Jana Kramer Says Husband Allan Russell's Comments About Forbidding Her from Doing Sex Scenes Were a 'Joke'

Jana Kramer addressed her husband Allan Russell's statements about not allowing her to perform an intimate scene while on an acting job 'There's a conversation with every [job] we take,' Kramer recently told E! News Kramer also criticized fans for "[ripping] him apart" for his comments about acting in intimate scenesJana Kramer is addressing the controversial statements her husband made about her filming intimate scenes. The One Tree Hill alum, 41, spoke about her husband Allan Russell's thoughts on her taking on acting roles that would require her to be intimate with someone else, in a recent interview with E! News published Friday, June 6. 'He was joking,' Kramer told the outlet of her husband. 'There's a conversation with every [job] we take. It's the same thing with his line of work.' 'I'm not going to do something that is wildly taking my clothes off for no reason,' the actress continued. 'If it is creatively gonna move the needle and it's important to me for the role, he is so supportive.' On the Dec. 8 episode of Kramer's iHeart podcast, Whine Down, she and Russell discussed a recent episode of Yellowstone, in which Wes Bentley and Dawn Olivieri's characters had a sex scene. Without hesitation, the former soccer player told his actress wife she could never take on a similar role. 'There's not part of me that will ever, ever, ever allow that, ever, for a man to be that close to you like that,' he said. 'Never.' 'What if Taylor Sheridan has me audition and I book a role where I have to have that scene?' Kramer responded, referring to Yellowstone's creator. 'Then I will go Tommy Lee on everyone,' Russell, 43, exclaimed. 'I will be phoning the producers and threatening the producers, 'You need to change that scene. Well, this for the good of your health, you need to change this scene.' ' 'No. I wouldn't let you do that scene. No,' he added. 'That's not good for a marriage, that type of role. It's not. Especially [as] a man who's not in the acting world, it's difficult, therefore that's my opinion based on, I'm not in that world. You can keep smiling and laughing if you want. But let's flip it. Let's flip it because we always do that.' Never miss a story — sign up for to stay up-to-date on the best of what PEOPLE has to offer, from celebrity news to compelling human interest stories. Speaking with E!, Kramer said that much of her success is owed to her husband. 'I do owe a lot of it to my husband,' she told the outlet. 'In the past I wouldn't have focused so much on the work because I was so worried about, 'OK, what woman is he cheating on me with?' I wasn't able to truly settle and be confident.' 'He's like, 'I'm your lucky charm.' I'm like, 'No, you are!' It's been great,' she added, noting that Russell makes her feel 'not only supported, but loved and like I can do my work.' Kramer also criticized fans for "[ripping] him apart" for his comments about acting in intimate scenes. 'That's what marriage is—it's a conversation. It's not like, 'No, you cannot do this.' I don't think that's healthy,' she finished. The actress and country music star tied the knot with the 44-year-old Scottish soccer player on July 13, 2024, during an intimate wedding at Carnell Estate in Scotland. Sophia Bush alleges she endured ‘every kind of abusive treatment' on a show from ‘someone old enough to be my father'

Sophia Bush is opening up. During the Tuesday, June 3 podcast episode of Reclaiming with Monica Lewinsky, the former 'One Tree Hill' star, 42, talked about working on a TV show where she she suffered 'every kind' of abuse on the set, with 'someone old enough to be [her] father.' Bush didn't name the older man or the show, but it appeared to be 'Chicago P.D' from the timeline. 'I was in this great place [after One Tree Hill], and I was ready for what was next,' Bush said. 'And I did this comedy that I loved … for CBS. Then I went to work on this other show that was on my bucket list and then I had this whole other trauma. I had a workplace ongoing trauma revolving around an unending situation with someone old enough to be my father. And I was like, what is happening?' 8 Sophia Bush on 'Reclaiming with Monica Lewinsky.' ReclaimingwithMonicaLewinsky/YouTube 8 Monica Lewinsky interviewing Sophia Bush for the 'Reclaiming' podcast. ReclaimingwithMonicaLewinsky/YouTube Following her nine year run on 'One Tree Hill,' from 2003-2012, Bush starred on the NBC procedural 'Chicago P.D.,' where she played Detective Erin Lindsay for 84 episodes, from 2014-2017. Bush said she wasn't able to exit the unnamed show until April 2017, a few months before the #MeToo movement began. 8 Sophia Bush attends American Ballet Theatre's 2025 Spring Gala celebrating its 85th Anniversary at Cipriani South Street on May 28, 2025 in New York City. And [they] said, 'We're very aware we just made it out of that unscathed.' And I was like, 'Glad you did. I'm in so much therapy. I even diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.' She quipped, 'But I'm thrilled you guys didn't get dragged through the press, that's great.' The 'John Tucker Must Die' star recalled waking up in 'physical hell,' having a 'spontaneous illness' and being 'covered in hives' over the stress of that time period. 8 Ashlynn Harris and Sophia Bush attend American Ballet Theatre's 2025 Spring Gala celebrating its 85th Anniversary at Cipriani South Street on May 28, 2025 in New York City. I couldn't talk to people anymore,' she said. Bush, who returned to network TV for the current season of 'Grey's Anatomy,' added, 'I couldn't talk to strangers anymore. I couldn't be looked at anymore, especially in the work environment.' 8 Sophia Bush on 'One Tree Hill.' ©CW Network/Courtesy Everett Collection She added, 'Because I had to go to work ready for war all the time, I had to learn where to stand to not get elbowed in the ribs or how to block a scene to not be touched. It was just exhausting.' Bush has previously spoken about being unhappy on 'Chicago P.D.' In 2017, she told Refinery 29's Unstyled podcast that she was 'miserable' going to work every day, adding, 'I had to respect myself in a situation where I didn't feel respected.' 8 Sophia Bush as Erin Lindsay, Jesse Lee Soffer as Jay Halstead on 'Chicago P.D.' She said towards the end of her time on that show, 'I was probably difficult to be around because I was in so much pain and I felt so ignored. 'I feel like I was standing butt naked, bruised and bleeding in the middle of Times Square, screaming at the top of my lungs and not a single person stopped to ask if they could help me,' she continued.

