
Land pooling for Amaravati to go beyond 217 sq km
VIJAYAWADA: The Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) has approved the expansion of land pooling beyond the existing 217 sq. km limit, paving the way for large-scale infrastructure projects in Amaravati.
Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister Ponguru Narayana announced key decisions taken during the 48th CRDA meeting, held on Monday at the State Secretariat under the chairmanship of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu.
One of the major announcements was the finalisation of L-1 tenders for the construction of five administrative towers in Amaravati's core capital area at an estimated cost of Rs 3,673 crore. The GAD Tower, to be built at a cost of Rs 882 crore, has been awarded to NCC. HOD Towers 1 and 2, estimated at Rs 1,487 crore, will be constructed by Shapoorji & Pallonji, while L&T has been entrusted with the construction of HOD Towers 3 and 4 for Rs 1,304 crore.
'The construction works will begin soon and will be carried out as per the original designs prepared during the 2014-2019 period,' the minister said. He added that the development of these towers aims to bring all government departments under one roof, ensuring ease of access for citizens and efficient administration.

Samruddhi expressway to be linked to Vadhvan port
Mumbai: Maharashtra will connect the Nagpur-Mumbai Samruddhi expressway corridor to the upcoming greenfield Vadhvan port, slated to be the country's biggest such facility, via the Nashik highway, the upcoming Delhi-Mumbai greenfield expressway corridor, the Mumbai-Ahmedabad highway, the under-construction bullet train corridor, and the coastal road that is planned to be extended up to the port. Every 500 metres to a kilometre there is a groundwater recharge facility and ponds to hold rainwater," said chief minister Devendra Fadnavis soon after opening the 76 km last leg of Samruddhi between Igatpuri and Bhiwandi. The tunnel was built by Afcons. Fadnavis said over 3.3 million plantations were done using local species. "While building the road, 1,000 farm ponds were created. The inspection lasted around 45 minutes, including the time taken for the journey between Igatpuri and Amane. On the way back, Fadnavis and Shinde swapped seats with the CM getting behind the wheel, while Pawar remained in the same seat. The newly-constructed third creek bridge near Vashi Sion-Panvel Highway was also inaugurated via video conferencing on the occasion. The earlier operational 625 km of the expressway stretch was used by nearly two crore vehicles in the last two years. The maximum speed limit on the expressway is 100 kmh in ghat sections and 120 kmh on flat terrain. The expressway traverses through 392 villages in 26 talukas across 10 districts in five revenue divisions. A smart integrated traffic management system (ITMS) will be installed on the expressway soon, the CM said, adding they gave the 'right of way' to the Gas Authority of India Ltd for laying the pipeline while making the access control road between Mumbai and Nagpur. Dy CM Ajit Pawar said many, including farmers from his party, opposed the Samruddhi project at the beginning, but when CM Fadnavis announced very attractive compensation, they all sided with the project and accepted money. "The project was estimated to cost Rs 55,500 crore but eventually went well above Rs 61,000 crore. Around 12 crore cement bags were used in the project. Fadnavis started the project when he was CM, and now it was inaugurated during his second term, and such continuity is rare in politics. And also let's not forget the contribution of Eknath Shinde," he said.

Bank Official Stole Crores From FDs, Invested In Stocks. They Tanked
Kota: One would think their money is safest in a bank. But, in a shocking case, this bond of trust was leveraged by a woman officer of a bank in Rajasthan's Kota to dupe customers of more than Rs 4 crore. Reason: The lure of generating high returns in a short period by investing in stocks. And, she used the money in the accounts of more than 41 customers to achieve that. The fraud continued for two years, but no one in the bank had any idea about it. Sakshi Gupta, who was the relationship manager of the ICICI bank, misused the 'User FD (Fixed Deposit)' link and illegally withdrew Rs 4.58 crores from 110 accounts of 41 customers between the years 2020 and 2023. Ms Gupta, as per the probe, invested the money in the stock market. She, however, failed to deposit the money back in the accounts after she incurred heavy losses in the market. She has now been arrested and sent to judicial custody. The police arrested her at her sister's wedding late last night. The scam came to light when a customer came to the bank to inquire about his FD. The bank then filed a case with the police on February 18. The woman even changed the mobile numbers of the customers linked with the accounts so that they would not know about the transaction messages. "She linked the phone numbers of her family members to these accounts and withdrew more than Rs 4 crore. She even devised a system that she used to get the OTPs on her system so that the account holders don't get a whiff of the fraud," said investigating officer Ibrahim Khan. The ICICI Bank has yet to issue a statement. However, sources in the bank said it will compensate the loss suffered by impacted customers. A customer arrived at the bank to check if his money was safe after he learned about Ms Gupta's arrest. "I heard that Sakshi Gupta duped people of Rs 4 crore. I came here to check if my money was safe or not," said Mahavir Prasad. "Where should we keep our money? We can't keep it at home, now we can't keep it with the bank. What should we do?" he asked.

By leveraging his strategic location outside the US Consulate, he's reportedly earning Rs 5-8 lakh per month, outpacing many high-earning professionals like IT directors and chartered accountants, all without driving his auto. Rahul Rupani, a product leader at Lenskart, highlighted the story of the autorickshaw driver who's built a thriving business without driving his vehicle. Notably, hundreds of visa applicants visit the US Consulate daily, only to find out that bags aren't allowed inside. With no official storage options nearby, they often face uncertainty and anxiety about where to leave their belongings. Seizing this opportunity, the autorickshaw driver started a paid bag storage service. He caters to around 20-30 customers daily, earning Rs 20,000-30,000, which translates to a monthly income comparable to that of high-level corporate professionals. In a post on LinkedIn, Mr Rupai explained the auto driver's business model: "I was outside the US Consulate this week for my visa appointment, when security told me I couldn't carry my bag inside. No lockers. No suggestions. Just: "Figure it out." While I stood clueless on the footpath, an auto driver waved at me: "Sir, bag de do. Safe rakhunga, mera roz ka hai. ₹1,000 charge hai." I hesitated. Then gave in. And that's when I discovered this guy's brilliant business." See the post here: To accommodate the volume of bags, the autorickshaw driver has partnered with a local police officer who owns a nearby locker facility. The officer provides secure storage space, allowing the driver to safely store the bags, as his autorickshaw isn't equipped to hold them all. "And while most people are sweating over US visa interviews, this guy is running a zero-mile, hyper-profitable, bootstrapped operation. No MBA. No startup jargon. Just pure hustle and street-smart product-market fit," Mr Rupani wrote. He further called it "a masterclass in solving a hyper-specific pain point," admiring the driver's ability to build trust, ensure security, and charge a premium without relying on apps, funding, or formal business education. He praised the driver's resourcefulness, saying, "Real entrepreneurship doesn't always need a pitch deck. Sometimes it just needs a parking spot." NDTV is unable to confirm the authenticity of the post and the claims presented. While some users were impressed, others raised doubts and questions, seeking more information or clarification about the driver's business venture. One user wrote, "That's not his income alone. He has to share with multiple people, including the police. Otherwise, what stops other autowallahs from doing the same at a lower price? Also, I guess they don't know that there is s locker facility inside the consulate at a charge of 500."
