Public must work together to stop bullying - Mohd Na'im
KUALA LUMPUR: Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na'im Mokhtar today urged Malaysians, especially Muslims, to work together to put an end to all forms of bullying. He said bullying is a vile act that not only causes physical harm but also leaves deep emotional scars. 'Islam teaches us to live with mutual respect and compassion, and to safeguard the rights and dignity of every individual. Bullying does not merely injure the body but also breaks hearts and extinguishes hope. 'Remember, the prayers of those who are wronged have no barrier before Allah. Therefore, avoid any form of injustice, even as small as a speck. Bullying must stop, and love must flourish,' he said in a video posted on Facebook today. Mohd Na'im added that bullying does not reflect Islamic values and urged the people to work together in fostering a harmonious society that upholds good relations. - Bernama

31 Arab, Islamic states condemn Netanyahu's ‘Greater Israel' vision, expansionist policies
ISTANBUL — The foreign ministers of 31 Arab and Islamic countries, along with the secretaries-general of the Arab League, the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), on Friday strongly condemned Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's (picture) recent statements on the so-called 'Greater Israel,' warning that they threaten Arab national security and regional stability, Anadolu Ajansi (AA) reported. 'These statements represent a grave disregard for, and a blatant and dangerous violation of the rules of international law and the foundations of stable international relations.' 'They also constitute a direct threat to Arab national security, to the sovereignty of states, and regional and international peace and security,' they said in a joint statement. Netanyahu told news channel i24 on Tuesday that he feels 'very attached' to the vision of a Greater Israel. He said he considers himself 'on a historic and spiritual mission' which 'generations of Jews that dreamt of coming here and generations of Jews who will come after us.' 'Greater Israel' is a term used in Israeli politics to refer to the expansion of Israel's territory to include the West Bank, Gaza, and Syria's Golan Heights, with some interpretations also including Egypt's Sinai Peninsula and parts of Jordan. The bloc stressed that while member states remain committed to international legitimacy and the UN Charter on prohibiting the use or threat of force, they 'will adopt all policies and measures that preserve peace, in a manner that serves the interests of all states and peoples.' The statement also condemned the approval by far-right Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich of a new settlement building in the occupied West Bank and his rejection of a Palestinian state, calling this a 'flagrant assault' on the Palestinian people's right to an independent, sovereign state with East Jerusalem as its capital. The bloc reiterated that Israel has no sovereignty over any part of the occupied Palestinian territories and denounced all Israeli settlement activities as violations of international law and UN Security Council Resolution 2334. It reaffirmed the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice, which found Israel's occupation illegal and called for its immediate end. The statement warned of the 'grave dangers' of Israel's expansionist policies in the West Bank, including daily incursions into Palestinian towns and refugee camps, settler violence, and attacks on Christian and Muslim holy sites, particularly Al-Aqsa Mosque. These actions, the ministers said, fuel the cycle of violence and hinder prospects for peace. The bloc also condemned 'Israel's crimes of aggression, genocide, and ethnic cleansing' in the Gaza Strip. It reiterated its call for an immediate ceasefire, unrestricted humanitarian access, and an end to the blockade, which has created famine-like conditions and collapsed Gaza's healthcare system. They categorically rejected any plans to displace Palestinians 'under any pretext' and held Israel fully responsible as the occupying power for the humanitarian catastrophe in the enclave. Emphasising that Gaza is an integral part of the occupied Palestinian lands, the bloc voiced support for the State of Palestine to assume full governance over Gaza and the West Bank under a unified authority, within the political program of the Palestine Liberation Organisation (PLO), the sole legitimate representative of the Palestinian people. — BERNAMA-ANADOLU

Old video of an ‘overly emo' minister re-surfaces to mock Fadhlina Sidek's unsuitability to helm MOE
A BIG red bull's eye seems to have been painted on Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek's back. Targeted for her perceived mishandling of Zara Qairina Mahathir's tragic death and the Education Ministry's (MOE) weak response to bullying in schools, to say the Nibong Tebal MP is under pressure is putting it mildly. The nationwide anger is seemingly an opportune time for the opposition to pour scorn and ridicule the 47-year-old former activist and lawyer who specialises in Islamic family law and child welfare. The latest to join the fray is renegade UMNO supreme council member Isham Jalil who dug up a video of a parliamentary session from 2023. The video shows an almost hysterical Fadhlina retorting to a written question by Wee Ka Siong in a belligerent manner. Banging her fists on the lectern, she sounded more like an exasperated housewife berating a child rather than a learned cabinet minister answering legitimate questions in the hallowed halls of the Dewan Rakyat. Editor's note: The description provided by KiniTV to the clip states: 'Education Minister, Fadhlina Sidek did not give space for (Datuk Seri) Wee Ka Siong (BN-Ayer Hitam) to interrupt to ask questions when winding up the Budget 2024 debate at the committee level for the MOE. During the debate earlier, Wee who is also the MCA president had questioned the inconsistent data provided by the MOE on the issue of teacher shortages. It may be old news but the timing couldn't be worse for the country's first female Education Minister as it just reinforces the perception that she is not cabinet material. Easily provoked This is more so as Isham who was also the former UMNO information chief sarcastically remarked on his Facebook page: 'Example of KBAT to kids on how not to answer a question (*not to be followed)'. Editor's Note: KBAT which stands for 'Kemahiran Berfikir Aras Tinggi' is a Malaysian educational framework focused on developing high-level thinking skills in school pupils. The post has already generated 8.1K likes, 3.8K comments and 912 shares at the time of writing which is an indication that – like it or no – the PKR women's wing chief is very much under the spotlight. Some commenters openly questioned her ability to carry such an important portfolio. It wasn't even a provocative query, observed one commenter. One commenter aimed a sarcastic barb at her being a 'PMX (Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim) sycophant'. The recent birthday message to PMX involving school kids chanting 'Happy Birthday, PMX' and 'We love you, PMX' also reinforces the view that she is nothing more than apple-polisher. Her fantastical outburst unfortunately led to claims that women were unsuited to such positions of power and authority. One commenter wondered just how Fadhlina was going to approach the issue of bullying in schools when a simple query in Parliament led to such an emotional tirade. It is not a good look for the Madani administration when the person in-charge of the education portfolio is being made to look incapable, emotionally unstable and foolish. It is certainly not great that calls for her to resign are getting increasingly louder and frequent by the day. – Aug 16, 2025.
