Wallows Recall Morrissey Walking Out of Their Show: ‘That's the Perfect Morrissey Story'

'That's why one of the first songs we ever learned, ever covered was a Kings of Leon song called 'Molly's Chambers,'' Minnette shared. 'I wanted to be like them. I don't think I ever got as rock and roll as they were—we're more Catan, cold brew, and cold plunge now.'
Minnette also addressed persistent rumors about his acting career, clarifying he never officially stepped away from Hollywood.
'There was this weird narrative that I quit acting, but I never felt that or said that,' he said. 'I've had a desire to do it again in some regard, and if the right thing comes along, then the right thing comes along.' His last acting credit was Hulu's The Dropout in 2021, but he still describes 13 Reasons Why as 'the most fulfilling experience I ever had shooting anything.'
The band reminisced about early chaos on tour—including an Ohio incident where 'someone got their head kicked into our van'—and their first Coachella set in 2019. 'It was nerve-racking,' Minnette recalled. 'We had never played the new songs live, never used in-ear monitors. It was a lot, and after that I was like, we're never doing Coachella as the first stop of the tour again.'
Perhaps the wildest anecdote came when the band revealed Morrissey once attended a Wallows show. 'Morrissey came to a show we played,' Minnette recalled of the night at Los Angeles' Roxy Theatre. 'A couple of years ago, we did this 50th anniversary special show at the Roxy, and they asked us to play. We said, 'Yeah, we have a lot of history there.' And someone told us, 'Morrissey from The Smiths, he's apparently a big Wallows fan, he's asking to come to the show.' We were like, 'What are you talking about? Morrissey's not… yeah right.''
But as the night approached, their skepticism turned into disbelief. 'Then the day of the show, they're like, 'He's coming,' and we're like, 'Okay, right.' And then before the set, they were like, 'He's in the building, he's ready to watch.' And we were like, 'Morrissey's here?'' Minnette continued.
The surreal encounter didn't last long. 'There's a really funny video of him sitting there — he looks so upset and he looks so mad. Apparently our fans are really loud, screaming girl voices, and it was way too loud for him. He left three songs in,' Minnette said with a laugh. 'That's the perfect Morrissey story. Didn't even need to meet him. It's the fact that he was there and left.'
Wallows are currently gearing up for their summer festival run, which includes their third appearance at Lollapalooza.

Sonic the Hedgehog Movie Rumor Is Good News for Keanu Reeves Fans
A new rumor surrounding Shadow from the Sonic the Hedgehog film series will have fans of the character very happy. According to a new report from noted insider MyTimeToShine suggests that a Shadow spin-off is currently in development at Paramount. No official word on whether or not the project would be a television show (like the Knuckles series that aired on Paramount+), or a full-fledged movie was mentioned at this time. Shadow was first introduced in 2024's Sonic the Hedgehog 3. He was played by Keanu Reeves, and toward the end of the film, he attempted to sacrifice himself alongside Dr. Ivo Robotnik in an attempt to save Earth from a cannon. However, the final scene of the film shows Shadow survived. 'Sonic, Knuckles, and Tails reunite against a powerful new adversary, Shadow, a mysterious villain with powers unlike anything they have faced before,' the synopsis for Sonic the Hedgehog 3 reads. 'With their abilities outmatched in every way, Team Sonic must seek out an unlikely alliance in hopes of stopping Shadow and protecting the planet.' Ben Schwartz returns to play Sonic the Hedgehog in the new movie, while the voice cast also includes Colleen O'Shaughnessey as Miles 'Tails' Prower, Idris Elba as Knuckles the Echidna, and Keanu Reeves as Shadow the Hedgehog. James Marsden will reprise his role as Tom Wachowski. The live-action cast also features Tika Sumpter, Krysten Ritter, Natasha Rothwell, Cristo Fernández, Alyla Browne, and more.

Michael Madsen 'struggled to maintain his sobriety' before death
Michael Madsen was reportedly struggling with alcohol addiction before his death. The 67-year-old actor was pronounced dead on Thursday (03.07.25) after being found unresponsive at his Malibu home, with his manager Ron Smith telling that 'cardiac arrest' appeared to be the cause of death. And, Michael's lawyer Perry Wander, who represented him for 20 years, said the Kill Bill actor had 'struggled to maintain his sobriety'. He told 'I just spoke to Michael two days ago. I knew he was not well.' 'Michael was suffering from the effects of alcoholism. He had multiple stints in and out of rehab. He struggled to maintain his sobriety. He was not happy about his life.' The lawyer also claimed that Michael was locked in a legal battle with his estranged wife over child support and other finances. He said: 'I blame her for putting in the screws over his last years of life. Michael lived a life of regrets - those regrets being his two marriages.' He added that the legal battle caused his passport to be 'maliciously revoked', which impacted his ability to travel and work abroad. Michael suffered a devastating loss in 2022 when his son Hudson took his own life at the age of 26. The star is survived by his five other children, Jessica who he shared with Dana Mechling, Christian and Max, whose mother is Jeannine Bisignano and Luke and Kalvin, whose mom is Madsen's wife DeAnna Morgan. Madsen was married to Georganne LaPiere, half-sister of Cher from 1984 to 1988. He went on to marry Bisignano from 1991 to 1995 before tying the knot with DeAnna in 1996 and welcoming Luke, Kalvin and Hudson together. The relationship had its ups and downs, and his death comes just 11 months after his domestic violence case - where he was accused of shoving DeAnna - was dismissed due to 'insufficient evidence'. Madsen was best known for his work with director Quentin Tarantino, including classics such as 1992's in Reservoir Dogs, 2004's Kill Bill: Volume 2, 2015's The Hateful Eight, and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, which was released in 2019.
