Person found dead on Tri-Rail tracks in Hollywood; service suspended both ways
A person was found dead Tuesday morning on the Tri-Rail tracks in Hollywood, prompting a police investigation and temporary suspension of train service in both directions.
Hollywood Police said officers were called to the area of 3001 Hollywood Boulevard just before 9:30 a.m. after receiving reports of a deceased person on the tracks. According to a department spokesperson, the preliminary investigation suggests the person may have died by suicide.
First responders from Station 31 initially issued a trauma alert, but the individual was pronounced dead at the scene. The person's identity has not yet been released.
Train service was halted while authorities responded to the scene and began their investigation. Hollywood Police say the case remains open.

A Florida middle school teacher allegedly sent a nude image of herself to a 14-year-old student, authorities said. Oliver Fell, 28, who taught at Carlos E. Haile Middle School in Brandenton, is charged with lewd conduct with a student by an authority figure and transmission of harmful material to a minor, the Manatee County Sheriff's Office said. Fell turned herself in to authorities on Monday after a warrant was issued for her arrest. She remains in custody on a $2,500 bond. Irene Nikitopoulos, the principal at Carlos E. Haile Middle School, acknowledged the matter in a letter to parents. She said it "took several weeks of investigation to confirm the allegations of the illegal communications" and that Fell was reassigned. SWAT executes search warrant in Coral Springs home, police say
The Coral Springs Police Department's SWAT team executed a residential search warrant on Thursday in connection with property crimes, the agency said.
