Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott could be making a rare tweak to his accessories this season.
Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott could be making a rare tweak to his accessories this season. originally appeared on Athlon Sports. In this age of on-demand viewership - with social media highlights, constant studio analysis shows, behind-the-scenes footage transcending just the game broadcast - football is as accessible as ever. Advertisement And naturally, most people's eyes are drawn to the quarterback when they watch. So his on-field "look" is as dissected as any player out there. Some players take pride in their assortment of accessories, as if they are playing a real-life version of the Madden video game where each arm sleeve and wristband equips a new attribute to their customizable player performance. Players don't always carefully craft their aesthetic, but die-hard fans tend to notice and care. Especially if the look becomes a signature style for the player after many years. That is the case for Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott, who has worn the double long sleeve look under his pads for a while now. Advertisement Cowboys Nation has grown accustomed to their QB1's appearance, but nostalgic highlights of Dak's breakout rookie season in 2016 offer a different flavor from when he used to rock a default sleeveless look. For some time, fans have called for Prescott to update his on-field accessories with something new. Maybe this desire is fans' latest delusion that a new look will get the Cowboys closer to a Super Bowl. Well, Dak may be taking them up on the idea. At OTAs this offseason, Prescott has been seen wearing one arm sleeve rather than his usual two. His practice attire has cycled through different looks in other summers, but has still led to his traditional game-day fit in the fall, so this shouldn't be looked too much into. Advertisement But in a behind-the-scenes video of the Cowboys taking part in "picture day", a subtle tweak to Prescott's look has sent fans into a frenzy, thinking he could actually be making a change for the 2025 season. These pictures and videos are used for various marketing efforts throughout the season, like posters and hype videos shown on the AT&T Stadium jumbotron during games. The idea is for players to wear their full uniform as it will look on the field, accessories and all - Overshown is wearing eight arm bands for those counting at home. However subtle a change, Dak has tweaked his arm sleeve lengths. Advertisement Stop the press! His right arm now features a short-sleeve cut with his left sleeve still at full length. The two sweatbands on his wrist complete the look, but those are pretty standard. At practice, Prescott has been more experimental with his right sleeve length, being seen letting his arm breathe completely at times. Maybe having less constriction on his throwing arm will help mobility? Or maybe his accessories have no bearing on his physical performance and it's simply time for a fresh up. Either way, Cowboys fans are excited about the prospect of a "new-look" Dak. "One sleeve Dak official 🔥" one fan wrote. Advertisement "DAKS AURA OMGGG" another added in appreciation of Prescott's eye-catching change. "Single sleeve in promotional material???" said another hopeful. Dak's aesthetic on the field doesn't dictate his performance in anyway, but it could still draw as much attention from crazed fans (and haters) as much as his touchdown total. Regardless of the level of intrigue, these are the types of things that fill the minds of football fanatics during this offseason lull. What Cowboys fans should really care about is how much the team increases their win total - not Dak's arm-sleeve total - at the end of the season. Cowboys Frustrated Fans React To Micah Parsons Bad News on Contract Talks
Cowboys Frustrated Fans React To Micah Parsons Bad News on Contract Talks originally appeared on Athlon Sports. FRISCO - There exists a Dallas Cowboys inevitability here. Micah Parsons will be a "Cowboy for Life.'' Sometime between now and the start of the 2025 NFL regular season, he will sign a contract with "America's Team'' that will pay him in the range of $40 million per season. It might be a four-year deal, or maybe a five-year deal. Advertisement And Parsons will experience another stellar season capped by a Pro Bowl berth. But first? Another inevitability ... and one that is irritating Cowboys fans. Yes, "it takes two to tango.'' But we have the scoop on what's going on at the moment - and why what's going on is "nothing.'' This offseason, Jerry and Stephen Jones obviously shifted into a different gear from where this franchise was a year ago. No, the Cowboys' 82-year-old owner didn't go "wildcattin''' as was the case decades ago. But entering the 2024 season, Dallas let 11 starters/rotational players leave via free agency ... and barely lifted a finger to replace them. Advertisement And they did so, by the way, on the heels of Jerry announcing theatrically that the franchise was "all in'' on chasing a title. It was - much to the chagrin of Cowboys Nation - empty gibberish. The Dallas front office wasn't "all in'' in any traditional sense. "Mail it in'' is more like it. Fast-forward to this offseason ... and yes, there is a different "all-in'' flavor. Dallas has acquired a dozen veterans, most with starter credentials. The Cowboys made four trades, capped by a successful plan to land a No. 2 receiver to complement star CeeDee Lamb resulting in George Pickens rolling into town. But something is missing. Advertisement A source tells that while the Joneses and Parsons spoke face-to-face at least three times, with the parties hovering around the idea of a five-year, $200 million contract that would make Parsons one of the highest-paid players in NFL history ... the Joneses have yet to make official follow-up contact with agent David Mulugheta. One key here: The player can talk contract with a team official; that's CBA-legal. But once the player informs the team that it must go through the agent? The team must do exactly that. And it's now been six weeks since Parsons issued that request to the Joneses. Advertisement How can the Cowboys claim to be "all in''? To fans of the team, they cannot make that claim until they sign Parsons - or, heck, at least until they call his agent. We hear it constantly, in our conversations with Cowboys Nation on our Fish Report YouTube show and elsewhere: Fans are enthused about the 2025 season, but frustrated by the bad news because one major issue lingers. And for the moment, the Joneses are doing nothing about it. Cowboys Fans All Saying The Same Thing About Move On New Receiver
