Graham Alexander lauds Bradford's ‘great start' after cup win at Blackburn
The League One outfit continued their unbeaten start this season and flew out of the traps. Ibou Touray's volley set them on their way before Will Swan rolled a second into an empty net after a blunder from debutant goalkeeper Nick Michalski.
Dion De Neve reduced the arrears before the break but Bradford deservedly held on.
Alexander praised that fast start, saying: 'It's a great start for us. Two goals in four minutes. I thought we really went at them, showed we were here to compete and to win a game of football. I thought we played really well in the first half.
'Blackburn got a head of steam just before half-time, opened us up a couple of times. They get the goal from the long throw which is disappointing from our perspective, but we didn't let it affect our mindset going into the second half.
'Really tough game, had to work exceptionally hard out of possession but I thought we created really good opportunities to get an extra goal.'
It was a miserable night for Valerien Ismael who confirmed captain Lewis Travis wants to leave. He said the poor start killed his team.
'We lost the game in the first five minutes. It's clear, two big mistakes. Not concentrating. After that, we were on the front foot, created a lot of chances. It's disappointing we kill us straightaway in the first five minutes.'

Barnsley beat Fleetwood on penalties to reach Carabao Cup second round
Former Tykes striker James Norwood then scored to take it to sudden death. Reyes Cleary scored from 12 yards, before Cooper saved again from George Morrison as the League One side won 5-4 in the shoot-out. The hosts opened the scoring on 15 minutes after Cleary's cross was headed home at the back post by midfielder Jon Russell. Will Johnson had the ball in the back of the net for Fleetwood on 23 minutes but it was disallowed as he had scored directly from a throw-in. Davis Keillor-Dunn almost doubled Barnsley's lead on 26 minutes but volleyed over from inside the area. Liam Roberts equalised for Fleetwood on the stroke of half-time, scoring directly from a corner. Barnsley took the lead in the 59th minute, as Toby Mullarkey turned a Cleary cross into his own net. Substitute Owen Devonport levelled in the fourth minute of added time, firing past Cooper in front of the travelling fans to send the match to penalties.

The Japanese striker left Parkhead after three-and-a-half years in the January window after completing a £10million move to French club Rennes. Kyogo Furuhashi celebrates scoring his first goal for Birmingham City against Sheffield United in the Carabao Cup. (Photo by) | Getty Images He made only one start and five substitutes appearances for Rennes, totalling 120 minutes on the pitch, and failed to find the net. It was a far cry from the revered status the 30-year-old enjoyed in Glasgow where his 85 goals in 165 appearances made him a firm favourite among the Celtic supporters. Furuhashi cut his French nightmare short after just half a season, signing for newly-promoted Championship side Birmingham City this summer on a three-year contract in a deal worth up to £10million. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad He was handed the number nine jersey by his manager Chris Davies, a former Celtic assistant to Brendan Rodgers, and led the line in the league opener against Ipswich last weekend, playing 77 minutes of the 1-1 draw before being replaced. He retained his starting slot up front for the midweek Carabao Cup tie against Sheffield United on Wednesday at St Andrew's and took only five minutes to open his Blues account on his second appearance. He may not score an easier goal in English football after Demarai Gray put the ball on a plate for him by pouncing on a short passback from defender Dovydas Sasnauskas, pinching the ball ahead of goalkeeper Adam Davies before cutting it back for the alert Furuhashi to place it into the empty net from a few yards out. The outpouring of relief was evident for Furuhashi as he celebrated with his team-mates.
