In the eighth season of this adult-centric sci-fi sitcom, demented genius scientist Rick Sanchez returns for more cross-universal hijinks with his highly traumatised grandson Morty. As shown in the trailer, embedded below, they'll visit undersea enclaves, futuristic farms growing crystalline corn, and cities that appear to worship giant eggs.
According to the official synopsis, "Rick and Morty is back for season 8! Life has meaning again! Anything is possible! Look out for adventures with Summer, Jerry, Beth, and the other Beth. Maybe Butter Bot will get a new task? Whatever happens, you can't keep Rick and Morty down for long. People have tried!"

"Season 7 just represents one more brick in that road, and it's season 8, which is already written, when that comes out, I think it'll be even more so," co-creator Dan Harmon tells The Verge.
"It'll feel like a return to form and kind of like a 'we're back, baby' kind of feeling, and hopefully, season 9 will be that but, you know, even more so. But it'll be because it's been a gradual process of just trying to get our wind in our sails again."

MrBeast is Borrowing Money from His Mom to Pay For His Wedding

Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. YouTuber MrBeast has said he is borrowing money from his mother to pay for his wedding, despite his net worth hitting $1 billion. MrBeast, whose real name is Jimmy Donaldson, runs one of the biggest YouTube channels in the world, with over 400 million subscribers, and is worth $85 million, according to a Forbes estimate in October last year. But Donaldson said on Tuesday that he has to borrow money from his mother to pay for his wedding because he invests most of his earnings. I personally have very little money because I reinvest everything (I think this year we'll spend around a quarter of a billion on content). Ironically i'm actually borrowing $ from my mom to pay for my upcoming wedding lol But sure, on paper the businesses I own are worth a lot. — MrBeast (@MrBeast) June 2, 2025 "I personally have very little money because I reinvest everything (I think this year we'll spend around a quarter of a billion on content)," he wrote on X. Woman Drives Through Park, Then She Gets 'Chosen' by Orange Cat

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. In a heartwarming clip that has captivated TikTok users, a woman finds herself "chosen" by a bold orange cat, who does everything in his power to win her over. Th viral video shared on Friday under the username @itmestephiegee, shows the orange feline making himself comfortable in the poster's car, exploring the vehicle as he rubs himself on her, trying to make it official. "I think I just got chosen! I was driving through the state park and this cat was sitting on a garbage can meowing at me," she says, as the kitty refuses to leave her side. "How am I going to leave? Oh my god! Look at this baby! It's the best day of my life, I can't!" she continues. When you come across a stray cat, it's important to check whether they really are a lost animal, a feral cat, or simply a wandering pet. The first cue will be in their looks. Stray cats tend to be underweight, unfamiliar with their surroundings, and may approach humans hesitantly. Unlike feral cats, which live in colonies, and avoid human contact, stray cats often hang out near homes. If you suspect a cat is a stray, check with your neighbors, and local lost and found groups, and if the cat is friendly, take them to your local veterinarian to check for a microchip. If they are indeed micro-chipped they can be safely returned. Alternatively, you can also contact a local animal shelter and ask for directions. If the cat appears to be injured, you can take them to your nearest veterinary practice to get emergency treatment and care free of charge. One user, Sarah, said: "Take him home and enjoy the love of an orange cat. your life will never be the same." A more cautious user, Nothinbut Nette, wrote: "Please call your local shelter with a description of the cat and your contact information. That's a friendly cat, someone might be looking for them." JamieLynn925 added: "He's making biscuits in your lap. He is yours and you are his. Don't fight it." Newsweek reached out to @itmestephiegee for comment via TikTok comments. What Happened in 'Love Island USA' Last Night? Kisses and Cast Controversy

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. The summer heat arrived early on Peacock's Love Island USA Season 7 premiere, which aired on Tuesday with a 40-minute delay, high-stakes drama, and an off-screen scandal that has fans calling for a contestant's removal. The reality dating show kicked off its newest season with a familiar formula—a tropical villa, 10 attractive singles, and immediate chemistry. Host Ariana Madix returned to guide the contestants through a new twist: Islanders were encouraged to "let their lips do the talking" by kissing potential partners before coupling up. Delays and a Steamy Start The cast includes Huda Mustafa, Belle-A Walker, Yulissa Escobar, Chelley Bissainthe and Olandria Carthen for the women, and Nicolas Vansteenberghe, Taylor Williams, Austin Shepard, Ace Greene and Jeremiah Brown for the men. The season kicked off with immediate intimacy, with kisses exchanged before official pairings. This summed up the vibe on the first night of the show's Fiji villa debut. "Love Island USA" Season 7 got off to a steamy start as Islanders coupled up under the Fiji sun in the first episode. Peacock announced a "slight delay" via X just one minute after the scheduled 9 p.m. ET airing. Viewers waited nearly 40 minutes, fueling anticipation—and frustration. "40 minute delay is CRAZYYYY," one viewer posted, while another wrote, "I survived the great love island delay of 2025." Love Island USA stars Yulissa Escobar (L) and Ace Greene. Despite the bumpy launch, the episode took bold stylistic steps, including an opening musical number and a twist on the usual format. Instead of the traditional coupling, the women kissed two men before choosing their partners, setting off a chain reaction of shifting loyalties and flaring tensions. Newcomers Charlie Georgiou and Cierra Ortega arrived later as bombshells, kissing multiple contestants in secret, further intensifying the dynamics inside the villa. 'Love Island USA' promises unpredictability, with bold twists and high-stakes drama unfolding from day 1. 'Love Island USA' promises unpredictability, with bold twists and high-stakes drama unfolding from day 1. Ben Symons/Peacock Couples quickly formed, including Chelley and Austin, Huda and Jeremiah, and Belle-A with Nic. Early conversations revealed layers of the Islanders' lives, including Huda sharing that she has a young daughter—a moment that brought depth to her connection with Jeremiah and introduced more real-world context into their budding relationship. Meanwhile, Yulissa paired with Ace. The show's evolving format, emotional volatility and sharp production choices suggest a strong season ahead. "Love Island USA is so back," Screen Rant's Cher Thompson wrote. "With interesting matches, intense emotions, and inventive twists... it feels like things can only go up from here." Racial Slur Yulissa Escobar, a contestant who revealed she had just exited a nine-year relationship, became the target of backlash after past podcast clips surfaced where she used a racial slur. In the clips, which Newsweek has not independently verified, she was heard using the N-word while discussing past relationships. Fan outrage erupted online, TMZ reported, with many vowing to vote her off the moment it becomes possible. The uproar also spurred activity on Escobar's social media accounts, with comments being limited and a friend jumping into the fray to defend her, commenting: "lol... y'all act like you never said the N word before, stop being so f****** sensitive." While Escobar has yet to respond to the backlash publicly, the moment cast a shadow over what otherwise began as a flirtatious and energetic season premiere. What Happens Next? In the teaser for Episode 2, Ariana Madix hints at further shakeups, encouraging Islanders to explore connections with contestants they haven't kissed yet. As the game intensifies, viewers are bracing for shifting alliances and inevitable confrontations. "I am not trying to be delusional," contestant Olandria Carthen said in the first episode, "but I am liking what I'm seeing so far."
