The Al-Nassr ace said at a press conference on Saturday: "The individual awards have lost some consensus, I can't say anything about who should win.
"In my opinion, those who stand out and win the Champions League should win.
"But there is no consensus. I don't believe much in individual awards because I know what goes on behind the scenes.
"Lamine [Yamal] could win, like [Ousmane] Dembele or Vitinha, other emerging players… but individual awards are irrelevant."

Following those comments, Ribery took to social media and posted a thinly-veiled dig at the Portuguese.
He said on an Instagram story: "So you NEED to win the Champions League to win the Ballon d'Or?" He accompanied the message with a trio of laughing emojis.
The dig came in reference to the 2013 Ballon d'Or rankings.
Ribery ranked third that year behind Ronaldo - who scored 66 goals in 56 games - and Lionel Messi despite winning five trophies, including the Champions League, with Bayern Munich.

The 42-year-old called the decision "unfair" in 2022 as he declared he should have won the gong in 2013.
However, Ribery's online row spilled over into real life as he was greeted by jeers from trolling Ronaldo and Portugal fans during an appearance at the Uefa Nations League final on Sunday.

Ribery was in attendance at the Allianz Arena for the final as Portugal lifted the trophy for a second time by beating Spain on penalties.
Ronaldo also scored his nations equaliser to make it 2-2 in regulation time, which had also come after his winner in the semi-finals against Germany.
The winning crowd made their feelings towards Ribery known as a video went viral showing the former winger in a heated exchange with some fans.
He was eventually forced to retreat inside his hospitality box.
Fans also ripped in Ribery online as they accused him of having a "live hate watch fail."
One user said: "A failed live hate watch must really hurt lol."
A second said: "Failed hate watch x100."
Another said: "Ribery failed hate watch."
A fourth added: "I know a failed hate watch when I see one."
The latest edition of the Ballon d'Or is set to have a surprise new winner, with the likes of Ousmane Dembele and Lamine Yamal among the favourites.

Fan dies after horror fall at Nations League final

A football fan has died after falling from the stands during the Nations League final between Portugal and Spain in Munich. The man died at the scene from his injuries after falling from the middle tier to the lower tier of the enormous Allianz Arena, which holds around 70,000 spectators. The fall happened during the first period of extra time on Sunday night, and led to medical professionals and stewards quickly cordoning off the area. As doctors fought to save his life, a tarpaulin was used to shield the man from the view of other supporters. 'A man fell from the middle tier to the lower tier, onto a staircase near the press area, and unfortunately died at the scene,' Munich police spokesman Tobias Schenk said, as reported by Associated Press. 'As always in such cases, the Munich police have taken over the investigation. Criminal police are on site, witnesses are being interviewed and videos reviewed. At this time, there's no evidence of anything but a tragic accident. 'We can't give more details at the moment, except to say the man was from the Garmisch-Partenkirchen area.' Luis de la Fuente, the Spain coach, said after his team's penalty shootout defeat: 'I want to show my deepest condolences because a fan has died. It reminds us of what is important in life.' In a statement, Uefa said: 'There was a medical emergency at the Munich arena, and despite the best efforts of the medical team, the person sadly passed away at 00:06. Our thoughts are with their loved ones at this difficult time.' A heated and fractious final was settled on penalties after the match ended 2-2 after extra time. Spain had twice taken the lead in Munich but Portugal struck back through Nuno Mendes and Cristiano Ronaldo before goalkeeper Diogo Costa made a decisive save from Álvaro Morata in the shootout.

Weeks later Iling-Junior, who originally departed Chelsea for Juve in 2020, was back in England and heading to Middlesbrough. And it was while playing for the Championship club that he decided he wants his future to be at left-back. Iling-Junior, who is battling with Tino Livramento to start there for England U21s in Thursday's Euros opening against Czech Republic, said: 'I definitely settled into the left-back role and going up and down the pitch [at Boro]. I enjoyed that, bringing my parts into the team with assists, tricks and being creative. 'It's an honour to be one of the players that the manager has chosen and I want to repay that on the pitch. 'Tino has obviously had that great season with Newcastle. The competition is always healthy. If I can bring out the best of him and he brings out the best of me and we go and win the tournament then it's happy days.' Iling-Junior has represented England at every level bar the seniors and has seen several of his team-mates graduate into the Three Lions first-team. 'There's a pathway and there's always someone watching. All the boys that have made their debut from the U21s and are now in that squad, that just goes to show that if you keep putting your mind to it and work with the coaches then you'll get repaid for your hard work. England's biggest divers of the season crowned... as shocking record revealed 'And definitely get back into Villa after this tournament and have some conversations and make an impact there as well. 'Unai Emery has always had conversations with me, so that helps. and he's kept track of my loans. So that's definitely a good relationship and once we get back after the tournament then we'll have those conversations. 'But, for now, it's definitely just focusing on the Euros and we'll see when I get back to Villa.' Iling-Junior has already tasted Euro joy with England at U19 level and was part of the Juventus side alongside the likes of Dusan Vlahovic and Adrien Rabiot that beat Atalanta to lift the Coppa Italia last season. 3 He added: 'Winning the Coppa Italia, winning a trophy, is one of the best feelings I've had. 'Juventus is a big, big club and I learned what winning actually meant there, and not just winning, dominating and that's a really nice feeling knowing that you're part of history. 'I enjoyed the pressure there. That gave me motivation each game to go out with a bit of pressure and do what I enjoy. Winning the Euros would definitely be up there with that.' England kick-off their Euro campaign against the Czech Republic on Thursday. They then face Slovenia three days later and finish the group stage against Germany on Wednesday 18 June with all of the Young Lions' matches being broadcast on Channel 4.
