What happened to Alex From Target?Shocking whereabouts of reclusive social media sensation revealed
Alex From Target was one of the first major social media stars.
Alex Lee was just 16-years-old when he shot to viral superstardom after somebody snapped a photo of him working the checkout during a shift at Target.
Seemingly overnight, the cashier ended up with millions of followers on social media and made appearances on The Ellen Show and Inside Edition.
He was also compared to Justin Bieber, and at one point even surpassed the Baby hitmaker in internet searches.
After turning 18, the teenager moved from Texas to Los Angeles to pursue a career in Hollywood.
However, he soon vanished from the spotlight completely, deleting all of his social media accounts in the process.
Now fans are wondering what exactly happened to the reclusive influencer more than a decade after he became a global meme.
In interview with People magazine, Alex, now 27, confirmed that he's left the limelight behind for good to focus on living a normal life in private.
As of last year, he was living back in Sherman, Texas, and working for UPS.
'Right now I have a job at UPS, I load the trucks in the morning, and I have to say it's so much better than doing social media,' he said.
'The stress is so much lower. It pays a lot less, but I'm a lot happier doing it.'
Alex also admits that he hated being famous and had never been popular in high school or active on social media before going viral.
'After the Ellen show, people started treating me differently, bothering me all day, and the news companies would wait outside my high school. The exposure was intense and I ended up having to leave my school and start homeschooling,' he said.
The Texas teen and his family were also inundated with death threats from trolls.
At one point, his parents had to contact the police after trolls started leaking their private information, including their bank details and social security numbers, online.
Alex got a management team who steered him into acting classes, and for a while he started auditioning for TV and film roles.
However, the small town social media star soon realized that Hollywood wasn't for him.
He was also pushed into starting a YouTube channel, which he now admits he 'hated' doing.
'I hated it so much. So I ended up abandoning that project as well,' he said.
He eventually moved back to Texas and deleted all of his social media channels.
Alex now has a much different look compared to his days as a clean-cut boy next door.
The UPS worked has shoulder-length hair and has taken up powerlifting to increase his size.
He also started building a house with his girlfriend, who was a longtime friend before they started dating.
'I never wanted to be "Alex from Target," absolutely not,' he said.
After a video about Alex's current whereabouts went viral on Instagram last week, many social media users have shared their thoughts on the former cashier's fifteen minutes of fame.
'It doesn't sit well with me that an underage teenage boy went viral because people took unsuspecting photos of him at his place of work and uploaded them so he can be sexualised,' commented one user.
'It was weird that grown women thirsted after a teenager,' wrote a second.
'Good for Alex. Not everyone wants fame based on what they can't control like looks. He didn't ask for any of this and people who can think they can exploit random people cause they look good or look odd are sick,' a third commented.

1000lb Sisters star Tammy Slaton reveals she's ENGAGED just two months after going public with girlfriend Andrea Dalton
1000lb Sisters star Tammy Slaton has revealed she's engaged to Andrea Dalton just two months after the couple went public. Tammy, 38 - whose sister Amy, 37, announced she was engaged only last month - let the news slip during an appearance the Creative Chaos podcast on Tuesday. Speaking about how her and Andrea like to spend time together, Tammy explained: 'Me and my fiancée, we just kind of chill at home.' The revelation prompted a shocked response from host Hunter Ezell: 'Hold on, you said fiancée?', before the television star showed off her shiny new engagement ring. Tammy was also proudly sporting an 'Andrea' necklace, later revealing that her and her love interest have been together for 'around three years'. It comes just a couple of months after Tammy - who has lost a staggering 500 pounds - made public her relationship with a woman. Admitting that she hadn't broken the news to her family because 'they'd have something to say about it', the 38-year-old revealed: 'Amy's not the only one that's seeing somebody new. So have I.... 'I have been seeing someone for the past couple months and it's going pretty well.' She added: 'The person I'm dating is a woman. So I haven't told my family because my family's gonna have something to say about it.' 'I think my family probably has more opinions than the world has a**holes because they be farting so much.' After hearing the news during an episode of 1000-Lb Sisters however, Tammy's mother voiced her support for her daughter, saying: 'If Andrea genuinely cares for Tammy and makes her happy, then I'll be happy with her.' Tammy and Andrea, who both live in Kentucky, met on a dating app and have 'talked every day since'. 