Beyoncé fans brave scorching heat for Houston hometown kickoff of 'Cowboy Carter' tour
The Grammy-winning singer will launch her first concert in her hometown of Houston at NRG Stadium June 28. The show will mark her first Southern stop on her Cowboy Carter and the Rodeo Chitlin' Circuit Tour. She is poised to perform two nights only on June 28 and June 29.
From the United States to Europe, Beyoncé and her fans have powered through severe weather conditions, including an evacuation, cold temperatures and pouring rain to experience her concerts. In Houston, it was the heat they had to beat with the first show landing on a scorching 91-degree day. Despite this, fans swarmed the stadium grounds ahead of the show--some lining up early to secure spots in the VIP pits and others enduring the sun for a chance at merchandise.
Bridget and Meghan Ryan traveled to Houston from Wisconsin to see Beyoncé in concert for the first time. After several flight delays and scheduling hiccups, the sisters were determined to snag official merchandise ahead of Saturday's show. Like many other fans, they ended up standing in a long line in the heat.
"We're both from the Midwest, so the humidity is a little extra than what we're used to. I figured staying hydrated would be a good plan,' said Bridget Ryan. "I think it was a come hell or high water kind of situation. Whatever the weather was going to do we were going to show."
Their determination didn't stop there.
"We even talked about if we don't get any today after sitting outside maybe we'll come back tomorrow and try the truck again,' Meghan Ryan said.
The H-Town stop comes after Beyoncé wrapped the international leg of her tour – first with a six-night stint in London, followed by three dazzling nights in Paris.
Of course, Beyoncé first debuted her "Cowboy Carter" tour at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles on April 28 with a 39-song set list. Her shows have been filled with family, fashion, different music genres, and most notably country music and cultural commentary.

Runway Launches New Aleph Model That Promises Next-Level AI Video Editing
Runway, a pioneer in generative video, just unveiled its latest AI model called Runway Aleph that aims to redefine how people create and edit video content. Aleph builds on Runway's research into General World Models and Simulation Models, giving users a conversational AI tool that can instantly make complex edits to video footage, whether generated or existing. For instance, want to remove a car from a shot? Swap out a background? Restyle an entire scene? According to Runway, Aleph lets you do all that with a simple prompt. Read also: What Are AI Video Generators? What to Know About Google's Veo 3, Sora and More Unlike previous models that focused mostly on video generation from text, Aleph emphasizes "fluid editing." It can add or erase objects, tweak actions, change lighting and maintain continuity across frames, which are challenges that have historically tripped up AI video tools. The company says Aleph's local and global editing capabilities keep scenes, characters and environments consistent, so creators don't have to fix frame-by-frame glitches. "Runway Aleph is more than a new model -- it's a new way of thinking about video altogether," Runway wrote in its announcement. The launch comes as AI video creation heats up. Big players like OpenAI, Google, Microsoft and Meta have all showcased AI video models this year. But Runway, which helped popularize AI video with its earlier Gen-1 and Gen-2 models, says Aleph pushes things further by combining high-fidelity generation with real-time, conversational editing -- which could be significant for filmmakers, studios and advertisers who want faster workflows. Runway says Aleph is already being used by major studios, ad agencies, architecture firms, gaming companies and eCommerce teams. The company is giving early access to enterprise customers and creative partners starting now, with broader availability rolling out in the coming days. Former NFL Quarterback Matt Ryan Wants to Host Your Fantasy Football Draft in Las Vegas—How to Win
One fantasy football league is about to get a dose of star power when former All-Pro quarterback Matt Ryan hosts their draft party in Las Vegas this Labor Day weekend. 'There's just so much energy in Las Vegas that time of year, with football season just getting ready to kick off,' the former NFL MVP and current CBS Sports analyst told Travel + Leisure on Friday afternoon. So he's teamed up with Marriott Bonvoy and BetMGM to throw the ultimate draft event for one winner plus 11 of their friends at the BetMGM Sportsbook at ARIA Resort & Casino, Autograph Collection. He said he's excited to see 'the passion of the group,' as well as 'put on my analyst hat and talk about the picks and help lay down the strategy.' Former NFL quarterback Matt Ryan. That said, when we asked the four-time Pro Bowl quarterback to rate his own fantasy football skills, he admitted: 'They're very, very poor compared to what I could do as a football player.' After all, he's spent more than two decades on the gridiron, playing for Boston College, and then the Atlanta Falcons and Indianapolis Colts. 'Fantasy football really exploded into this cultural phenomenon while I was in the NFL,' Ryan said. 'I got left in the dust by people who've been doing it for the last 15 to 20 years—I have no idea what I'm doing, but I'll have a ton of fun!' While football is at the core, fun is indeed the name of the game. The winner of the contest will receive up to 12 round-trip domestic economy flight vouchers to Vegas and three-night hotel stays at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas for the 12 guests in six king rooms. They'll also be spoiled with a happy hour at the hotel's The Barbershop Cuts and Cocktails, a four-course dinner at The Mayfair Supper Club at Bellagio Resort & Casino, $6,000 in MGM Resort credit, and, of course, the two-hour fantasy football draft party with Ryan, known to fans as 'Matty Ice.' BetMGM Sportsbook at ARIA. MGM Resorts International The NFL alum is thrilled to be bringing the winning league to Las Vegas, a city he loves since it's 'self-contained, and there's just so much to do.' On recent trips, he's played golf at one of his favorite courses, Shadow Creek, indulged in the city's restaurants, bars, and pools, and even saw U2 play at the Sphere when he was in town for the 2024 Super Bowl. His 15-season pro career took him around the country, where he especially loved away games at Lambeau Field in Green Bay. 