
T-Mobile customers are only now finding that T-Life records their screen
Many T-Mobile customers weren't particularly happy about being forced into using T-Life, which is the go-to app for almost everything. And now, customers may have discovered another reason to not like the app.
If you are a T-Mobile user, it's pretty much mandatory to use T-Life. The app is required even for in-store transactions and you might be turned away from stores if you don't have the app on your phone. Some users also complain that the app is buggy and not easy to use. Another thing that annoys many customers is that the app displays ads. And now, customers have come across another red flag. The T-Life app features a screen recording tool that's toggled on by default. As the name implies, the tool records your screen while you are using the app. T-Mobile says it uses the recordings to analyze your information and improve how you use the app.

It's not clear whether the toggle has always existed, but, in any case, it's only now that most people have become aware of it and as expected, there's a bit of a blowback.

Since the feature doesn't record your activity outside of the app, some people may not mind it. Also, considering T-Mobile now wants customers to do everything on their own using the app, the tool makes sense, considering it will allow customer service representatives to help those who are struggling. The feature will let them see how you are using the app and assist you if you get stuck. Apparently, the feature will mostly only be used by store representatives to help you with the upgrade process.
Some users also claim that the feature kicks in when you shake your phone while using the app when you encounter an error. Doing this sends a screenshot to T-Mobile so that it can fix the issue.

The bottom line is that there isn't necessarily anything inherently wrong about the feature. T-Mobile seems to have deployed it to improve the app. However, it might have been a better idea to notify customers about the feature first and make it opt-in.

The dot-matrix style lights system that's supposed to replace the Glyph Interface isn't visible in the image like in the teaser from just a few days ago. It's unclear from the picture if the Nothing Phone (3) will also have a different shape, but the surface doesn't seem to be transparent like in the previous models. Well, one is hidden under a plastic circular cap that makes it look like part of the design, at least judging from the picture posted by screws on the back side of Nothing's phone struck a slightly discordant note design-wise, at least for me, so I'll be happy if the UK company decides to make a change in this been a lot of talk surrounding the removal of the Glyph Interface, but the overall impression seems to be that Nothing's decision based on users' feedback was the right one. I'm not so sure that replacing it with a dot matrix lighting array will make any difference, but time will tell. I think people want a flagship with solid specs and good software. These lighting array systems seem to be just gimmicks that most people don't ever use or use a lot less to justify their existence. Nothing has already confirmed that it's first-ever flagship, the Phone (3), will be officially introduced on July 1. We already know it will cost around £800, but that's about it.

Apple's iPhone 17 Air may leave out a fan-favorite upgrade
A new rumor about the iPhone 17 Air throws a bit of cold water on the display excitement some of us have been harboring. The iPhone 17 series has been popping up in rumors for a while now, but it's still pretty early – and Apple's usually great at keeping secrets. So, as you'd expect, the info out there is all over the place. Recently, a leak got us all (me especially) quite hyped about the base iPhone 17 model getting something long overdue... a ProMotion display. But then new rumors said there will likely not be a ProMotion display for the iPhone 17 or iPhone 17 Air . Generally, ProMotion displays rock a 120Hz refresh rate, but the key here is that it's adaptable to what you're doing. It can go all the way down to 1Hz to conserve battery life, and that's what enables the Pro models' always-on displays. So, the iPhone 17 Air may get a 120Hz refresh rate, which makes scrolling smooth and animations fluid, but may miss out on the always-on feature that Pro users are used to. The iPhone 17 Air is expected to replace the 'Plus' model in the upcoming iPhone 17 series. It may come with a new design and a Pixel-like camera island, but its main selling point will undoubtedly be its extra-thin profile. The phone is said to measure around 5.5mm, which is incredibly thin, and its dummy unit has leaked repeatedly alongside other iPhone models, flaunting its thinness. Despite the fancy looks though, it seems the Galaxy S25 Edge may have failed to meet Samsung's expectations when it comes to sales, at least judging by certain hints... I wonder if the Air will be met with a similar fate. For me, the lack of ProMotion on the iPhone 17 Air is a big miss, if this rumor is true. What's even worse is that ProMotion may have actually helped with battery life, but hey, Apple does need a way to push people to the Pro models, right?
