Crumbling 4-room Ayodhya school gets PCI nod in 8 min: CBI
Ahmedabad: In what the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has called a "premeditated abuse of regulatory processes", a ramshackle four-room primary school in Ayodhya was approved to run a pharmacy college after an online inspection that lasted barely eight minutes. The inspection, conducted via Zoom on July 3, 2023, forms a central piece of evidence in the corruption probe against Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) president Dr Montu Kumar Patel and others. According to the preliminary enquiry triggered by a complaint from the Union ministry of health and family welfare, the PCI replaced physical site inspections with online inspections from April 2023. The CBI's findings revealed that the virtual inspection of the Ayodhya school was conducted without the principal being present, and the institute's infrastructure was even flagged as "non-compliant". Yet, the PCI allowed the institution five days to file an affidavit of compliance, and just two months later, on Sep 6, 2023, the PCI's executive committee, chaired by Dr Patel, formally approved the institute to offer a diploma in pharmacy, revealed the CBI documents. CBI officers traced nearly Rs 10 lakh in cash and Rs 95,000 via three separate bank transfers to a local primary school teacher, who was tasked with managing the inspection, preparing documentation, and securing PCI approval. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Villa Prices in Dubai Might Be Lower Than You Think! When CBI investigators finally visited the institute, they found it to be nothing more than a dilapidated four-room school with no faculty, no infrastructure, and no students, and clearly unfit to function as a pharmacy college. The Ayodhya case is just one among at least 23 similar approvals uncovered by the CBI across Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, and Rajasthan. In all these cases, pharmacy colleges were sanctioned despite falling short of the mandatory standards. On June 30, 2025, the CBI registered a regular FIR under IPC Sections 120 B (criminal conspiracy) and 420 (cheating), and Sections 7, 7A, and 8 of the amended Prevention of Corruption Act.

14 Booked For Illegal Country Liquor Trade
Nagpur: Mouda police in the district have cracked down on illegal liquor trade, registering cases against 14 individuals for possession, sale, and supply of country liquor without licence. Acting under the Maharashtra Prohibition Act, authorities seized country liquor worth ₹6,510 during a special operation across Nagpur rural. The scale and coordination of the offences prompted police to invoke Section 112 of the BNS, 2023, targeting petty organized crime. The crackdown is part of a targeted campaign launched on July 22 to curb unlicensed liquor activities. Investigations revealed that several accused had established steady supply networks, some even crossing state borders. Those arrested include Dilip Khandale (Savali), Chetan Borkar (Savali, Kamthi), Vinayak Sonkusare (Itwari, Nagpur), Tulshiram Bhil (Salai Gonni), Gopal Babhare (Bhandara), and Idra Kumar Yadav (Rajnandgaon, Chhattisgarh), among others. Others include Sunil Banwari (Kalmeshwar), Subhash Sonwane (Jaripatka), Motiram Somkuwar (Mahalgaon), Bablu Chaudhary (Mahalaga), Anil Uike (Asoli), Ravikant Wadibhasme (Asoli), and Bhimrao Pund (Mahalagaon). by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Aligarh Woman's Rose Wall Stuns (Read) Rare Climbing Rose Seeds Learn More Undo Eight cases under the Prohibition Act have been registered in connection with the operation. Superintendent of police Harsh A Poddar has directed Mouda police to pursue organized crime charges, with a formal proposal already submitted to SDPO Santosh Gaikwad of Kanhan division. Further investigations are on, with more arrests expected.

‘They could have killed him': Irish woman details Dublin mob attack on Indian man; says paedophile claim was false
Representational image The woman who rescued an Indian man after a brutal mob attack in Dublin has now shared fresh details on Facebook video, saying he was falsely accused of being a paedophile, stabbed in the face, stripped naked, and left bleeding on the road for over an hour before help arrived. Jennifer Murray, a resident in Tallaght, said she was driving past a roundabout on Saturday evening when she saw a crowd of nearly 30 people, including teenagers and some adults, standing around. Murray said she stopped her car when she noticed a man standing alone, covered in blood. She said he was bleeding from head to toe. His nose was pouring blood. He told her, 'Please help me, please save me,'' she recalled. She said took him to her car and waited more than an hour for an ambulance. Gardaí, the state police force of the Republic of Ireland, confirmed they received a call around 6pm and that the man was later taken to Tallaght University Hospital. The man, believed to be in his 40s, had come to Ireland three weeks earlier for a job at Amazon. He was on his way to a temple when a group of around 10 teenagers attacked him from behind with a knife, shouting claims that he was a paedophile. According to Murray, they punched and kicked him, slashed his face, and robbed him of his phone, wallet, shoes, and trousers, leaving him naked in public. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Benefits of Trading Bitcoin CFDs IC Markets Learn More Undo Murray says the man was traumatised and too ashamed to speak clearly. "He was so extremely polite to me the whole time. I gave him a blanket to cover himself up. He was so embarrassed and shocked," she said. Later, she visited the home where he was staying and informed the Indian family who took him in. 'They jumped into action. His housemate's wife told me she had warned him that Ireland was not safe.' She also said the he was highly qualified, having studied at one of India's top colleges, and was hired for a role that required specialised skills not readily available in the local workforce. Murray also claimed that four other Indian men and one more individual had been facially stabbed by the same gang over the past few days.