FRISCO - Dallas Cowboys receiver Traeshon Johnson is determined to make the most of his opportunity as an undrafted rookie free agent. And Cowboys Nation - maybe exhausted by the seemingly endless offseason search for an "explosive No. 2 receiver'' - might as well consider the idea. Advertisement Dallas has admitted to the vacancy. ... while also wondering if somebody on the roster can step up alongside CeeDee Lamb. Could the Cowboys mind gold from the likes of Jalen Tolbert, Jonathan Mingo, KaVontae Turpin, Jalen Brooks, Ryan Flournoy and newly-signed Parris Campbell? Umm ... maybe. How about going outside the building for an answer? A reunion with Amari Cooper, who spent four years from 2018 through 2021, catching 292 passes for 3,893 yards and 27 touchdowns as a Dak Prescott weapon before his "shrinkage'' fade here and then in Cleveland and Buffalo? A call to veteran free agent Keenan Allen, 33, who last year played under now-Cowboys defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus in Chicago where he managed to catch 70 passes for 744 yards and seven TDs? Advertisement George Pickens? DJ Moore? DJ Chark? Tyler Boyd? Cowboys fans are all saying the same thing right now about pretty much all of the above names, characterizing them as "nobodies'' or "washed'' or "impossible dreams.'' So ... how about a miracle from nowhere? Coming to The Star for rookie minicamp, the aforementioned Holden got a feel for what life will be like over the coming months with training camp in Oxnard on the horizon. For Holden, he will be part of a rookie class hellbent on making their mark on the roster, but to do that, they must make the coaching staff take notice of their talents. Part of that is focusing on the task at hand, but also watching how others conduct themselves both on and off the field, and for Holden, he's coming to a receiver room that has CeeDee Lamb as the centerpiece. Advertisement 'I've been watching CeeDee for like three years now,' Holden said. 'I'm yet to be in a room with him, I haven't met him yet, but when I do, I'm going to definitely pick his brain every chance I get. 'I like watching other receivers and taking stuff out of their game and adding it to mine. Just taking bits and pieces and adding them to my toolbox.' Ah, "the other receivers.'' Ah, "the toolbox.'' Every one of these guys, from Tolbert (at the top of the totem pole as a candidate) to Mingo (the most talked-about by the front office, maybe in part to justify having traded a fourth-round pick for him) to Holden (at the bottom of head coach Brian Schottenheimer's depth chart) ... Advertisement Gets to consider himself a candidate. The rookies are just getting started after a short minicamp as Holden and some early installs with the coaching staff. Now all will have a break before mandatory OTAs, and minicamp begins in June, and training camp in Oxnard in July. Schottenheimer will have a chance to explore what he might have. And Jerry and Stephen Jones will have a chance to maybe admit what they don't have. Related: 100 Men Vs. 1 Gorilla Gets Cowboys Video Treatment Related: Cowboys Move Dak and Micah in Leadership Shift

Michael Irvin isn't happy the Cowboys didn't hire Deion Sanders: 'We lost an opportunity here'
The Dallas Cowboys have hired Brian Schottenheimer as their new head coach to replace Mike McCarthy, and one famous Cowboys alumnus isn't happy with the decision. Michael Irvin, the Hall of Fame wide receiver who spent his entire 12-year career in Dallas, laid into his former team on Saturday in a video posted to his YouTube channel, lamenting their decision to hire someone who was already on staff instead of Irvin's top choice of Deion Sanders, another Cowboys alumnus. "Here's my issue. We lost an opportunity here. I don't know what happened with Coach Schottenheimer and the Cowboys, but Jerry [Jones, team owner and GM] is a shrewd, shrewd businessman, and this opportunity, I'm shocked he did not see. I was pushing for Deion Sanders to be the next head coach, and I still stand ten toes down on that push. 'Let me break it down. We have two NFC East teams in the NFC Championship game being played tomorrow. All eyes on them. The Philadelphia Eagles and the Washington Commanders. Our enemies on all fronts. And they're in a position that we haven't held in 30 f***ing years. The longest drought by any NFC East team. 30 years. ... You bring in someone who's already inside for head coach. You lose things there that you can't grab back that I'm worried about. "We're losing ground in the NFC. ... It was time to bring somebody in here that could shake things up and grab this last leg of Cowboys Nation. If we've got 30 years right now, and life expectancy is 100 years, that means by math one third of Cowboys Nation has never felt or lived the glory of a championship story. Don't even know about it. How the hell can they pass something down when they don't even know about it? "Worse yet, that generation has seen total domination from a team named the Kansas City Chiefs. Who in that span is running up on winning three in a row. So not only are you losing football games over here and opportunities over here and divisions over here, you're about to get our moniker snatched off our backs.' The moniker Irvin speaks of is America's Team, which the Cowboys earned in the 1990s during their last run of success. Irvin laid out his issues with hiring someone from the inside, focusing on what he believes are problems with team discipline. 'I know what we needed,' Irvin said. 'They don't have curfew. They don't have discipline. We were fourth in penalties this year. So how you do fix that? ... How do you do that when you're coming from inside?' Sanders has experienced success as a college coach in Colorado, where he's been for two seasons, coaching his son, QB Shadeur Sanders, Heisman winner Travis Hunter, and taking the Buffaloes to a bowl game. Early in the head coach hiring cycle, Sanders expressed interest in the Las Vegas Raiders opening, but nothing came of that (the Raiders recently hired Pete Carroll as their new head coach). Jones had reportedly spoken to Sanders about the Cowboys' head coach job several weeks ago, but it appears Jones decided to go a different way, much to Irvin's displeasure.
