Rasmus Hojlund remains adamant as AC Milan set deadline
INEOS splashed the cash to land Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig, and Ruben Amorim opted to keep Hojlund on the bench against Fiorentina, a clear message regarding his future.
The club have subsequently informed the 22-year-old to find a new club for himself even though he is hellbent on staying and fighting for his place.
AC Milan are reportedly in pole position, having already agreed on a loan fee, but the Dane is yet to give his green light for the move. That has not impressed the Serie A giants.
AC Milan unhappy with Rasmus Hojlund
This dilly-dallying has allowed four other Serie A clubs as well as Newcastle to enter the race. Igli Tare, Milan's sporting director, has refused to admit defeat, and is in England hoping to wrap up the move.
However, La Gazzetta dello Sport have now informed that the sporting director is losing his patience due to the Denmark international's stubborn stance.
The ex-Atalanta ace feels, despite Sesko's arrival, he will still have chances to shine, and is desperate to prove his critics wrong after two underwhelming seasons in Manchester.
As a result, the Rossoneri will wait for another week, and should the Denmark international not change his mind, they will move onto other targets.
'AC Milan is ready to close in on a loan deal with an option to buy, but the striker's agreement is still pending.
'Hojlund is a stubborn man. He's convinced he can have his chances in Manchester despite the competition. He wants to redeem himself after two so-so years with a trophy won—the 2024 FA Cup—and another lost in the final (last year's Conference League).
Dane confident of making his mark
'Tare flew to England to try and secure the striker's approval, but he won't wait forever. A week at most, no more, then he'll focus on one of his other targets: Vlahovic, Jackson, and Gonçalo Ramos.
'Hojlund doesn't want to leave Manchester out of pure pride. He appreciates AC Milan's attention, loves Italy and Serie A, as well as his family. But he's convinced he can still make his mark. Furthermore, he'd prefer a permanent transfer rather than a loan with an option to buy.'
INEOS are looking to conduct player sales, and with the money raised, they plan to go after Carlos Baleba and another goalkeeper.
Hojlund's stance, while admirable, will not help the co-owners one bit. As things stand, this saga is likely to continue until late in the window.

Why Kalen DeBoer chose Ty Simpson as Alabama football starting quarterback
Alabama football's second fall scrimmage was its first with a starting quarterback. Ty Simpson, after being named as the Crimson Tide's starting quarterback days after Alabama's first scrimmage, ran the first-team offense Saturday, Aug. 16. And with a starter named, Alabama coach Kalen DeBoer said the Crimson Tide now has the time to start officially preparing for Florida State and the rest of the 2025 season. "I think building a team and getting the momentum going," DeBoer said When we knew, we needed to do it. That's allowed us three weeks or prep building up our team for Florida State." After the first scrimmage, DeBoer said he and the Alabama coaching staff "knew we were at that point where we felt good about who should be the starter." Simpson was named Alabama's starting quarterback Monday, Aug. 11 after battling for starting reps with Austin Mack and Keelon Russell. In the second fall scrimmage, DeBoer said Mack and Russell "did a great job, same as (the) last scrimmage." Simpson, DeBoer said, had a higher completion percentage, but not as many explosive plays, giving credit to the defense. "Today, I thought he came out and executed the offense," DeBoer said. "And he just continues to be steady. Finds his times to make his plays. Today, he actually used his feet again and that's, I think, something people will probably underestimate as we go through the year of his ability to just make plays and keep plays alive. I thought he was steady. I thought he was consistent." Simpson has the most snaps of any quarterback on the Alabama roster, having backed up Bryce Young and Jalen Milroe for this past three seasons. Simpson has 381 career passing yards, 130 career rushing yards and three career touchdowns. Alabama football opens the 2025 season at Florida State Aug. 30. Liverpool star willing to join Barcelona as talks open
Liverpool kicked off their Premier League title defence with a 4-2 win at home against Bournemouth on Friday night. Goals from Hugo Ekitike - on debut - as well as Cody Gakpo, Federico Chiesa and Mohamed Salah ensured victory for Arne Slot's Reds. 🚨2025/26 LFC x adidas range🚨 LFC x adidas Shop the away range TODAY LFC x adidas Shop the home range today! Nonetheless the Anfield side were made to endure some difficult moments defensively - with the Cherries pulling two goals back from 2-0 down. Antoine Semenyo was the beneficiary of some questionable defending on the part of the Reds - with Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate both coming under scrutiny for their part in the goals. Liverpool in tricky position over Konate It has been revealed that Van Dijk was suffering the effects of a virus in recent days while Konate may well be distracted by talk over his future. Despite kicking off the season as first choice in Slot's backline, the 26-year-old may not be at the club by the time the transfer window closes. His current contract expires in 2026 and if no agreement is reached over a new deal then he could well be sold. With the France international effectively running down his deal, Liverpool are in a tricky position. Konate willing to move to Barca They have signed 18-year-old Giovanni Leoni as cover with Jarell Quansah having joined Bayer Leverkusen. But there could well be more movement in the centre-back area with Sempre Barca now claiming that Barcelona have opened talks with Konate's entourage over a move to Camp Nou. It had earlier been reckoned that Konate would leave for Real Madrid if he were to leave Anfield this summer but the process looks to have been stepped up with Barca in recent days. The source is claiming negotiations are underway between the Spanish champions and the defender - who is said to be open to the prospect of moving to Catalonia. © IMAGO - Ibrahima Konate Liverpool Barca actively chasing Konate 'Deco remains in contact with the player's camp, and the club is actively pursuing this operation,' the report reads - adding that Liverpool would seek €50m in the event that Konate is sold this summer. Barca have lost Inigo Martinez to Al-Nassr - opening up a space in the centre of defence which they would like Konate to fill. Nonetheless talks with Liverpool are described as Konate's priority at this stage - with the player keen to learn what Richard Hughes is willing to give him to stay. Konate has rejected all of Liverpool's previous attempts to secure him to a new deal and the Premier League champion would like around £200k per week to renew. It appears that Konate is therefore keeping his options open and learn about interest at other clubs - putting Liverpool under pressure to wrap up a deal.
