'Project Runway' shockingly eliminates returning contestant on premiere for second time: 'A moment of PTSD'
Caycee Black became Project Runway's first-eliminated designer on two separate seasons.
The contestant first appeared on season 19.
Black initially called the Disney princess-inspired group challenge "a moment of PTSD."Caycee Black has stitched herself into Project Runway history, as the returning Brooklyn designer became the first-eliminated contestant of the season for the second time in her reality career.
After once again entering the work room following her episode 1 departure on season 19 in 2021, Black expressed that she was having "a moment of PTSD" upon learning that season 21's first challenge would be a group effort — the same style of challenge that sent her packing in last place four years ago.
"I'm getting hives. I'm sweating. I'm having a panic attack. I cannot be eliminated first. Not again," Black said at the top of the premiere episode. But, in trying to do the opposite, she actually spoke her fate into existence.
Overseen by judges Heidi Klum, Christian Siriano, Nina Garcia, and Law Roach, the episode 1 challenge split the designers into two teams, with one creating a collection of looks inspired by Disney princesses, and the other modeling their designs after Disney villains. The latter team was declared the top group, with the winning designer named as Ethan Mundt — a.k.a. Utica Queen from RuPaul's Drag Race.
'In season 19, I had a lot of ideas. It was really hard for me to edit down, and I lost track of time. I don't want that to happen again," Black said in the work room as she modeled her tulle ball gown after the classic animated film Sleeping Beauty.
But, the judges weren't impressed with the final product, as her team landed in the bottom — and Black received harsh critiques.
Klum even said that Black's design 'looks like a nightgown' and labeled it 'lackluster' on the runway, while Roach even went as far as to say he "hated" the ribbon that Black included in the piece.
'I think it was a mess, because you had everything to make something so beautiful and fairytale-like, and you kind of missed it,' Roach observed.
Backstage, Black became visibly emotional, telling her fellow contestants that she was "in shock" over how her garment was perceived.
Back on stage, Black landed in the bottom two alongside Antonio Estrada, who'd earlier clashed with the judges in a back-and-forth exchange.
Moments later, Black was the first contestant of season 21 to hear Klum's famous parting words: "Caycee, I'm so sorry, but that means you're out. Auf Wiedersehen," Klum said, after declaring Estrada to be "in."
'I'm beyond shocked to be eliminated for this look,' Black said after her elimination. 'It feels harsh to leave at this stage of the competition again. I wish I could've shown more, but I'm still really proud of it. Project Runway is an experience I will never forget, and I'm probably finished with as of now."
Project Runway continues Thursdays on Freeform, followed by weekly streaming debuts on Hulu and Disney+.

Philadelphia Eagles legend Jason Kelce didn't hide his delight after hearing Taylor Swift's major announcement directly from the pop star herself. Taylor Swift's New Album, Release Date and How to Order "The Life of a Showgirl" is Swift's 12th studio album, which follows her "The Tortured Poets Department" album that was released in April 2024. Star Trek is one of the best free movies to stream this weekend (August 15-17)
Last weekend, two new releases dominated the box office. Zach Cregger's Weapons dazzled audiences on its way to a $42 million domestic opening weekend. Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis participated in another body-swap comedy in Freakier Friday, which opened to just under $30 million. While those films are in theaters, the movies below can be watched inside your home for no cost. These free movies range from a coming-of-age comedy to a sci-fi reboot. Recommended Videos We also have guides to the best new movies to stream, the best movies on Netflix, the best movies on Hulu, and the best movies on Amazon Prime Video. Can't Hardly Wait (1998) The coming-of-age movies that take place within 24 hours are my personal favorite. At the top sit Dazed and Confused, The Breakfast Club, and American Graffiti. Somewhere below that tier sits Can't Hardly Wait, the teen comedy that predominantly takes place at a high school party. The senior class at Huntington Hillside High convenes for a graduation party. Shy kids, like Preston Meyers (Ethan Embry), want to tell their crush (Jennifer Love Hewitt) how they feel. The nerds, like William Lichter (Charlie Korsmo), hope to exact revenge on their bully (Peter Facinelli). If you're Kenny (Seth Green) and Denise (Lauren Ambrose), all that matters is escaping a locked bathroom. Can't Hardly Wait does not reinvent the wheel, but its charming cast and hilarious gags are a welcome addition to the high school genre. Stream Can't Hardly Wait on Tubi. Basic Instinct (1992) Sharon Stone is a member of the 'Femme Fatale Hall of Fame' with her performance in Basic Instinct. After the murder of a rock star, homicide detective Nick Curran (Michael Douglas) is tasked with finding the killer. The suspect is the girlfriend, Catherine Tramell (Stone), a crime novelist whose recent book mirrors her boyfriend's murder. Instead of investigating Catherine, Nick engages with her in a sexually driven affair. The affair with Catherine negatively affects his relationship with Dr. Elisabeth Garner (Jeanne Tripplehorn), who also becomes a suspect in the murder case. While I wouldn't recommend watching this movie with your family, Basic Instinct is the addictive erotic thriller that today's audiences have been begging for more of. Stream Basic Instinct on Pluto TV. Star Trek (2009) After the failures of 2002's Star Trek: Nemesis, the Star Trek franchise needed a fresh start. Enter J.J. Abrams, the architect who rebooted the sci-fi property through an alternate timeline, the Kelvin universe. The result became 2009's Star Trek. After a chance meeting with a captain, James T. Kirk (Chris Pine), the son of a fallen officer, joins Starfleet Academy. While responding to a distress signal, Kirk boards the USS Enterprise, the famous ship from the original Star Trek. After the capture of Commander Pike (Bruce Greenwood), Kirk takes it upon himself to save the galaxy from the villainous Nero (Eric Bana). But first, Kirk must patch things up with his rival, Spock (Zachary Quinto), setting the stage for their future partnership. Stream Star Trek on Pluto TV.

The TV host questioned the push by Johnson to award the 19-year-old the Medal of Freedom.
MAGA YouTuber Benny Johnson dedicated a segment of his show on Thursday to rage against Jen Psaki after the MSNBC host called him out on her program. Johnson claimed Psaki had a 'hysterical meltdown' live on air while discussing the topic of Edward 'Big Balls' Coristine. He also claimed his comments 'broke' her. At one point, the YouTuber played memes of Psaki, including dancing to one with her head on Gwen Stefani's body parodying the 'Hollaback Girl' video. The outburst came after Psaki on Wednesday criticized Johnson's appearance at a White House press briefing to criticize crime in D.C.
