The Charming 4-Word Instruction Kate Middleton Gave to Prince George, Princess Charlotte & Prince Louis on the Balcony
Even from atop the Buckingham Palace balcony, Kate Middleton was in full motherhood mode, helping her three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis navigate what was likely an overwhelming occasion—celebrations connected to the 80th anniversary of VE Day—no matter how many times they've done it before. It was a rare appearance by the entire royal family on Monday to celebrate Victory in Europe Day and the fact that 80 years have gone by since Europe declared victory and marked the end of World War II on May 8, 1945. William and Kate's appearance, alongside their children, but also King Charles and Queen Camilla, kicked off a week full of events, but none with quite the same level of pomp and circumstance as Monday's event.
A big deal? Yes, but nothing George, Charlotte and Louis aren't prepped for, you would assume. Still, lip reader, Nicola Hackling, who chatted with Hello! magazine following the occasion, caught the Princess of Wales helping to guide her children in real time with a simple four-word instruction: 'Eyes to the sky,' Kate told them, just ahead of the RAF Red Arrows flypast.
With Prince Louis especially, she took extra care, narrating exactly what would happen to help keep him in the loop: 'When the flypast comes, you will see it smoke blue, white and red,' Kate says, according to Hackling. For his part, Louis, 7, replied: 'Look at the back/black one, they have lots of tanks.'Of course, all mothers know: The effort made by Kate to clue Louis in to what was ahead matters—without it, the little prince may have been caught off guard and reacted poorly. Worse, he may have missed it, looking up at the wrong moment. Longtime fans of Louis are well-aware that his balcony appearances tend to be pretty priceless. That four-word phrase, delivered by Kate, was short and sweet, but helped her kids stay focused and up to speed on what to expect.
Royals, they're just like us: In Kate's case, that means being in mom mode, no matter what.

James Blunt: It's not a love song, actually
When James Blunt released 'You're Beautiful' in 2005, it quickly climbed the charts around the world, hailed as a bittersweet love song perfect for weddings, first dances, and sappy rom-com montages. Twenty years later, the British singer is reminding fans that the track was never meant to be romantic. In fact, it's about something entirely different. 'Whoever thought a song about being high as a kite, stalking someone else's girlfriend would resonate quite so much?' Blunt said this week in a video posted to X (formerly Twitter). 'Thank you. You guys are beautiful.' Blunt has long maintained that the lyrics were never meant to be sentimental. The opening lines describe a brief, possibly delusional encounter on the subway: 'She smiled at me on the subway / She was with another man.' It's not a relationship. It's a fleeting obsession told from the point of view of someone clearly not doing great. 'It's always been portrayed as romantic,' he told the Guardian in 2020. 'But it's actually a bit creepy. It's about a guy (me) who's high and stalking someone else's girlfriend on the subway.' In 2014, Blunt admitted he grew to resent the song's ubiquity. 'It was force-fed down people's throats,' he told Hello! magazine. 'It became annoying.' The backlash to the hit was swift and intense, making Blunt a punchline. Over the years, Blunt has leaned into the joke, building a reputation as one of music's most self-aware and funniest personalities on social media. He's repeatedly poked fun at himself and his fans, even getting into a bizarre online spat with Piers Morgan over coffin shapes during the pandemic. Now, two decades after 'You're Beautiful' took over radios and wedding playlists everywhere, Blunt is celebrating its strange legacy with gratitude, a sense of humor and a reminder that, no, it's not a love song. And yet, the song helped him buy the house he lives in today. As he puts it: 'Thank you. You're beautiful.'

Princess Charlotte Set To Shine With a Bigger Royal Role This Summer
Princess Charlotte has a big summer ahead of her as her parents, Prince William and Kate Middleton continue to expand her royal role — one event at a time. The young royal, who turned 10 last month, is expected to have a busy summer holiday after wrapping up her school year in the coming weeks. The first event on her agenda will be Trooping the Cloud on June 14, per Hello! Magazine. As mom, Kate has been protective over her three children, including sons Prince George, 11, and Prince Louis, 7, so she only wants them to step into the spotlight when they are ready. More from SheKnows Prince Harry Reportedly Explored a Major Personal Change That Would Rock the Royal Family It's why a palace insider described Charlotte to People as 'a strong character' who is 'almost wise beyond her years.' That calm presence that royal fans consistently witness is 'truly her personality — it's not forced,' per childrenswear designer Amaia Arrieta. 'She looks very confident and at ease with herself and the environment she's in,' she told the media outlet. 'The maturity that comes with that responsibility—she seems to nail it every time.' It's why tennis fans are likely to see Princess Charlotte back at Wimbledon in July with her older brother to support their mother's royal patronage of the All England Lawn Tennis Club. Charlotte handled meeting Wimbledon champion Carlos Alcaraz like a pro last summer, so it wouldn't be out of the ordinary to see more moments like that this summer. Her leadership skills were noticed early on with her late great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, pointing out that Charlotte had great confidence, even as a little girl. 'The queen has joked that at home, even at Buckingham Palace, Charlotte rules the roost. And I think that very much is the feeling amongst the Cambridges,' royal expert Katie Nicholl told Entertainment Tonight in September 2019. 'Prince George may be the eldest child, but I think it's Charlotte who calls the shots and has everyone running rings around her.' Still, William and Kate are making sure Charlotte and her siblings experience as normal a childhood as they can. That means there will be plenty of downtime at their country home at Anmer Hall in Norfolk, England, and the royal family retreat to Balmoral Castle in Scotland in August. No matter what the summer of 2025 brings, Princess Charlotte appears to be of SheKnows From Free-Range to Fully Offbeat, These Celebs Embrace Unconventional Parenting Styles These '90s Girl Names Are All That and a Bag of Chips 26 Stunning, Unique Jewelry Brands & Pieces for Teens