2025 has indeed proved to have been a happy year for the Slaton family thus far, after Tammy's sister Amy announced her engagement to Brian Lovvorn just a couple of months ago. Amy spoke about her fiancée's proposal during a recent episode of their show, saying: 'Originally, he slipped a green apple Ring Pop on my finger while I was asleep, about two weeks into our relationship. 'I was shocked at first, and I said yes but only if the real proposal was in a haunted house on Halloween.' Just five months after they began dating, Brian made that proposal a reality as he got down on one knee with a gothic ring. Amy recalled the proposal: 'He said something about, "my love for you is crazy, it's scary how compatible we are". 'Just like our matching tattoos say, "scary love".' News of her sister Tammy's engagement comes two years after her husband Caleb Willingham died of an unknown cause at the age of 40. Tammy revealed in an interview following his passing that she no longer had an interest in dating men. 'A few years ago I came out as pansexual but after Caleb passing,' she explained,' I just don't want to be with men anymore. 'I don't know how my family's going to react when I tell them I'm seeing a woman.' Last year Tammy opened up about the moment she found out that Caleb had passed away. During an interview with People, Tammy revealed a friend of Caleb's told her over text message that her husband wasn't doing well - before he informed her just 20 minutes later that he had died. At the time, Tammy was at her home in Kentucky and Caleb was at the Ohio rehab facility she had previously been at with him. 'I was sitting in the fetal position,' she told the publication. 'I got a text message from his friend up there and the text said, 'Caleb's not doing good. They're in there working on him.' 20 minutes later he texted me back and said he was gone. The TLC star also said she had been 'doing fairly well' getting through the tragedy, and had even made a ring and musical note-shaped necklace with the ashes of her late husband. She had grown attached to the jewelry and finds comfort knowing a piece of him remains with her. 'He's going to live on now forever because his memory is encapsulated,' Tammy said. 'Knowing that he's with me, it's helping me pass the day. I find myself grabbing my necklace and holding it a lot. When I take off my jewelry, I feel like it's weird, separation anxiety. I start panicking.' Watching Caleb on their show has also provided her with some joy: 'Every time I miss him, I can always look back at the show and watch it and see what made me happy again.'

Jake Paul angrily stormed off an interview with Piers Morgan following a heated exchange. The YouTube star, who is due to fight Julio Cesar Chavez Jr in Anaheim on Saturday (28 June), was confronted by Morgan over his boxing credentials. Paul said: 'I think the problem here Piers is that you think your opinion matters.' Morgan continued: 'The only proper boxer you fought was Tommy Fury and he beat you. Pete Tyson you wouldn't have lasted 10 seconds.' Brad Pitt's $5.5m Hollywood house ransacked by burglars
The Los Angeles home of Brad Pitt has been 'ransacked' by thieves who scaled his fence and broke in through the front window. Pitt, who was in London earlier this week to promote his new F1 film, was not at the three-bedroom house at the time of the burglary late on Wednesday night, according to US media reports. Police are searching for three suspects who fled the scene with 'miscellaneous property', the Los Angeles police department said. The force confirmed they responded to a break-in at about 10.30pm but did not provide any information about the nature or value of the items taken. Pitt bought the property on North Edgemont Street in LA's Los Feliz neighbourhood for $5.5 million in April 2023, according to Traded, a commercial real estate website. It is close to Griffith Park, home of the Hollywood Sign and the Griffith Observatory. The actor has become the latest Hollywood star to be targeted by thieves in LA. On Valentine's Day a burglar broke into the home that Nicole Kidman shares with Keith Urban, the country music singer, in the Hidden Valley gated community of Beverly Hills. The couple were not at home at the time. Thieves also stole about $500,000 worth of expensive watches and other luxury items from the home of Olivier Giroud, the World Cup-winning French footballer who plays for Los Angeles FC. Several US sports stars, including Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs, have also been the victims of break-ins in recent years. Some of the thefts are believed to be linked to organised gangs from South America. The FBI issued a warning to US sports leagues in December that crime groups were targeting homes looking for valuables such as designer handbags, jewellery and watches. The homes of at least nine professional athletes were targeted between September and November 2024. The home of Pitt's ex-wife Jennifer Aniston, the Friends actress, was also damaged last month when an alleged stalker rammed through the gate of her Bel Air mansion. Pitt attended the London premiere of F1: The Movie on Monday night with his girlfriend Ines de Ramon and was pictured embracing his fellow A-lister Tom Cruise, as well as posing with the cast next to Sir Lewis Hamilton. In the film he plays a veteran driver, Sonny Hayes, who competes against younger rivals in Grand Prix races around the world. A representative for Pitt declined to comment about the burglary.
