Fashion Network4 days ago

Gant has reopened its Regent Street, London, flagship store, 'marking an exciting new chapter" for the American-turned-Swedish sportswear brand.
The refurbishment of the 6,300 sq m space 'represents a key milestone in the brand's global retail investments in the UK and worldwide', the company said.
And according to its CEO Patrik Söderström, the flagship reopening 'kicks off a global initiative to elevate our retail experience.'
Set over two floors featuring both menswear and womenswear, it showcases a 'refined version of the brand's cutting-edge new retail concept' and reflects the brand's 'rich heritage and future vision'.
A 'masterpiece of design', it serves as 'both a brand statement and a commercial powerhouse' in a layout that integrates a range of elevated features, including a dedicated space for premium clientele, 'creating an exclusive environment for personalised service'.
The store also includes standalone areas for both shoes and shirts, the latter with a key presentation on the entrance floor, 'cementing Gant's legacy as a shirtmaker since 1949'.
The store's interior details reflect a sophisticated colour palette of earthy brown and matte green tones, complemented by brass accents.
The design also takes inspiration from the timeless charm of libraries, seamlessly blending rich walnut and honey-stained oak fixtures while combining elements of contemporary and classic design that evoke the spirit of American collegiate style.

Swedish couture label ArdAzAei has reached a new milestone by appointing a CEO. 'Ulrik is a highly experienced luxury industry executive. He has a thorough understanding of the industry and is capable of transforming creative excellence in market opportunities. This is a decisive step for our label. His leadership will enable us to balance our uncompromising artistic standards with the operational strength we need to grow,' said Johannes Falk, who co-founded ArdAzAei with Swedish-Iranian designer Bahareh Ardakani, the label's creative director. ArdAzAei premièred on the official Paris haute couture calendar in June 2024. The label has also developed a ready-to-wear line, which it intends to strengthen by creating a more extensive collection which will be presented at the next Paris Fashion Week Women, in October. Garde Due, who has worked in Asia, Europe and America, is a highly experienced luxury industry executive, having held senior positions at several fashion and jewellery brands. After studying business and marketing in Copenhagen, Paris and London, he worked for Celine, Cerruti and Burberry. In 2007, he took charge of Danish jewellery brand Georg Jensen. Six years later, he was named CEO of British fashion label Temperley London, and in 2016 he took charge of a division of Finnish kitchenware producer Fiskars Group. At the end of 2018, he was named CEO of long-established US luxury leather goods brand Mark Cross. In parallel, Garde Due became chairman of the board of consulting firm Positive Luxury, a sustainability specialist, and operational chairman of the board at Danish label Cecilie Bahnsen, which shows in Paris. 'With this appointment, ArdAzAei is affirming its vision: to gear up for sustainable growth, transforming the brand with rigour and preparing the label for a new stage in its international expansion,' said the label in a press release. ArdAzAei was founded in Stockholm in 2018 and established a presence in Paris in 2022, opening a store and an atelier near place de la Concorde, at 11 rue Saint-Florentin. ArdAzAei's sophisticated minimalist style 'is a blend of French expertise, Persian heritage, and Scandinavian design principles,' and takes great care to respect the environment. Most of the items in its next ready-to-wear collection will be 'GOTS-certified and crafted from organic, custom-developed textiles. The garments will be produced in EPV-certified ateliers in France (entreprise du patrimoine vivant, or living heritage company), ensuring full traceability,' said ArdAzAei.

