SEMMES, Ala. (WKRG) — The Semmes Chamber of Commerce has made the decision to cancel the city's Mardi Gras parade and ball, has learned.

The parade and ball would have been the first for Semmes. Officials announced the parade and ball at the beginning of January.
'We regret to announce that our city's Mardi Gras Parade and Ball have been canceled due to low participation,' read a COC Facebook post.
'We truly appreciate everyone who showed interest and supported our efforts to bring this celebration to life.'

City officials said anyone who purchased tickets to the ball will be refunded through Eventbrite.

5 displaced after tree falls onto building in Lincoln
LINCOLN, R.I. (WPRI) — Five people were forced from their home Sunday after a large tree fell onto a multi-family building in Lincoln. Police said the incident happened on Reservoir Avenue.
