Higher-end trims have an available 'Electronic Air Suspension' system paired with 'Dynamic Digital Suspension.' According to INFINITI, the air suspension lowers by 1.2 inches at speed for aerodynamic improvements. When parked, it can lower by 2.8 inches from its normal position to an Easy Access level, dramatically easing the ingress and egress of passengers or the loading of cargo. Finally, for use in more rugged terrain, an Off-road setting raises the air suspension 2.1 inches above the QX80's normal ride height. Being that this is still an SUV, the INFINITI QX80 is rated to tow up to 8,500 lbs (when properly equipped) and has 'Trailer Blind Spot Warning' which works when towing trailers up to 33 feet in length. Unlike Lincoln and Cadillac, there is only one size of QX80, and one powertrain. 2026 Infiniti QX80 Sport — Source: Infiniti Autoblog Newsletter Autoblog brings you car news; expert reviews and exciting pictures and video. The 2026 INFINITI QX80 SPORT goes a shade darker with blacked-out features throughout, and a unique interior design. There's a new front grille, a restyled front bumper, and a unique 22-inch wheel design. The exterior is replete with darkened elements, from black exterior trim to mirror caps, lower bumper finishers, roof rails, and emblems. The interior received some changes as well. The SPORT treatment includes a unique Dusk Blue color scheme, with dark matte chrome accents, graphite for the headliner and pillars, open-pore wood trim for the instrument panel and doors, and black/blue seat inserts for all three rows, including unique diamond-pattern perforation. The QX80 SPORT is available in Mineral Black, Radiant White, Grand Blue, or Dynamic Metal, and the latter three can optionally be paired with a contrasting Black Obsidian roof. 2026 Infiniti QX80 Sport — Source: Infiniti 'A year after its dramatic introduction, the INFINITI QX80 continues to elevate the standard in luxury SUVs, thrilling INFINITI clients with bold design and technology, while propelling strong sales at INFINITI retailers. We know that luxury drivers are looking to make a bold entrance wherever they go, so for 2026, we are dramatically amplifying QX80's Artistry in Motion styling with a SPORT grade offering a sleek, blacked-out appearance,' said Tiago Castro, vice president of INFINITI Americas. So far, I've been impressed with the new Nissan Armada, and I suspect the new QX80 should be quite a ride as well, but I have yet to test one. They are supposed to be available for evaluation soon, so stay tuned for reviews hitting the airwaves soon.

2025 Mazda CX-30 Vs. 2026 Honda HR-V: 5 Major Differences

Small crossovers with major value While small crossovers might not be as popular as their larger siblings, they can bring incredible value to the road for the right driver. The Mazda CX-30 and Honda HR-V are two close competitors, with similar pricing and equipment. Once they're compared head-to-head, however, each crossover has some distinct advantages over the other. 2026 Honda HR-V Sport — Source: Honda 1. Mazda CX-30 is the cheaper crossover Small crossovers are some of the most affordable vehicles in the automotive industry. When it comes down to the 2026 Honda HR-V and 2025 Mazda CX-30, there's a decisive winner. The Mazda CX-30 is priced from $25,195, while the Honda HR-V starts at $26,200. That difference grows larger once you take into account that the CX-30 comes with all-wheel drive, while the HR-V comes with front-wheel drive. Source: Mazda At the top of the range, the difference in price shrinks, although the CX-30 still has the advantage of standard AWD. The top-spec Honda HR-V EX-L is available from $30,050 and includes leather-trimmed seats, an eight-speaker audio system, and a nine-inch touchscreen display. The most comparably-equipped Mazda CX-30 model, the 2.5 S Carbon Edition, is available from $30,140. It comes equipped with an eight-speaker audio system, wireless smartphone connectivity, and an 8.8-inch touchscreen display. 2. Honda HR-V offers more interior space Compact crossovers, as their segment name implies, aren't the most spacious, but they still offer plenty of room for passengers and cargo. The Mazda CX-30 and Honda HR-V have comparable wheelbases, measuring 104.4 and 104.5 inches, respectively. Despite that similarity, the HR-V has a significant advantage when it comes to both passenger and cargo space. 