FRISCO - Dallas Cowboys receiver Traeshon Johnson is determined to make the most of his opportunity as an undrafted rookie free agent.
And Cowboys Nation - maybe exhausted by the seemingly endless offseason search for an "explosive No. 2 receiver'' - might as well consider the idea.

Dallas has admitted to the vacancy. ... while also wondering if somebody on the roster can step up alongside CeeDee Lamb.
Could the Cowboys mind gold from the likes of Jalen Tolbert, Jonathan Mingo, KaVontae Turpin, Jalen Brooks, Ryan Flournoy and newly-signed Parris Campbell?
Umm ... maybe.
How about going outside the building for an answer?
A reunion with Amari Cooper, who spent four years from 2018 through 2021, catching 292 passes for 3,893 yards and 27 touchdowns as a Dak Prescott weapon before his "shrinkage'' fade here and then in Cleveland and Buffalo?
A call to veteran free agent Keenan Allen, 33, who last year played under now-Cowboys defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus in Chicago where he managed to catch 70 passes for 744 yards and seven TDs?

George Pickens? DJ Moore? DJ Chark? Tyler Boyd?
Cowboys fans are all saying the same thing right now about pretty much all of the above names, characterizing them as "nobodies'' or "washed'' or "impossible dreams.''
So ... how about a miracle from nowhere?
Coming to The Star for rookie minicamp, the aforementioned Holden got a feel for what life will be like over the coming months with training camp in Oxnard on the horizon.
For Holden, he will be part of a rookie class hellbent on making their mark on the roster, but to do that, they must make the coaching staff take notice of their talents.
Part of that is focusing on the task at hand, but also watching how others conduct themselves both on and off the field, and for Holden, he's coming to a receiver room that has CeeDee Lamb as the centerpiece.

'I've been watching CeeDee for like three years now,' Holden said. 'I'm yet to be in a room with him, I haven't met him yet, but when I do, I'm going to definitely pick his brain every chance I get.
'I like watching other receivers and taking stuff out of their game and adding it to mine. Just taking bits and pieces and adding them to my toolbox.'
Ah, "the other receivers.''
Ah, "the toolbox.''
Every one of these guys, from Tolbert (at the top of the totem pole as a candidate) to Mingo (the most talked-about by the front office, maybe in part to justify having traded a fourth-round pick for him) to Holden (at the bottom of head coach Brian Schottenheimer's depth chart) ...

Gets to consider himself a candidate.
The rookies are just getting started after a short minicamp as Holden and some early installs with the coaching staff. Now all will have a break before mandatory OTAs, and minicamp begins in June, and training camp in Oxnard in July.
Schottenheimer will have a chance to explore what he might have.
And Jerry and Stephen Jones will have a chance to maybe admit what they don't have.

