Channel 5, 3DD & Syndicado Team For World War II Doc Ahead Of MIP London
EXCLUSIVE: Ahead of the 80th anniversary World War II's end in Europe, a two-part doc with UK and U.S. partners is being readied.
WWII – The End is a co-production between Channel 5 and its digital network 5 Select, the UK's 3DD Productions and Greg Rubidge's producer-distributor Syndicado, which has North American digital distribution rights.

3DD is handling international sales ahead of MIP London later this month, and has struck deals with SBS in Australia, TF1 Group's Histoire TV in France), Hearst Networks in Germany, and Viasat World for Central & Eastern Europe and Scandinavia.
Focusing on tales of Victory in Europe (BE) Day, it's written and presented by author Giles Milton and directed and produced by Linda Saville, 3DD's Head of Production. Included in the doc are tales and first-hand accounts of VE Day and the lead up to Victory in Japan (VJ Day).
Milton and 3DD, a London-based veteran of the international TV production and distribution market, have previously worked together on another WWII anniversary doc, D-Day: A Soldier's Story, also for Channel 5, and are creating a series on ancient history together.
3DD's Head of Sales and Co-Production, Patricia Hickey, said: 'We are thrilled to be working again with Channel 5 on our second co-production together. Springsteen's Berlin concert echoes with history and a stark warning
BERLIN (AP) — Veteran rock star Bruce Springsteen, a high-profile critic of President Donald Trump, slammed the U.S. administration as 'corrupt, incompetent and treasonous' during a concert Wednesday in Berlin. He was addressing tens of thousands of fans at a stadium built for the 1936 Olympic Games that still bears the scars of World War II and contains relics from the country's dark Nazi past. 'Tonight, we ask all who believe in democracy and the best of our American experiment to rise with us, raise your voices, stand with us against authoritarianism, and let freedom reign,' he said. Springsteen, long a political opponent of the president, has made increasingly pointed and contentious public statements in recent concerts. He denounced Trump's politics during a concert last month in Manchester, calling him an 'unfit president' leading a 'rogue government' of people who have 'no concern or idea for what it means to be deeply American.' Springsteen is no stranger to Berlin. In July 1988, he became one of the first Western musicians to perform in East Germany, performing to a ravenous crowd of 160,000 East Germans yearning for American rock 'n' roll and the freedom it represented to the youth living under the crumbling communist regime. An Associated Press news story from that period says 'fireworks steaked through the sky' and hundreds of people in the audience waved handmade American flags as they sang along to 'Born in the USA.' The State Fair of West Virginia in the Roaring 20s On March 19, 1941, the fair became the State Fair of West Virginia from being previously known as the Greenbrier Valley Fair. The designation came after the fair's potential and popularity was recognized. Although 1941 was an important year for the fair due to the change, events around the world affected the State Fair of West Virginia for many years in the 1940s. World War II cancelled the fair in 1942, 1943, 1944, and 1945, according to information provided on the State Fair of West Virginia's website. The annual event did not make a return until 1946. Due to the cancellation of the fair in 1942, fairgoers had to wait to celebrate the 1941 designation of the State Fair.