'It's like going back in time,' he said of the Wisconsin stadium, which opened in 1957. 'You can really feel the history when you play there.' While he was always laser-focused on the game during those trips, he had more time to enjoy Seattle, where they'd stay a few days, calling it an 'amazing town,' especially "when you catch it in early-to-mid fall when the weather is gorgeous.' Ryan continues to call Atlanta home, enjoying taking his seven-year-old twin boys and two-year-old son to the Georgia Aquarium and College Football Hall of Fame, which he said is a "phenomenal experience' for kids. Other favorites in his adopted hometown are the Atlanta Beltline and its restaurants, as well as the up-and-coming Old Fourth Ward neighborhood. Despite hanging up his cleats in the spring of 2024, Ryan is still always on the go, flying up to New York City every week for CBS Sports. On those solo business trips, he's got his routine down, settling into a hotel room by putting his bags on the bed and unpacking them. 'I like to get organized first,' he said. 'It just makes me feel a little bit more comfortable.' When it comes to room service, he goes for the classic. 'A good cheeseburger is hard to beat,' he admits. 'I don't drink soda very often, but a Diet Coke every once in a while from room service is about as good as it gets.' However, when he travels with his wife Sarah and their three kids, it's a whole different ball game. Usually, he'll take the boys down to the lobby for about half an hour while Sarah gets the room settled. 'You throw your habits out and figure out what works for the collective,' he admits, adding that the twins are in a 'pretty good stage' now, but the toddler is more of a 'wild card,' as the family of five piles into one room. 'It's a little more chaotic.' Still, they've had memorable getaways the last two years, going to Jackson Hole, Wyoming, last summer and Big Sky, Montana, earlier this month. Despite all his travels, there's nowhere he'd rather be than Vegas for the final long weekend of the summer to host the fantasy draft party. 'It's the start of college football in earnest, and we'll be a week away from the NFL rolling into full gear,' he says. 'There's no place better to be than in Las Vegas!' To enter the Marriott Bonvoy Vegas Fantasy Draft with Matt Ryan, simply log into your BetMGM account and opt in to the promotion. Then link your BetMGM and Marriott Bonvoy accounts. The final entry period ends at 11:59 p.m. on July 30, 2025. Full details and rules can be accessed here.

James Gunn Reveals New PEACEMAKER Season 2 Opening Song From "Objectively the Greatest Rock 'n' Roll Band in the World" — GeekTyrant
Peacemaker is back and ready to dance his way into the new DCU, and this time he's bringing the fire with a brand-new opening song. During a private event at San Diego Comic-Con, James Gunn revealed that the new opening title sequence features the entire cast grooving to Foxy Shazam's song 'Oh Lord.' Fans of the first season will remember the now-iconic dance intro set to 'Do Ya Wanna Taste It' by Wig Wam. Season 2 keeps the quirky spirit alive with a fresh beat and fresh choreography, and it's just as hilarious and over-the-top as you'd hope. Gunn himself hyped up the reveal at Comic-Con, saying: "I am here to reveal right now – it is a song from my favorite band in the world that is objectively the greatest rock 'n' roll band in the world, Foxy Shazam, here they are. They're gonna perform it for you guys – 'Oh Lord' – come on guys!" We got a live performance and a sneak peek at the new sequence, which features returning cast members like John Cena, Jennifer Holland, and Freddie Stroma, as well as newcomers including Frank Grillo and Tim Meadows. You can listen to the son below. During an interview at Entertainment Weekly's Comic-Con suite, the cast had some fun teasing each other about their dance skills. Grillo, who plays Rick Flag Sr., joked: "I was really against it because I'm a serious actor. I thought so! But I had such a great time watching Tim Meadows suffer." Meadows shot back with a laugh: "I was horrible. Everybody expected me to be good, and I don't want to say why they expected me to be good, but I was horrible." Gunn chimed in to name Holland and Stroma as standout dancers, but as always, fans will be the final judges once the new season drops. Aside from the funky new intro, Gunn spoke about where Peacemaker is heading in Season 2. He emphasized how the show explores character growth and change, saying: "I really like TV shows where the characters don't just return every season and they're the same exact characters. I want to see growth. I want to see change and sometimes regression. And Peacemaker is a different guy this year. 'He's dealing with the demons he uncovered from the first season and trying to deal with them, and the world is not accepting him the way he is. They aren't accepting him as a hero." This season continues the story from The Suicide Squad , with Grillo's Rick Flag Sr. on a mission for revenge after Peacemaker killed his son. Expect multiverse madness, alternate versions of familiar faces, and some heavy-hitting DC cameos that may ripple into the larger DC Universe. Peacemaker Season 2 premieres August 21. Get ready for more mayhem, more heart, and yes, more awkwardly fun dancing.