2026 Honda HR-V — Source: Honda The Honda HR-V boasts up to 98.7 cu ft. of passenger space, with 39.4 inches of front headroom, 55.2 inches of rear shoulder room, and 37.7 inches of rear legroom. The Mazda CX-30 tops out at 94.1 cu ft. of passenger space without a moonroof, and it only tops the HR-V in a handful of measurements. In terms of cargo space, the Honda HR-V offers 24.4 cu ft. with the rear seats in their upright position, topping the Mazda CX-30's 20.2 cu ft. With the rear seats stowed or folded down, the Honda HR-V packs in 55.1 cu ft. of cargo space, while the CX-30 boasts just 45.2 cu ft. 3. Honda HR-V comes with more convenient tech Both the 2026 Honda HR-V and 2025 Mazda CX-30 come equipped with a long list of standard safety systems, but convenient infotainment options are a major purchasing factor for many drivers. In that sense, the Honda HR-V has several advantages over its rival. While the CX-30 features an 8.8-inch touchscreen display, the HR-V comes with a slightly larger nine-inch screen. The HR-V also features wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility across all trim levels, whereas you'll have to upgrade to the CX-30 2.5 S Carbon Edition to get rid of the wire. The Honda HR-V also comes with a standard wireless smartphone charging pad on all models, a feature that is reserved for higher CX-30 models. 2026 Honda HR-V — Source: Honda 4. Mazda CX-30 brings better performance When it comes to performance, the Mazda CX-30 is the clear winner. In addition to standard AWD, the CX-30 comes equipped with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 191 horsepower and 186 lb-ft of torque. If you aren't a fan of CVTs, the Mazda CX-30's power is transmitted via a six-speed automatic transmission, making it a great alternative. In terms of efficiency, the 2025 Mazda CX-30 is rated for 26 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway. 2025 Mazda CX-30 — Source: Mazda The Honda HR-V comes stocked with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine mated to a CVT, producing 158 horsepower and 138 lb-ft of torque. FWD comes standard, but you can upgrade to AWD for $1,500. 2026 Honda HR-V FWD models are rated for 26 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway. Upgrading to AWD reduces fuel economy by one to two miles per gallon, respectively. If you move up the Mazda CX-30 range, there's a more powerful 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine on the docket. With premium fuel, that engine produces up to 250 horsepower and 320 lb-ft of torque. Power continues to be delivered through a six-speed automatic transmission. Efficiency takes a slight hit, with turbocharged CX-30 models earning up to 22 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway. 2025 Mazda CX-30 — Source: Mazda Outside of a new native navigation system and more controls via voice commands, the Mazda CX-30 doesn't have many notable changes on the docket for the 2025 model year. That's not the case for the 2026 Honda HR-V. In addition to a slightly refreshed styling, the HR-V comes stocked with an updated list of standard equipment. 2026 Honda HR-V — Source: Honda Perhaps most notably, all 2026 Honda HR-V models now include a nine-inch touchscreen display, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, and a wireless smartphone charging pad. Rear privacy glass now comes standard on all trims as well, and the base LX model rides on gray 17-inch alloy wheels. The mid-tier Sport model gets a bit more stylish, with black tailgate badging and black 18-inch alloy wheels. The EX-L model gets new 18-inch wheels as well. Inside, the EX-L trim rounds out the major changes with silver steering wheel spokes, dynamic climate control knob lighting, and front footwell lighting. Final thoughts 2025 Mazda CX-30 — Source: Mazda When it comes down to brass tacks, a small crossover can make for a great first car, as well as a viable option for drivers looking to downsize. With affordable pricing, respectable efficiency, and key features that hit all the right notes, it's hard to go wrong with either the Mazda CX-30 or Honda HR-V. If driving dynamics are the name of the game, however, the former's more powerful engine and standard all-wheel drive make it the easy choice. If you're more techy or need more space, then the HR-V's interior is likely the better option. About the Author Joseph Pudlewski View Profile