Six degrees of Wilmington? These big acts haven't played here, but we're still connected

These days, Wilmington is getting more big-name musical acts than ever before. From country stars like Jelly Roll and Lainey Wilson to such well known pop artists as Teddy Swims and even "Weird Al" Yankovic, all have played Wilmington in the past couple of years. But when it comes to hosting the very biggest names in music, well, Wilmington isn't quite there yet. Still, we're closer to these names than it might seem, especially if one employs the famous "six of degrees of seperation" theory (aka Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon), which says that a person (or a town like, say, Wilmington) can connect with another person (like, say, Kevin Bacon) via a string of aquaintences that's no more than six steps long. We can connect Wilmington to Kevin Bacon in one step, for example: Bacon's never done a movie here, but he starred in the movie "Wild Things" with Neve Campbell, who made the fifth "Scream" movie in Wilmington. Let's put the theory to the test when it comes to big-name acts many would love to see in Wilmington. The biggest pop star in the world has never performed in Wilmington, but we can connect her to the Port City in one easy step. Swift has said her 2010 song "Innocent" is about an awards-show dust-up with rapper Kanye West, and West performed at the University of North Carolina Wilmington's Trask Coliseum back in 2006. One of the biggest rock stars of all time, Springsteen has never played Wilmington. But his 1993 song "Streets of Philadelphia" is the theme to the 1993 movie "Philadelphia" starring Tom Hanks. Hanks has never made a movie in Wilmington, but he was in 1998's "Saving Private Ryan" with Giovanni Ribisi, and Ribisi appears in 1996 Wilmington-shot film "The Grave," which made it into the Sundance Film Festival and helped launch the careers of Jonas and Joshua Pate ("Outer Banks"). That's two steps. Believe it or not, I can connect one of the biggest pop stars in the world to Wilmington in less than one step. Back when she was Beyoncé Knowles, the singer known for her "Cowboy Carter" album played the University of North Carolina Wilmington's Trask Coliseum with her singing group Destiny's Child on Oct. 2, 1999, according to a past issue of UNCW student newspaper The Seahawk. The Oscar- and Grammy-winning pop singer and actress Lady Gaga has never appeared in Wilmington. But on June 1, the mega star appeared on the fan event known as Netflix Tudum with Jenna Ortega, who starred in the Wilmington-shot horror movie "Scream" in 2022. So just one step. Filmington: Everything you need to know about Wilmington's starring role in new 'Scream' movie One of the biggest rappers in the business has yet to play Wilmington, but he's connected to the Port City in one step via an artist on this list: Beyoncé, who played Wilmington in 1999. Lamar's 2009 song "Beyoncé" pays homage to the pop star, and he also collaborated with Queen Bey on 2023 song "America Has a Problem." The iconic heavy metal band just played Charlotte in May, but they've never rocked a show in Wilmington. Metallica did, however, play with fellow metal act Pantera during the Monsters of Rock festival in Moscow in 1991, and Pantera played late, great Wilmington music venue The Mad Monk — the original Market Street location, before it burned down in 1991 — on Nov. 9, 1990, according to One step and done.
