Hong Kong's appetite for gossip-driven news such as reports on the drama-filled life of internet couple 'Mr and Mrs Ho' reflects residents' disinterest in politics and the allure of hot-button topics such as differences in the ages of married partners.

The couple first garnered media attention last year during a whirlwind romance that saw the 77-year-old Mr Ho tie the knot with the 44-year-old Mrs Ho within a month of meeting each other.
Their television appearances and lavish displays of affection put them on the radar of both residents and government officials, whose eyebrows were raised over their eligibility for public housing.
Most recently, their relationship took a darker turn when police arrested the couple over a domestic violence dispute that resulted in knife injuries to the back of Mrs Ho's head. Mr Ho was bitten on a finger.
Polytechnic University's Daniel Shek Tan-Lei said stories related to the couple, one of whom was a younger divorcee from mainland China, connected with residents and made them want to chime in with their opinions.

'The case is an age-gap romance with an older husband and a younger wife, which has its attraction to the public who are eager to gossip,' the chair professor of applied social sciences said.

China's Dragon Boat Festival coincides with second holiday, fuelling boom in family tourism
An unusual convergence of the Dragon Boat Festival and Children's Day in China over the weekend led to a surge in domestic tourism bookings to campsites, amusement parks and other attractions, according to travel platforms. 7 people injured, HK$400,000 watch stolen after Hong Kong street fight
At least seven people have been injured during a street fight in Hong Kong's Tsim Sha Tsui, with one victim claiming his HK$400,000 (US$51,000) watch has been stolen, according to police. Advertisement The force said it received a call at 3.22am on Monday reporting that four men attacked the seven people near 4 Austin Avenue. The attackers, who used their arms and legs during the assault, fled the scene afterwards. According to preliminary investigations, the attackers, who allegedly stole the 31-year-old victim's watch, had a dispute with the seven men over eye contact. The seven men, aged 19 to 31, suffered various injuries to their noses, mouths, heads, arms and stomachs. They were sent to Queen Elizabeth Hospital for treatment. The attackers, believed to be between 20 and 30 years old, were all clad in black. Advertisement Yau Tsim district crime squad is following up on the case, which has been classified as wounding and theft. No arrests have been made so far.