Dallas made some impressive offseason moves over the past few months that have them ready to compete this fall. The Cowboys also got some good news today at the start of mandatory minicamp. Cowboys stars Micah Parsons and Trevon Diggs are both attending mandatory minicamp, per The Athletic's Jon Machota. This is a big development for the Cowboys to have two star players back with the team. Parsons has been in a contract dispute with the Cowboys this offseason. He is seeking a massive multi-year extension with Dallas and is rumored to be looking for $200 million on the new deal. Cowboys fans, and the rest of the NFL media, have critiqued the Cowboys for dragging their feet on extending Parsons. Still, Parsons promised that he would attend minicamp and he delivered. 'I will be there,' Parsons posted on social media on Wednesday. 'I haven't missed a mini-camp in 4 years! Even though the contract is not done, I have teammates and a playbook ! I'm preparing as if I will be on the field the first week of camp! But it's in the owner's hands. I'm ready to win a Super Bowl !' Parsons added that he did not want to 'give away any money for fines either.' Hopefully the Cowboys finally lock Parsons up on an extension before the start of the regular season. The return of Trevon Diggs is a great sign that he is on the mend. Diggs has been away from the team this offseason while he rehabs his surgically repaired knee. As a result, he has missed the first two phases of the team's offseason program. Diggs is taking his recovery seriously and has been rehabbing in Miami. He may even leave some money on the table if he misses enough offseason activities. Perhaps that helps explain Diggs' presence in Dallas this week. Either way, the Cowboys will get a good look at Diggs at mandatory minicamp. They will likely play it safe with Diggs this offseason and not rush him back onto the field if he is not ready. In the meantime, the Cowboys will be set at outside cornerback with DaRon Bland, Kaiir Elam, and rookie Shavon Revel Jr. taking snaps at outside cornerback. Joe Theismann is always learning, especially on the golf course
When it comes to people with a zest for life, Joe Theismann is right at the very top. The NFL legend is all about finding a good game of golf these days, but for more reasons than just getting in a round of 18 holes. Theismann is all about getting quality out of life and quality out of golf, and ultimately finding a way to merge those two ideas together. Later next month you'll be able to see Theismann in the middle of this process during the annual American Century Championship. Theismann joined me this week to discuss his upcoming appearance at Lake Tahoe among a variety of other subjects. You can watch our conversation below. What struck me about Theismann is that he is an all-time NFL great. He has lifted the Lombardi Trophy, accomplished a number of incredible things and been surrounded by tremendous people in various walks of life. But he wants to continue learning and growing, and golf is a huge avenue for that for him. He noted how any time he golfs, but obviously at the ACC, he loves to ask people about how they achieved success in hopes that he can bottle some of that up for himself. Education and innovation are hallmark qualities of who he is as a human. One of the ways that Theismann has helped innovate the ACC is through a fantasy game that they have. Beginning June 23rd you can head to ACC Fantasy Golf and establish your team for each day of the event. Winners will receive some serious prizes, including a potential trip to next year's version of the event. Cowboys' Micah Parsons on latest contract talk, if he will attend training camp without new deal
FRISCO, Texas — After not participating in the three weeks of organized team activities, Dallas Cowboys star pass rusher Micah Parsons was in attendance for the first day of minicamp on Tuesday. However, Parsons did not take part in drills. He said he was dealing with back tightness from recent training with cornerback Trevon Diggs. At one point, Parsons spent roughly 30 minutes talking with Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones. According to the four-time Pro Bowler, his contract situation was never discussed. 'I'm pretty hopeful,' Parsons said of getting a new contract before training camp starts in late July. 'I understand that it's up to (Jones). He gives the green light on everything. Hopefully something is done by next month.' Advertisement For that to happen, Jones and Parsons' agent, David Mulugheta, have to communicate. That has not yet happened. Parsons believes Jones is the one who needs to make that call. 'That's what it kind of comes down to,' Parsons said. 'He gives the green light. He's the owner. He's pretty much what it takes to get anything done anywhere around here. It's up to him. 'But I'm going to still keep playing football. I'm going to keep showing up and preparing like any other year.' Why can't the call come from Parsons? 'Nah,' he responded. 'Next question.' Watt and Cincinnati's Trey Hendrickson, did not attend their minicamps on Tuesday. 'Some people like to take their time more than others,' Parsons said. 'You can't rush the process. (Jones) wants the deal to go as cleanly as possible. I want the deal to go as cleanly as possible. It's just about getting it done as cleanly and quickly as possible.' Even if a contract isn't finalized by the time the Cowboys depart for training camp in California, Parsons said he will be in attendance. Recently, Cowboys star players like wide receiver CeeDee Lamb and former right guard Zack Martin didn't attend the start of training camp while trying to get new contracts. 'I got my house,' Parsons said. 'It's already set and done so I'll be in Oxnard. Me, my kids, my family, we'll be there.' On the practice field? 'Yeah, I'll be out there,' he said. Practicing? A mostly new coaching staff in Dallas puts even more pressure on the Cowboys to get something done so their best defensive player is practicing and can hit the ground running when the season starts. 'I think it's important (to be here),' said Parsons, who was wearing a play-call wrist band. 'Just building the knowledge of the defense, understanding what (new defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus) and them are trying to do. Very dynamic scheme. I'm pretty excited about it, just going through a couple of installs and a couple of plays with the guys.' The relationship between Parsons and Schottenheimer was recently on display, via a popular social media trend, calling the head coach to wish him 'goodnight.' So I got on my kids, my daughter, I was like, 'I don't do much of that social media stuff.' But he got me pretty good.' Why didn't Parsons try the same prank on Jones?
