Wellens 'under pressure' after Saints lose again
St Helens boss Paul Wellens has admitted he is under pressure following Saturday's Magic Weekend loss to Leeds Rhinos which continued his side's poor run of form.Saints were well beaten by the Rhinos in a dour affair, meaning they have now lost six out of their past nine games in all competitions and are mid-table in Super League.After the match, Wellens was confronted by an angry supporter as he made his way from the stand at Newcastle's St James' Park."I am going to continue to conduct myself in the right way despite being under a huge amount of pressure," said Wellens."If people want to behave in a certain way, let them do that, if that's the way they want to be. But I certainly won't stoop to that level."Half-back Jack Welsby came straight off the field at the final hooter while Jon Bennison was also displeased with being taken off in the first half for Jonny Lomax.Wellens said he is aware of the standards set at a club of St Helens' stature and understood that tensions are high given their current run."You lose two or three games at St Helens and it's not like any other club. But I wouldn't have it any other way," he added."Huge standards are what makes successful teams. I feel like I keep repeating myself in that there's effort, but don't quite nail a few things that are vital in games against good sides."