Ikea plans to scale up India sourcing

Swedish home décor and furniture brand Ikea is set to increase its local sourcing in India from 30% to 50% for its domestic retail operations, a move that positions the country as a critical hub in the company's global supply chain and retail expansion plans. 'India is a focus market for us,' said Ikea's head of sustainability for supply at Inter Ikea Group Christina Niemel Ström, Indian Retailer Bureau reported. Ström added that the scale-up would support both local retail growth and employment generation across the value chain. India currently ranks among Ikea's top ten sourcing markets, contributing around € 400 million annually in exports. The current sourcing portfolio includes textiles, plastics, and metals, with upcoming expansion into sofas, mattresses, and storage furniture. 'We aim to increase local sourcing, create products in India for both domestic and global customers, and drive job creation across the supply chain,' said Ström. Ikea, which has sourced from India for over 50 years, entered the Indian retail market in 2018 and now operates stores in Hyderabad, Navi Mumbai, and Bengaluru, with new locations planned for Delhi NCR, ET Retail previously reported. Ikea's supply operations in India currently involve nearly 3.7 lakh workers, including those at Tier 2 supplier levels. The company also promotes sustainable cotton farming through partnerships with over 1.1 lakh farmers.

Iran says no nuclear deal if deprived of 'peaceful activities'

Uranium enrichment has remained a key point of contention between the foes in talks to seal a nuclear deal, ongoing since April, with Iran defending what it says is its pursuit of a civil nuclear programme but with the US side calling it a "red line". Speaking in Cairo, where he met the UN nuclear watchdog's chief Rafael Grossi, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said: "If the goal is to deprive Iran of its peaceful activities, then certainly no agreement will be reached." Araghchi insisted that Iran has "nothing to hide" on its nuclear programme. "Iran has a peaceful nuclear programme... we are prepared to provide this assurance to any party or entity," he said. The remarks came after Grossi of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) on Monday called for more transparency from Iran following a leaked report that showed Tehran had stepped up uranium enrichment. 'Full explanation of activities' The IAEA report showed that Iran has ramped up production of uranium enriched up to 60 percent -- close to the roughly 90 percent level needed for atomic weapons. "There is a need for more transparency -- this is very, very clear -- in Iran, and nothing will bring us to this confidence (besides) full explanations of a number of activities," Grossi said ahead of meeting Araghchi. Grossi added that some of the report's findings "may be uncomfortable for some, and we are... used to being criticised". Iran has rejected the report, warning it would retaliate if European powers that have threatened to reimpose nuclear sanctions "exploit" it. "Some countries are trying to abuse this agency to pave the way for escalation with Iran. I hope that this agency does not fall into this trap," Araghchi said of the IAEA. Iran meanwhile pushed for the United States to drop sanctions that have crippled its economy as a condition for a nuclear agreement with President Donald Trump's administration. Araghchi said on Saturday that he had received "elements" of a US proposal for a nuclear deal following five rounds of talks mediated by Oman. 'With or without a deal' Both Araghchi and Grossi met Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, who praised the US-Iran talks and called for "de-escalation in order to prevent a slide into a full-fledged regional war". On Monday, Iranian foreign ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei told a news conference: "We want to guarantee that the sanctions are effectively lifted." "So far, the American side has not wanted to clarify this issue," he said. The US envoy in the nuclear talks said last month that Trump's administration would oppose any Iranian enrichment. "An enrichment programme can never exist in the state of Iran ever again. That's our red line. No enrichment," Steve Witkoff told Breitbart News. Following a phone call with Witkoff the day before about the ongoing nuclear talks, Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty urged a peaceful solution and a nuclear-weapon-free Middle East, saying in Monday's press conference that "the region is already experiencing enough problems and crises". He warned that military confrontation would create "a state of chaos from which no one will be spared". Iran has vowed to keep enriching uranium "with or without a deal" on its nuclear programme. The United States has sent Iran a proposal for a nuclear deal that the White House called "acceptable" and in Tehran's "best interest" to accept, US media reported on Saturday. The New York Times, citing officials familiar with the diplomatic exchanges, said the proposal calls on Iran to stop all enrichment and suggests creating a regional grouping to produce nuclear power. Iran has held five rounds of talks with the United States in search of a new agreement to replace the deal with major powers that Trump abandoned during his first term in 2018.
