Emily in Paris actor claims he was ‘fired' from upcoming season of Netflix show

British actor Rupert Everett has claimed he was 'fired' from Emily in Paris. The My Best Friend's Wedding star, 66, appeared in the most recent series of the Netflix hit, playing interior designer Giorgio Barbieri, an old friend of Sylvie Grateau (Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu). The characters reunite in Rome, where a bulk of the fourth season was filmed, when Sylvie calls on Giorgio for a favour. And while Leroy-Beaulieu, 62, told media last year working with Everett was one of her highlights of filming, Everett has now claimed he will not be back for the fifth season. 'I was fired,' he bluntly told Vanity Fair. 'I did a scene in the latest season, and they told me, 'Next year we'll speak.' 'I waited for them to call me — but ultimately, it never came, and they just fired me. 'Show business is always very difficult, from the beginning to the end. When they write the screenplay, they think they want you, but then things change, and they lose your character. I don't know why. 'For me, it was a tragedy. I was in bed for two weeks because I couldn't get over it.' Vanity Fair claimed a production source said Everett was simply let go because his character's story had come to an end, while Netflix declined to comment. Leroy-Beaulieu previously told People during promo for the series she 'had so much fun' shooting alongside Everett. 'It was so much fun because his personality is crazy,' the French actress said. 'That was a really great moment.' Meanwhile, the core cast began production on the upcoming fifth series of the frothy drama in May. Shooting picked up in Rome, Italy, where the titular character Emily (played by Lily Collins) moved at the end of last season to establish a local office for her Paris-based PR firm, Agence Grateau, while also forging a new romance with Italian fashion business owner Marcello (Eugenio Franceschini). 'The cast and crew of Emily in Paris are thrilled to begin filming Season 5 in the Eternal City,' creator Darren Star said. 'From Parisian rooftops to Roman ruins, we can't wait to share where Emily's next chapter takes us.' It's expected to drop on the platform later this year.

Ozzy Osbourne fans flock to Birmingham to pay tribute ahead of funeral

Fans of Black Sabbath frontman Ozzy Osbourne have flocked to the streets of Birmingham in the United Kingdom to pay tribute to the late musician as part of a public procession ahead of his funeral service. The heavy metal star died on July 22 at the age of 76, weeks after he played his final gig in front of a sold-out crowd in the English city. His hearse was due to go down Birmingham's Broad Street on Wednesday to the Black Sabbath bench on the street's canal bridge. It will be accompanied by family members and a live brass band. Ozzy will then be laid to rest at a private funeral service. Thousands of fans have paid their respects to the musician who was instrumental in pioneering heavy metal, with many leaving heartfelt messages and floral tributes at the bridge. "It was important to the city that we support a fitting, dignified tribute ahead of a private family funeral. "We know how much this moment will mean to his fans. We're proud to host it here with his loving family in the place where it all began." Broad Street is closed to through traffic and will only reopen after the funeral ends. Buses and trams have been diverted. Black Sabbath was formed in Birmingham in 1968 and saw huge commercial success in the 70s and 80s. They went on to become one of the most successful metal bands of all time, selling more than 75 million albums worldwide. The band was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2006. Osbourne was added for a second time last year as a solo artist. Often referred to as the "Prince of Darkness" who once bit a bat while on stage, Ozzy gained notoriety for his outlandish stunts. At Black Sabbath's final show on July 5, Ozzy performed seated on a black throne in front of 42,000 fans. He was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 2019, and had been in poor health recently. Ozzy also starred in his own reality show The Osbournes alongside his wife Sharon and children Kelly and Jack. AP/AFP

Desperate': Prince Harry's latest move a bid to ‘ease tension' as he fights for reconciliation

Prince Harry is said to be 'desperate' to reconcile with his family. The Daily Mail recently reported that the Duke of Sussex quietly extended an olive branch to the royals by offering to share his official schedule of engagements. According to the outlet, this is a bid to ease tensions between him and his father, King Charles III, who is battling an undisclosed form of cancer. Fox News Digital reached out to a spokesperson for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex for comment. The couple's office declined to comment when reached by People magazine. 'Harry is now desperate,' British royals expert Hilary Fordwich told Fox News Digital. 'While this self-serving gesture is notable, it won't do much to mitigate suspicion and caution on the royal side,' Fordwich claimed. 'King Charles III is now more guarded than ever, indeed somewhat traumatised by a string of betrayals.' Fordwich noted that, according to palace insiders, the king 'has expressed being 'cautious and wary' regarding fearing further unsavoury leaks, [especially] private royal family gatherings being publicised yet again.' 'Also, overall doubt still prevails in Prince William's camp,' Fordwich claimed. 'He considers any reconciliation at all as a 'grave mistake.' His senior royal courtiers are understood to be just as wary and immensely protective of the future monarch. They only see [a reconciliation] as creating more bombshells, as well as instability.' According to the outlet, Harry's proposal will allow transparency, avoiding conflicts between the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's public outings and the British royal family's engagements. This will also attempt to quash rumours the Sussexes are trying to overshadow the royal family. It's noted that Harry's recent visit to Angola honouring his late mother, Princess Diana, eclipsed stories about Queen Camilla's 78th birthday. The outlet also revealed that Harry sharing his diary would potentially spark conversations about when father and son can meet in person again. Harry and Charles were last together for a brief meeting in February 2024 after Buckingham Palace announced the 76-year-old's cancer diagnosis. Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams told Fox News Digital he's optimistic about Harry's latest move. 'This represents a gesture of goodwill,' he said. 'The Sussexes should always respect the royal calendar, where natural care is taken to avoid clashes whenever possible. … This is a practical move that will be appreciated. It appears the Sussexes are getting some good advice.' Royal expert Ian Pelham Turner agreed. 'This is a very significant departure and development for Harry as he attempts to find a peaceful way forward,' he told Fox News Digital. 'In my opinion, this should be construed as a way forward and one which the royal family should accept and move forward to a peaceful conclusion for the future.'
