Crusaders will be keen to dodge the Hornets' sting!

Crusaders require two wins from their remaining four matches to secure the League One title and next up is Sunday's trip to Rochdale Hornets.
Head coach Carl Forster says his side are focused on getting their title charge back on track. North Wales experienced just their second defeat of the season as Swinton Lions ran out 24-12 victors in Colwyn Bay last time out.
Sam Wilde, Ollie Brookes and Jack Holmes were Cru's try-scorers on the day.
Forster said: 'We've got back in and dusted ourselves off, we've had some honest conversations around the Swinton defeat, there were some errors in there but as cliche as it sounds, we win and lose as a team, and we'll bounce back.
'It felt a bit like the end of the world at full-time on Sunday, but when you take the emotions away, it's only our second league defeat of the season, we've got four games left and need two wins to seal the title so the focus now is on what we have to do.
'That starts this weekend against Rochdale, who I think are a lot stronger than their league position suggests.
'If you look at the points for and against then it probably tells you a better story of what they're about and how difficult they can be to break down.
'They've gone to Goole just two weeks ago and put 50 on them, so we can't think that just turning up Sunday will be enough – far from it.
'Friday, we'll take a closer look at them but also have a talk about ourselves going into that game and the fact that we probably feel we owe it to us as a group to show what we can do after the disappointment last week.
'We've got big characters in this group, and the mood is just one of focus now, we've picked ourselves up and we'll be ready to go again this weekend.
'Our last defeat in the league saw us kick-start a good run of form so let's get that back going again now.'
As with last weekend, if everything goes their way, it will be a title-winning Sunday for the Crusaders.
Defeats for Swinton Lions and Workington Town, away to Goole Vikings and Dewsbury Rams respectively, would see Crusaders win the league if they can get the better of Rochdale.
Elsewhere, Keighley host Newcastle and Midlands travel to Whitehaven.

Boombox & throwing stones - how Saints lured Baccus?

Keanu Baccus sat by his window in Mansfield, day-dreaming the summer away from the anonymity of the scary end of the League One Australian couldn't help but let his mind wander back to the old gang in Paisley. A year may have passed since swapping Ferguslie Park for Sherwood Forest, but there they were still upsetting teams who don't like being closed down or tackled, coasting to the top six yet again on a wave of niggly fouls.*Tap*What's that at the window?*Tap* *Tap*Why, it's Stephen Robinson and John Park tossing up wee stones in the front garden! Park is holding a boombox aloft which is blaring Under the Moon of Love by Showaddywaddy, Robinson is making the "Can I get the cheque?" signature gesture over a two-year contract with the option of a that, I assume, is how the lovable Messi-pocketing Socceroo came to be back in Paisley this past to the commencement of his first spell, the relentless midfielder was called on for a full 90 minutes while the ink on his signature could still be midfield equation containing equal parts Mark O'Hara, Killian Phillips and Baccus is still to be fully balanced. Phillips has made the right-hand side of a midfield trio his own since arriving at the SMISA Stadium, leaving Baccus to slot into the central holding role vacated over the summer by Caolan this new combination allowed O'Hara to be sacrificed for attacking reinforcements in the second half without compromising much by way of battling and pressing. These three parts could well be rotated as duos as the season progresses, allowing Robinson to get two wingers on to the pitch with greater game itself, despite the fever-pitch build up as a home opener and chance to see Baccus once more, fizzled out to little Berthel Askou's Motherwell have the mild air of Simo Valakari's early St Johnstone - visibly comfortable on the ball though hesitant to do much with an off day for the Buddies, the home side managed more shots on target (and better chances they were too; eminently buriable) despite very limited possession. For stats fans, that's a shot on target for every 71 attempted passes compared to the Steelmen's 200.A midfield with Baccus back at the helm will likely not spell passive tiki-taka, but should make the experience of playing the Saints an unpleasant one for almost every opponent this it on!Mark Jardine can be found at Misery Hunters, external

Can Cardiff 'win anything with kids'?

After an opening day win at home to Peterborough United and a draw at Port Vale, BBC Sport Wales asked Cardiff City fans for their views on the start to the League One "I predicted City would finish 9th this season and after 2 games with sides likely to finish in the bottom half, nothing changes my view. The squad is light, we need a left back, [Jesper] Dalaand should go, a new centre back and [Chris] Willock should go. A winger is needed and another forward if [Callum] Robinson goes. I'm all for us playing local lads but this team isn't good enough to compete at the top. If [Vincent] Tan doesn't sell soon it will be another failed season".Jon: "Although Alan Hansen was proved wrong in his statement that you 'won't win anything with kids', I do think we need some experienced players at left back right, back, creative midfielder and a striker. 46 games is a long time for these academy players and we need a bigger squad with more depth in my opinion. A couple of injuries or suspensions in key areas and we are in trouble. That said, great to see our talented kids coming through to the first team!".Ross: "Reality has set in after a great start against Peterborough, the defence still needs work and reinforcements as it's deficiencies that got us here in the first place".Gary: "No outfield incomers. Very poor at Port Vale. Already guilty of unnecessary team changes, not likely to stimulate player confidence, especially goalkeepers. Will likely end the season above mid-table".Alex: "We look like a mid-table side, which is as expected. Can't understand why we brought in another goalkeeper on loan. Makes you question the manager's judgment".Steve: "We have the right manager for this club. We don't need signings, just belief. In recent years we have invested in young talent only to find they are blocked from the team by panic buys and overrated, over the hill players. This year feels different".

Will Charlton buck the cup rotation trend?

After the Lord Mayor's Show on Saturday, Tuesday evening's Carabao Cup clash promises a quieter affair — with stand closures and a more modest crowd — as Charlton Athletic welcome a second Hertfordshire side - Stevenage - to The Valley in the first have made a flying start to their League One campaign, winning both of their opening games against Blackpool and Rotherham United have always posed a tricky test for Charlton, as recent results have shown: a defeat at Broadhall Way last season, and two hard-fought draws under former boss Steve Evans in the 2023-24 fairness, we enjoyed a more straightforward contest at The Valley back in February during our League One run, winning 2–0 thanks to goals from Matty Godden and Luke Berry. We also restricted them to no shots on target — a solid display against Alex Revell's both managers are likely to ring the changes, and here's the bugbear I've had for upon a time, teams like Liverpool managed all competitions with a 16-man squad. Modern football has long since abandoned that approach, with domestic cup games often becoming the stage for heavy rotation — especially in this league takes priority now, and this old dinosaur will just have to get use to imagine someone bucking the trend - you never know, another Swindon Town or Luton Town-style cup fairytale could happen, as a smaller club plays a full-strength side and is rewarded with silverware.I get the feeling Nathan Jones wants to do well in this competition and keep the winning momentum going. On paper, there should be enough in our new-look squad to progress — but Stevenage are awkward prediction: Charlton 3–1 Sullivan provides commentary on Charlton Athletic games for the visually impaired.
