Janelle James Is 'So Salty' She Didn't Get ‘GLOW' Role After She 'Nailed' Audition

Before landing her breakout role on Abbott Elementary, Janelle James had her sights set on another show. The Golden Globe nominee recently revealed she once auditioned for Netflix's GLOW (2017-'19) a role she's still 'so salty' she didn't land, nearly five years after the streamer un-renewed the series for a fourth and final season amid the COVID-19 pandemic. More from Deadline 'GLOW' Canceled By Netflix; Won't Proceed With Fourth & Final Season Due To COVID-19 Alison Brie Opens Up About 'GLOW' Cancellation By Netflix: 'It's The Great Heartbreak Of My Career' Netflix Freshmen 'Pulse' & 'The Residence' Canceled, 'No Good Deed' On Indefinite Pause 'I haven't thought about this in a while,' she prefaced on the Let's Talk Off Camera podcast. 'Another thing I was excited about that I auditioned for once was GLOW. Do you remember that? The female wrestling.' Created by Liz Flahive and Carly Mensch, GLOW (Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling) was inspired by the 1980s syndicated women's wrestling show of the same name, starring Alison Brie, Betty Gilpin and a talented female-led ensemble as struggling actresses who audition for the wrestling show. 'I really wanted that role,' she told host Kelly Ripa. 'It was for one of the female wrestlers and we had to make up an '80s rap and perform it in the audition, and also do a fight scene with ourselves. I did this rap and then I did a round kick. And I remember leaving that audition like, 'Nailed it.' And did not get that role. James added, 'I have not watched one second of that show. I'm so salty. Maybe I'll watch it today.' The comedian is likely not as salty as fans of the show, after Netflix renewed it for a fourth and final season in 2019, filming two episodes before the streamer reversed its renewal, explaining the pandemic made 'shooting this physically intimate show with its large ensemble cast especially challenging.' Raw Commodities Bulls Have Been Beat Up. These 2 Major Catalysts Could Seriously Turn Things Around.

Much of the raw commodity sector has been beaten up over the past several weeks, including grains, soft commodities, and crude oil. However, veteran raw commodity market watchers are taking note of two important developments that could turn the tide more in favor of the bulls: a slumping U.S. dollar and falling U.S. Treasury yields. The U.S. Dollar Index ($DXY) on Tuesday hit a 3.5-year low and has been trending lower since mid-January. The USDX is a basket of six major world currencies weighted against the greenback. The index is a good gauge of the overall health of the U.S. economy. Most major global trade is conducted in U.S. dollars. When the greenback is depreciating, that means purchasing dollar-based commodities in non-U.S. currency is a less expensive endeavor — suggesting better demand for those dollar-based commodities, including metals, grains, energy, soft commodities, and livestock. Subscribe today! Importantly, trends in the currency markets tend to be stronger and longer lasting than price trends in other markets. The Dollar Index is in a six-month price downtrend, but that is by no means a mature bear market for currency. I expect a weaker U.S. dollar could be price-bullish for commodity markets for at least another year. The other element that could help pressure the U.S. Dollar Index is the upcoming BRICS meeting between Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa. These countries are all aiming to undermine the U.S. dollar's strength and reserve status around the globe. The BRICS summit will take place in Rio de Janeiro on July 6-7. The early July BRICS meeting will be closely monitored by the general marketplace, but especially by currency traders. The benchmark U.S. Treasury note yield this week has fallen to a two-month low of around 4.2%. Reasons for declining U.S. yields include tamer U.S. inflation reports in recent months, recent U.S. economic data that has not been overly weak but has also not been robust, and better safe-haven demand for U.S. Treasuries amid the recent geopolitical flare-up in the Middle East. Falling U.S. Treasury yields suggest the Federal Reserve will cut interest rates sooner rather than later. Currently, the market is factoring in at least two interest rate cuts by the Fed this year. The Fed's own current projections indicate two cuts. However, if Treasury yields continue on a mild downward trajectory in the coming weeks, don't be surprised to see the market factor in three rate cuts from the Fed. You can bet that Fed Chairman Jerome Powell is also feeling the pressure from President Donald Trump to cut interest rates. If and when the Fed does cut interest rates, it will likely stimulate consumer demand for goods and services due to lower borrowing costs. And if the Fed is cutting interest rates, other world central banks would be more likely to do the same, and in turn stimulate better global demand for raw commodities. This scenario would mean a cyclical upturn in raw commodity market prices that would likely last at least a couple years. The scenario also suggests many currently beaten-up raw commodity markets are presently value-buying opportunities. Circle Just Applied for a Bank Charter. How Should You Play CRCL Stock Here?

Circle (CRCL) shares remain in focus on Tuesday following reports the stablecoin firm has filed for a national trust bank charter with the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC). The filing underscores CRCL's commitment to integrating stablecoins into the U.S. financial system and – if approved – will enable the company to launch the First National Digital Currency Bank. Circle stock is currently up a staggering 500% versus its initial public offering (IPO) price. Circle's reported application for a national trust bank charter is a strategic leap toward regulatory legitimacy – which may prove a major tailwind for its stock price over time. If approved, the NYSE-listed firm will operate under direct OCC oversight, allowing it to manage USDC reserves in-house and offer institutional-grade custody for tokenized assets like stocks and bonds. This would help reduce reliance on third-party custodians, including BNY Mellon and BlackRock (BLK), streamlining operations and potentially raising investor confidence in CRCL shares. Simply put, the aforementioned filing signals Circle's evolution from crypto-native disruptor to federally regulated financial infrastructure provider – a narrative that the Street is bound to appreciate. Circle had a blockbuster IPO in early June and global interest in this crypto stock hasn't waned since. Still, JPMorgan analysts led by Kenneth Worthington assumed coverage of CRCL shares with an 'Underweight' rating this week, saying the valuation on them is 'outside our comfort zone.' Worthington acknowledged the company's 'early-mover advantage' and the outsized opportunity in stablecoin and USDC growth in his research note – but cautioned against buying Circle stock as all of it looks more than priced in already. JPM is convinced that Circle Internet Group could come crashing down to $80 per share within a year. Other Wall Street analysts, however, recommend loading up on CRCL stock at current levels since the Senate's recent approval of 'GENIUS Act' could open floodgates of demand for stablecoins. According to Barchart, the consensus rating on Circle shares currently sits at 'Moderate Buy' with the mean target of $220 indicating potential upside nearly 16% from current levels.
