Russian "Dream Teacher" Jailed For Sexual Abuse Of 11-Year-Old Student

NDTV18-05-2025

A married school teacher in Russia was arrested and jailed for 9 years for sexually abusing her 11-year-old student. Anna Plaksyuk, 27, reportedly forced the child to touch her breasts and made him kiss her on the lips, according to The New York Post.
Described as a 'dream teacher' by parents before, Plaksyuk made the student stay back after class and 'stroked his private parts through his clothes', a court in the Leningrad region of Russia was told.
She also sent her explicit nude pictures to the child and demanded he do the same for her in return.
As per the New York Post, the victim's mother found explicit messages and pictures between the teacher and her son on his son's WhatsApp. She reported the teacher to the school principal in the town of Toksovo in the northern outskirts of St. Petersburg. She accused Plaksyuk of "systematic flirting, stroking, and kissing."
As the scandal came to light, the teacher blamed the boy for starting the sick abuse in November 2023, which continued for four months before she was caught.
Plaksyuk told police that in the months before the assault began, the child had "made compliments to her" and "shown signs of attention."
According to local sources, many parents were shocked by the revelations and didn't think the accusations against her were true.
Colleagues said there was no indication of such a 'dark side.'
Plaksyuk was arrested in February 2024 and has spent the past year in pre-trial detention. She has now been sentenced for "violent acts of a sexual nature committed against a person under 14 years of age." She has also been prohibited from teaching for an additional year following her release.

Florida man arrested for peeing on ₹9 lakh worth of Vienna sausages

A 70-year-old man in Florida has been arrested after allegedly urinating on canned food items worth ₹ 9 lakh ($10,500) at a Sam's Club store in Lady Lake, a town near Orlando. The accused, identified as Patrick Francis Mitchell, was seen relieving himself in aisle 18 of the store, reportedly contaminating 188 bulk units of Vienna sausages and 345 units of Spam Classic. According to the New York Post, a witness spotted Mitchell mid-act and alerted store staff. Following the incident, Mitchell was seen walking over to the snack section, sitting on a piece of patio furniture for about 10 minutes, before heading to the register, paying for his items, and leaving the premises. Store officials later reviewed CCTV footage and matched the individual's Sam's Club membership ID with surveillance images and his Florida driving licence photo. He was subsequently arrested at his residence in Piedmont, a retirement community known as 'Florida's Friendliest Hometown', where he lives with his wife. Marion County Detective Ronnie Williams noted the incident showed 'behaviour consistent with urination'. Due to contamination by bodily fluids, the affected products had to be discarded. On social media, the incident sparked outrage. One user wrote, 'Convict this miscreant and give it jail time and lighten his retirement savings with a hefty fine,' while another quipped, 'Ah, welcome back Florida Man. It's been about a week.' A third commented, 'When you gotta go you gotta go! But honestly, feel for the store and its losses.'

NEET UG 2025: Mumbai court extends CBI custody of two held in exam score manipulation case; cites ‘larger conspiracy'

NEET UG 2025: A Mumbai court extended the CBI custody of two persons held in connection with the NEET-UG exam score manipulation case till June 16 after the probe agency said it needed to unearth the "larger conspiracy". Sandeep Shah and Salim Patel, who are accused of demanding and accepting undue advantage to influence officials of the National Testing Agency (NTA), were held on June 10 and were produced in court during the day after their previous remand ended. As per CBI, Sandeep Shah, in conspiracy with other accused, was contacting parents of NEET UG 2025 candidates with the promise of manipulating their marks for money, reported PTI. Shah allegedly demanded ₹ 90 lakh per candidate and later brought it down to ₹ 87.5 lakh after assuring admission to government colleges with the help of NTA officers, the agency said. The CBI, through public prosecutor Mayank Singh, submitted that Patel has accepted ₹ 32.50 lakh from one candidate and ₹ 75 lakh through hawala from three candidates, while one of the candidates was taken to Noida by Shah. Various documents such as hall tickets of candidates appearing for NEET were found in the mobile phones of the accused, while voluminous mobile data of the arrested accused needs to be extracted and examined, the agency told court while seeking five-day custody. Defence lawyers Sujit More and Rakesh Singh opposed the CBI's plea saying the mobile phones of the accused are with the probe agency and nothing further needs to be recovered from them. They prayed for judicial custody of the accused. The court said there was substantial progress in the investigation and noted there is need to confront the accused with 1600 pages of Whatsapp conversations. The court said these Whatsapp chats have names of candidates of NEET-UG 2025 whose marks were to be increased. The special judge stressed that the matter and the consequences of the crime are serious and for proper investigation police custody is required to be granted. As there is progress in the investigation, further police custody is justified, the court said. The results of NEET UG exam for the year 2025, were declared on Saturday, June 14. Mahesh Kumar from Rajasthan secured the first rank in the entrance exam.
