The company's main investors, Capnamic Ventures, Alstin Capital, Peak and San Francisco-based Storm Ventures, all took the opportunity to double down on their existing engagement alongside further previous investors.
This investment will accelerate the company's path to solidify its position as the market leader in expense management. With a strong focus on advancing AI capabilities, Circula has been enhancing its product to reduce manual workload by automating large parts of the expense management process with the goal of freeing up more time of finance teams for strategic work. This funding will drive further innovation. It will also support continued investment in workflow capabilities to cater even better to the needs of larger, international organizations that are seeking AI-powered consumer-graded experience without the fuzz of complex enterprise solutions, making Circula the #1 expense solution globally according to G2.com .
Nikolai Skatchkov, Co-Founder & CEO, Circula said: 'Over the last year, we have witnessed firsthand the potential that AI is unlocking in the finance department. We are excited to bring our vision of an AI-driven expense solution to the market in the upcoming months. The additional financing is giving us the means to continue to build the best product in our category and to continue our path toward an effortless way to manage payments and business expenses. We are excited to build this future with existing investors and CIBC Innovation Banking.'
The strategic funding from CIBC Innovation Banking highlights Circula's market position and strong business foundation.
Charlotte Goggin, Director of CIBC Innovation Banking said: 'We are pleased to extend funding to Circula as it continues to build on its market-leading position in digital expense management across Germany. Up until 2019, German businesses were required to keep physical expense receipts. Now, in an age where businesses juggle digital receipts from most employees, Circula provides finance teams with AI driven tools to automate this process. We're excited to see Circula take advantage of the growth opportunities that lie ahead.'
Stefan Bary, Managing Partner at Peak said: 'With a best-in-class user experience, Circula makes expense management extremely easy for employees as well as the whole financial department, resulting in a quadrupled customer base since we first met the company in 2021. We are very pleased to double down on Circula considering the further growth that is expected from its current offering and even steeper growth that the company's AI initiatives provide. '
Tae Hea Nahm, Co-Founding Managing Partner at Storm Ventures said: 'Circula is the leading expense solution for SMBs in Germany, with massive growth potential as only 10% of the market is automated. Their strong partnership with DATEV and its 30,000+ accountants, combined with deep expertise and proprietary tech, positions them to win the market. Roman and Nikolai have built a great product and team — we're doubling down on our investment.'

Man City 'preparing to loan out Jack Grealish' after receiving NO offers for £100m star on £300,000 per week amid brutal summer decision
Manchester City may reportedly loan out Jack Grealish after receiving no offers for him. Pep Guardiola made the brutal decision to leave Grealish out of his 27-man squad for the Club World Cup in the United States this summer. City shelled out £100million for him in 2021 and he still has two years left on a deal which bags him around £300,000 every week before tax. And The Guardian reports that City will listen to loan offers for the 29-year-old if nobody can commit to buying him. Grealish, a likeable figure who was an important figure in City's Treble-winning 2022-23 campaign, only made seven Premier League starts last campaign. England manager Thomas Tuchel has told the winger that he must be playing more to earn a place in his plans, having left him out of his first two squads. Grealish admitted he was 'heartbroken' to be left out of Gareth Southgate's Euro 2024 squad, calling it 'the most difficult thing I have had to deal with in my career'. He had emotional moments last season, including in April when he scored against Leicester on the 25th anniversary of his baby brother's death, breaking a 16-month Premier League goal drought in the process. All four of City's summer signings so far - Rayan Cherki, Tijjani Reijnders, Rayan Ait Nouri and Marcus Bettinelli - are part of the travelling squad for the Club World Cup, but Grealish is not. He is understood to have been left out so he can find a new club to join this summer. Clubs in Europe and England, including Everton, are expected to be interested in the playmaker. However, the fact that many are grappling with profit and sustainability issues may point to the likelihood of a loan deal, rather than a permanent move for a man who cost City £100m when he signed from Aston Villa for a British record fee in 2021. The Sun also reported that Bayer Leverkusen were a contender to sign him and they will need a new attacking star given Florian Wirtz's impending move to Liverpool. After Grealish was left out of City's final Premier League fixture at Fulham, Guardiola said that officials would work with the player and his representatives to find a solution that suited both sides. Meanwhile, Kyle Walker won't play for City again after leaving the club on loan in January, joining AC Milan.

Germany sees limited financial leeway on next EU budget, policy paper shows
BERLIN, June 14 (Reuters) - Germany wants the European Union's next seven-year budget to keep a lid on spending, according to a policy paper seen by Reuters on Saturday, with Berlin arguing members do not have room to boost the scope of their contributions. The German economy, Europe's largest, has contracted for the past two years and forecasts for 2025 are modest. That has dragged on growth in much of the bloc and meant the German government is entering the budget talks cautiously. "For the foreseeable future, member states' financial leeway will remain limited. There is no basis for increasing the (EU budget's) volume relative to GNI (Gross National Income)," the policy paper from the bloc's biggest budget contributor says. A German government source confirmed the paper was sent to Brussels on Thursday. Negotiations are just starting on the next EU budget period from 2028 to 2034, which covers a sum of about 1.2 trillion euros ($1.4 trillion). EU Commission chief Ursula von der Leyen said last month the budget must be more flexible and focused. Budget talks are contentious within the 27-nation EU, pitting the biggest net budget contributors against poorer net beneficiaries and traditional sectors like agriculture against the need to develop cutting-edge new technologies. The German paper said the next budget should reinforce EU security and defence powers as well as competitiveness. "The EU and its member states must assume greater responsibility for security and defence," it said, noting that the budget must continue support for Ukraine. The document also underlined Germany's aversion to jointly issued debt, saying repayments to the so-called Next Generation EU (NGEU) programme, a pandemic recovery scheme financed by jointly backed bonds, should begin as of 2028. "The federal government rejects a perpetuation of this extraordinary and temporary instrument; an extension is legally excluded," it said. ($1 = 0.8657 euros)
