With a $500,000 national investment, this year's fund will provide both salon business grants and scholarships to cosmetology students across the United States.
Notably, the expanded fund will offer $370,000 in business grants to 37 salon and barbershop owners across the country. Each recipient will receive $10,000 in funding, along with access to business development tools, mentorship, and resources provided through a partnership with the National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC). Additionally, the top 40% of non-selected finalists will receive extended support, including group coaching and access to resources for Minority Business Enterprise certification.
The remaining $130,000 will be awarded as scholarships to cosmetology students at five schools. These institutions include Detroit Extravagant Academy in Michigan, Cosmetology Institute of Las Vegas, Universal College of Beauty in Los Angeles, Civella Beauty Academy in North Carolina, and Bennett Career Institute in Washington, D.C.
'Since the brand's launch over a year ago, Cécred's partnership with BeyGood has honored the knowledge and influence professional stylists have on their clients,' said Tina Knowles, vice chairwoman at Cécred and chair of the board of directors at BeyGood Foundation.
'Through my years of experience as a stylist and salon owner, I know firsthand the importance of an empowered stylist and an inclusive learning environment. With the Cécred x BeyGood Fund, we strive to uplift the professional hair industry and grow the salon community, while giving students and salon owners the tools they need to progress it forward.'
The fund's relaunch also coincides with the official debut of Cécred's Pro Program, which offers education, product support, and networking, for stylists looking to elevate their practice.
'Stylists are the heart of the hair care industry and pillars of their communities—they're trusted experts, artists, and entrepreneurs,' added Grace Ray, CEO at Cécred.
'At Cécred, our commitment has always been to uplift and invest in this vital community from the very beginning. Through education, access, and building meaningful relationships, we're proud to support professional and aspiring stylists build thriving businesses, elevate their craft and continue doing what they do best.'
