Two employees injured as robbers hit two convenience stores in Melaka
MELAKA: Two employees at 24-hour convenience stores have been injured in separate early morning robberies here.
Melaka Tengah police chief ACP Christopher Patit said the first incident occurred at around 4.40am on Saturday (June 14) in Taman Sin Hoe, Bukit Baru. A 20-year-old worker, who was alone at the time, sustained injuries after she was struck on her head.
The attacker, who wore a helmet and face mask, approached the counter asking for an e-wallet transaction before grabbing the cash drawer. A struggle ensued and the victim was assaulted. The suspect fled with approximately RM300.
The victim was taken to Melaka Hospital and is in stable condition.
In the second incident at around the same time in Saujana Puri, Bukit Katil, a man dressed as a food delivery rider entered another store and also requested an e-wallet top-up.
"When the 31-year-old cashier attempted to return the change, the suspect reached into the cash drawer. The victim tried to stop him and was struck on the wrist with a metal object," said ACP Patit.
The suspect fled on a motorcycle. No money was taken but the employee sustained minor injuries.
Both cases are being investigated under Section 394 of the Penal Code for causing hurt in the course of committing robbery. – Bernama

Influencer Sofamann files police report over alleged fraud by ex-staff
BENTONG: Influencer and businessman Sofamann has lodged a police report against a former employee, alleging criminal breach of trust involving company funds. District police chief Superintendent Zaiham Mohd Kahar said the 27-year-old filed the report at 9.37pm on Friday. "According to the report, a 38-year-old male employee, who was a manager, is believed to have committed criminal breach of trust involving company funds. "Initial investigations estimate the total loss at approximately RM12,000," he said in a statement today. Zaiham said investigations are ongoing under Section 408 of the Penal Code. This section pertains to criminal breach of trust committed by a clerk or servant, and carries penalties including imprisonment and fines upon conviction. He urged the public to refrain from speculation as the case remains under investigation. Earlier, Sofamann in a post on his official Facebook account claimed that his employee had suddenly disappeared on May 9. In the same post, he alleged that he had discovered the man had misappropriated RM60,000 in company funds over six months. Following this, he filed a police report and advised the public to be cautious of his former employee's tactics.
